Neither the MECHANIC or the AUTO ELECTRICIAN, know where the WIRES from the KNOCK SENSOR goes...ANYONE KNOW or and have a photo..IT ,might solve a lot of problems here...OR is there a section here I can refer too...cheers..

When the car came out in 87 the engine was set up to run on 95 Ron, I dont know if 98 was available back then...

I really want to keep the car original, True there are Mods which will make the car, BETTER, but then it wont be what it was..Going to try the 95/98 fuel first then get the Mechanic to check the timing , maybe change the spark plugs again after they were all sooted up..

I had forgotten that this car was tuned for 95 ron..and I have stuck 91 in it...

Just got the XF back this afternoon, Apparently the computer they had connected, THEY WERE 3 TO CHOOSE FROM, had water in it, TPS and 1 other computer change and it works, OK, However it now needs to be tuned, as it idles too HIGH and it PINGS on accelerating, so BACK to the MECHANICS, ..

The guy said that the TPS was not working at all, it was not sending a signal to the computer..So yeah hopefully today its up and running...Properly..then the security system and a GPS tracker next...lol

Ok, guys UPDATE, The XF went from the Mechanics to the AUTO ELECTRICIANS today. Got a call from him 1 and a 1/2 hours later, It seems like its the TPS..It is not working, and he has ordered another for 2 morrow...I think I LIKE THIS GUY...Hopefully this will solve the problem...STEREO, SECURITY SYSTEM AND GPS TRACKING SYSTEM NEXT....Thanks to EVERY ONE FOR THEIR REPLIES AND INFO ..It is hard to diagnose something BLINDLY , so yes, THANK YOU ONE AND ALL...Wish I knew how to load the PHOTOS ON HERE...

These COMPUTERS cant be modified, they will accept 4-5 CAMSHAFT MODIFICATIONS though.....and yes its the SVO falcon.....It all worked until the engine was removed and the NEW dash was replaced.Anyway, It goes to an AUTO ELEC whom has worked on these things waaaay back in the day, so hope fully he can sort it..

So do I ANDO81, However I am getting 152 kws out of this EFI engine, already, and rev,s out at 5500 RPM...YES 5500 RPM, IT GOES...that is it went, even an commodore could pass it now!!

It did go well, but that stopped when they took the engine out and the dash was replaced, I am guessing its, like a wire is not connected, an earth wire, on wrong...something simple..

Dont know, went down to his place today, he was not there, I told the other Mechanic, I was sending the car to an AUTO ELECTRICIAN, he reckons he can sort the problem as he has worked on these things, 65 years old, so I will see what the BILL is on tuesday. He is a good MECHANIC, I have never had to take my cars back when he has done work on them, SO YEAH, I mean labour is LABOUR...

I have been in touch with a company at BRENDALE, COOL DRIVE, they do check the computers for these cars, and if necessary repair, however, it has to go through a Mechanic forms have to be filled out. Rang a " older, established" AUTO ELECTRICIAN and he said, after I explained to him my problem, that it should not be too hard to solve, SEND the car over...SO.....lets see...lol

Dont worry, when I do find out I will let every one know...Had the hinges welded, so no more problem with the door handles...

MR POISON, YES, I replaced the dash, as the other one was cracked, I replaced the whole thing....

OUT BACK JACK, I am not getting shirty with any one here, Dont know where you got that Idea from, as a matter of FACT, I am learning from each and every one here that has an input to my problem....The only thing, REALLY that has changed, are the INLET AND EXTRACTORS which I had CERAMICLY COATED, to try and cut the heat down, 1, burning out my solenoid on the starter, and heat going to my AFM..

At this time, I wish to thank each and every one for their INPUT to my problem, that is I am experiencing with this engine at the moment. THANK YOU ALL.

I have 4 COMPUTERS, Apparently it does not matter if they are auto or from a manual, so long as its not the EST model ones...With each of them plugged in, the car reacts the same...So I am thinking some INFO from some other out let is not right..OR may be the fuel REGULATOR is shot..!!

I personally feel its the computer that is not working properly. Apparently a company that was at NEWMARKET, BRISBANE, is now at BRENDALE. I have one of the computers off of an XF GHIA. I will take it to them after a phone call and see if they can diagnose it and tell me if it is working correctly. CRAZY2287, My Mechanic has an FORD workshop manual so he has that data you put up there, THANKS, he was explaining it to me, so I Understood what that was about. What he cant also explain, is why DOES THE CAR WORK WITHOUT THE AFM, IT works ...idles and there is always, BLACK SOOT coming out the exhaust!!!!

The AFM and the EEC-1V HAVE been changed, twice....the coil, and the dissy, checked....AAAAAAGGGHH~~~

DEAN..He said he checked the voltage, hot and cold, and it was ok...SOMEHOW, to me, it seems the " ENGINE"...IS RECEIVING te message its too cold and getting a LOT of petrol all of the time...

Talked to the Mechanic again, and he says, It STARTS, IDLES, but it is running too RICH....If for IE its supposed to be giving 100 MLS OF PETROL on start up its giving 200 mls. The car drives but as soon as you ACCELERATE, it is RELEASING too much FUEL...AFM has been changed, EEC-1V has been changed, ECT checked, SPARK PLUGS, LEADS, COIL, have been changed..HE reckons if the DISSY was at fault IT would not START, IDLE, RUN...TFI is A-OK...Really at a lost..Unless the COMPUTER/S are not doing their job...AND HOW DOES ONE CHECK THAT..?

MR POISON...thought the AUTO one would be different as it changes "GEARS" AUTOMATICALLY compared to the manual one..IE receiving signals...
