wiring on the xe was all redone there chase so you can copy that i thought the factory wire only went to the fuse wire behind the battery but could be wrong you will be able to connect the battery to alternator direct. if everything else doesnt work then just join the old wire from the loom to the positive on the battery i tried a few different things and had a number of problems especially killing regulators so just bit the bullit and put a powermaster 120amp (may of been 150, cant remember) single wire in, idles at over 80 amps, only problem i had from then was spitting belts due to the small pulley but apparently factory pulleys fit back on

i would love to see a proper comparison but i use the close to period correct motorcraft filters or drift filters with the removal nut on the end, my clevo tends to take alot of effort to remove the filter http://www.rarespares.net.au/rarespares/ProductPage.aspx?product=D9AZ6731A the specs thats always missing and i really want to know with these comparisons is what pressure the bypass kicks in, with modified engines and oil pumps in performance motors it can be very important

82da will be xe only, the date codes are created during the end of the design process so to be designed in 82 would of been released already into the year of 82 also in 82 they were flat out developing/releasing the xe and wouldnt of been making parts for a police car that was weeks away from being outdated
