Subscribe! Going N/A or turbo? I'd love to see a DOHC with 6 throttle bodies hanging off it, imagine the sound that would make!!!

This is all guessing though, you need to figure out if it's a fuel or spark problem. Get someone to dribble some fuel down the carb while you try to start it, if it keeps running you got a fuel problem. If it's a spark problem you need to figure out if your running points or electronic ignition. If your running points check the ballast resistor, it will have a ballast bypass for start up then when you let go of the key it runs on the ballast circuit (5 volts).

XH buckets into XF ute with a bench?
Valvebouncer replied to EgoXF's topic in Interior and Car Audio
My xf ute is a 1991 model and I've got a 1985 sedan i wrecked out. I tried putting the back rests onto the bench. Nothing fitted, everything is different. I'm not sure if you can just change the runners though. -
I had this problem on my xd esp I had years ago. It had xe gold snowflakes on it. The fronts seized on, no matter what I tried they wouldn't budge. I ended up undoing the bearing nut and pulling off the wheel, disc and caliper altogether. In the end I had to smash the rotor part of the disc away to get the caliper out and then pressing the remaining centre out with a 20 ton press. Sorry, I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear, I've got no idea how long it had been since the wheels had been off. This is a common problem with commodores with alloy wheels, maybe if you know some one with a commodore they could assist. One thing I did try before disassembly was to loosen the wheel nuts and go for a SLOW drive, hopefully they work themselves loose for you ( mine didn't).

Tried to start engine - now we have electrical issues
Valvebouncer replied to ZJ 'lane's topic in Auto Electrics
Do the dash lights come on when in acc position only? Do they stay on when you try to crank? Or go out? Sounds like Tyler is on the money with an earth problem, check and clean all connections especially the battery terminals! -
Just noticed the Bosch electronic dist. Nice little bonus right there!!

Other way to tell if its a Windsor or Cleveland is the location of the thermostat housing. Windsor have it bolted to the intake manifold and on Cleveland it bolts straight onto the engine block which is awesome when you have old corroded housing bolts that snap like twigs!!! Great memories

I would have thought a dedicated lpg head would have a more of a closed chamber to give it a bit more comp? Probably an early alloy head, there were so many variants in engine specs for XD and XE. High comp/low comp, 3.3, 4.1 etc etc and for some reason ( guessing emissions) there were NSW spec engines too.

Here is a pick of my E1 head, sort of looks similar( sorry thought I had an E2 not E1)

Thanks for your replies guys, awesome amount of info. Your a wealth of knowledge!!

Is there any clearance problems with an AU alloy sump in an X series? I was looking at running a C4 behind mine for two reasons, no computer ( going aussiespeed manifold and carb on engine) and well, I got one sitting in the garage. Is there any problems with mating a C4 up behind a AU 4.0l?

Welcome! Probably best moving this to the electrical section. It sound like your circuit breaker playing up. It sits next to the relays on the drivers side. As Revhead stated, looks like a little metal box, yellow/ purple wires from memory?? it only has two wires going into it.
