my ute had a plastic one with no air con but its an 88 model
if its not noisy and still cooling the motor just leave it
-
the thermo fan on my ute was stuffed and it was awful fan noise at anything over 1500rpm
it wasn't until i drove low km XG that i saw a clutch fan that worked how it should (it kicks in like a thermo fan and slows down enough that ya can't hear it when the engine cools)
-
plastic is fine i have one and my mates have them
we had trouble with the probes breaking of in the hose before fitting the adaptor
-
Those controllers seem the most common solution. I just don't like the probe in the hose, eveybody reckons they leak no matter what. Bit untidy too.
The EF and EL fans were wired differently, can't remember how. It relates to them being able to work at different speeds. I'd just ignore the extra stuff and go full speed, they will go for a bit then turn off.
Normally one is triggered by the AC too, but I'm guessing the ute doesn't have that. Just run a wire off the compressor switch wire to the relay trigger for one fan.
get one of these then the probe won't leak
-
it don't have to be a big wiring task
easier than putting in a cd player
-
go down to the hardware store and get one of those josco polishing kits that fit the drill
its like what the pro's use but smaller and slower but its easier than using ya hand
-
-
easiest way is to go for a drive then when ya get home and leave it idle while ya drink a coffee or something listening to if it changes speed
If its working it will be obvious
-
keep the 50cc pump and the brown cam
tune it with the nozzels
i closed down the PV restrictions a bit and run a 7.5 - 8.5 PV
the shutter you say is rich sounds more like lean stumble off idle
-
Sounds like a bad earth problem in the xf.
its my thermo fan over ride switch is some how doing something (if i turn it on with the engine off the battery don't drain)
-
Do you mean spark or park? If spark you ignition module or cap and motor might be dodgy, pull the cap and rotor ( pain in the ass on a xg) and try to wipe it out and spray some crc ot wd40 in there to try and drive the moisture out
looks like my finger missed the s key
yep i meant spark i tyred the wd40 and found the trigger wheel had a bit of surface rust on it
do XGs have TFI similar to the XF EFI
-
15X10 around and 325/50r15 on the back and 295/50r15 on the front
or equivalet diameter an width in 16 inch
-
found the problem on the XF
-
well maybe dellow or mall wood
and have a look around at swap meets and ebay because i think its something the speedway crowd would do
re drilling the bell and bolting the bell to the box could work but you will need some sort of ring around the input shaft bearing retainer because the singel rail is smaller
-
Castlemaine rod shop might have a bell housing
-
no point making 2 threads
first the XG it has no spark something to do with moisture because it only happens in damp cool whether
I would probably find the problem easy if the manifold wasn't so awful so any help would be good.
The XF has parasitic drain that makes the hand brake light glow dimly when engine is off what should i check
thanx

my ute had the tps and the bowl vent tube
maybe the ones from the 90s don't have it
to make the secondarys work properly fill in the slot in the circle with a mig
Mr Polson reacted to this -
use the one that allows the secondary to open fully at full throttle (probably the one without the TPS wire)
-
i find the loud horn makes em stop in front of me and makes pissed chicks crossing the road late at night do a little jump and a skip
-
i have a Stebel Nautilus car horn
plus the 400hz stock electric horn all working at the same time
it sounds like a sprinter train and scares the fuck out of people
Mr Polson, mcfly94 and BBS XE reacted to this -
-
i done this conversion
i just slid the column down with a bit of pipe as a pry bar
but at that time i didn't care much about my ute as i had no intention of keeping it very long
-
Watch out for chuck norris i got him to remove mine and he pushed crank right through the radiator haha, nahh well ive made a small slide hammer for them and the work well, or cold chisel it from the lip in two seperit spots bit by bit and they come out easy as.
chuck noris if an old fucker he probably can't even lift his dick

its close at the moment, but im finding its running rich, but if i lean it out, it runs like shit, so i think im loosing power there.
why you say its rich ?
Clutch Fan - Can you check them?
