Hi everyone, Thanks so much for your replies . Bit of backround on what i am doing I had a au 1 trayback it was white anyway I have completely dismantled it and painted it metallic gunmetal grey I put in a mew dedicated gas motor and gearbox, then I bought a series 2 ghia and put the front end in then I installed the climate control and all the woodgrain dash etc( basically the complete ghia interior) had it all finished but then discovered I had to change the wiring looms to the series 2 apparantly the pinouts are not exactly the same so I had to dismantle it and start again (((((( Does anybody know what I do about the abs brakes my car didn't have them orginally but will i need to put them in so the computer sees them (not sure here I am a builder not a mechanic lol) anyway it will be worth it it looks like a show car Thanks again everyone ........ Hello everyone, I have fitted an au 2 ghia dash to my series 1 ute I have changed all the wiring looms to the series 2 including the ecu etc. but was wondering about the abs system if the ecu doesn't find it will I have issues and if so how hard is it to retro fit the system I have installed the series 2 front end so i guess it is just the module and the sensors and brake lines but if i don;t need to do it i won't bother but I am wondering about the electronics not finding the system ...... any thoughts ? thanks Steve

series 1 falcon to series 2 brake upgrade
steveheffo posted a topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Hello everybody I want to upgrade my brakes in my series 1 ute to a series 2 with the full abs system just want to know do I need the brake booster utc where the pedal is connected I am changing the wiring harness to the series 2 as I have installed a fairmont dash etc. Also given that the fairmont sedans have traction control what happens about that in a ute I am just a little bit lost about that . I have changed all the mechanical parts in the front end to the series 2but I think I need the abs system so the computer understands what is going on ..... Thanks for any advice !!!!!! Happy new year Regards Steve -
I see yes well my is a ghia so I guess full wiring loom change over do you know is the e-gas loom just an additional plug in th the standard loom thanks again

Hello everybody, I am changing around my au series 1 ute a bit with a series 2 ghia dash my ute is dedicated gas I have to change the engine bay wiring looms to the series 2 for all the dash functions to work etc the donor car is straight petrol, all the cabin wiring etc is from the donor carmy question regarding the gas is !!! do I undo the orginal loom and run the wires back to the ecu ( are there pinouts avaible for this) as I cant finde a dedicated gas series 2 ghia wiring loom anywhere and then do I install a j3 chip to fool the ecu into thinking the car is still petrol or do all the looms have the wires for the gas but are un connected in a petrol car and 1 other thing what happens about the petrol fuel gauge in the dash .... this is becomming very daunting (((((( thanks for any replies regards steve
-
hI mate thanks for getting back to me yes it is a ghia high series dash you mentioned before it requires a full loom change do you still think that is the case earlier you mentioned changing some wires and things all the dash works but it wont start although I havent tried too hard to start it do you thinh it is because of the wiring in the engine bay just let me know what you think and I wont annoy you anymore till its finished and I will post some pics ..... Thanks Mate regards Steve
-
Hi mate do you know which wires and plugs etc I have to change ? some people on other forums seem sure I have to change the entire loom to a high series 2/3 I just dont know though I put a battery in and all the dash functions worked fine the motor cranked over but did not start I really dont want to pull it all apart again as it is finished what do you think ~!!!!! Thanks mate
-
Hi what colour codes are you referring too not sure I still have to change the engine bay wiring to the series 2/3 to suit the latter dash don't I are you just referring to the fuel gauge Thank mate regards steve

steveheffo replied to steveheffo's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Hi everybody, Thanks for the replies I have changed all the under car stuff that is mentioned, I am in the process of installing the series 2 engine bay wiring harness so my series 2 high series 2 dash works correctly so it all sounds pretty straight forward so what is the deal with using braided brake lines will I be able to get these off a wreck or are they an after market thing and if so where do i get them .... thanks again regards Steve -
thanks apparently so I will start looking for the looms I need I will get a high series 3 although the dash is a series 2 it will cover all bases I suppose how did it go for you anyway did the car start ok some of those engine plugs are hard to work out how to pull apart is there anywhere you can find out .... thanks for that have a good day regards steve
-
Hey mate, Thanks for getting back to me do you have any details how you do that I gather it is to make the fuel guage work but U am not sure how to go about it as I am taking the dashboard out again so I want to get everything right this time !!!! cheers Steve

Tuning your Falcon with a T.I. Performance J3 Chip
steveheffo replied to galapogos01's topic in Auto Electrics
Hi mate I am just reading yor post, I am not sure how this chip thing works but this is what I have done ..... I have put a au series 2 high end ghia dash into into my au series 1 cab chassis I bought the full donor car so all the electronics within the cabin are from the donor car and all match and work as I drove the car before buying it apparantly I should have changed the engine wiring looms but as all the plugs worked I didnt think it was an issue alsoi the car it all came from wasa petrol whereas my ute is dedicated gas.I am a builder and am fine with all the mechanical etc but these electronics are vey hard to get your head around.... my question is are you able to sort out this problem so I dont have to pull it all apart again ...... Thanks mate regards steve -

Hello everybody, I have just totally restored my au falcon cab chassis into a series 2 ghia I bought the entire car as a donor car and have put the complete interior into it ihave updated the front ent as well and re-sprayed it as well in metalic grey, I have used all the electronics from the donor car inside the cabin but i didn,t use the engine wiring looms apparaenty i should have done that, everything plugged together ok so i wasn't too worried but from what I have been told by others the pinouts are not all the same I am a builder the mechanical side was easy but the electronics are way mor perplexing and really stressing me out is anyone able to advise how th sort this out without dismantling the whole car again maybe with some bypass wiring or a chip or something.......
