i had one in a vk it was the worst shifting gearbox i have ever used and i drove a ute with an aussie 4 speed with a worn shifter that could go into 2 gears at the same time but it was still better to drive than the borgy 5 speed

Anyone know what the stock centrifugal advance curve is on a XD 4.1 auto's dizzy
Also how much advance dose the vac advance add
-
go the stick figure mine would beat yours in a fight tho
-
an xf has a smooth compliant ride as standard but even with HD springs and nolithane bushes they still aren't like a lowed VB-VKcommodore for hashness
-
my 250 in my ute gets 20psi hot at 900rpm and and 40 when cold
-
if ya over fill manuals all that usally happens is they spit oil out the breather
i abuse the shit out of my T5 its yet to shit (the only thing i don't do it full on clutch dumps)
i use dextron 3 and lubrizol additive (special additive for T5 gear boxes )

i have a pro crap one on my VK but i use a goodyear belt
pro comp were the only ones offering a 1.5 inch kit for the holden 6

No they just sound like a paper tearing fart.
what do Harleys sound like then ?
KRUPTOR and xcsam reacted to this -
But it sounds like a fart that has dragged out too long and starts spitting solids into ya dacks.
thats 4 bangers that sound like a dragged out fart

2700 is not okay when ive only got to 1800rpm left, i dont take my xflow past 4.5k
i was always going to keep the c4
1800 is plenty left
if a neuss diesel engine in an ACCO truck an cruse at 2700 flat out for years
A crossie can handle it
-
2700 is ok
why are people so scared of mid range revs
its under 3000 at 110kph quit ya sooking
T5 is ok but i wouldn't swap a C4 for one
-
personally i would leave the gas shop to fit the lines because its easier for them to check it if they are fitting the lines them self
XES reacted to this -
Actually, no.I am a mechanic, but I would like to get my ticket one day. In the meantime I'll have to pay for it to be done, just like any other mug.
still ya like to keep the $$$ in ya industry

Fitting a gas system when not qualified to do so is illegal. Mounting the tank, sufficient bracing, placement of the gas line(s), ventilation of filler hoses and proper matching of gas converter to mixer and engine are all things that need proper training and experience.
As the saying goes: if it was easy it wouldn't be a trade. If you can get your licensed fitter to sign off on your work, then that's up to him, but I would be reluctant if I was the one signing off on the work.
you are a gas fitter aren't ya
-
if i disconnect the battery and connect it again it starts (but one of the times i done that i gave it a squirt of ether in the intake )
-
fit the tank, converter and mixer yourself and take it some ware to get the lines hooked up and singed off

I found Roloc disc's on Monster Garage years ago and pestered local tool shops for ages till I found a supplier.Yes I still use em today.
they are good
you can change girt or to scotchbrite disc in a second
-
i can and have even used normal angel grinder disks too on heavyer stuff
but it would be quicker it ya don't have to take the tool away every so often to make sue ya on the weld
-
i use the same sort of thing at the moment without the holes
maybe i could cut some holes in a backing plate and disc so i can see the welds im grinding back
-
any one know if you can get these here
i saw em on dream car garage
-
not really because ya cant wipe it with wax and grease remover
maybe put a few thin coats of clear over it and hope it sticks
-
Yep that's the same thermo housing as mine. Good luck getting that plug out though, I broke an Allen key trying to shift mine.
For everyone's reference, Bosch relays have a numbering system:
30 - supply
85 - trigger in
86 - earth
87 - to device/load
The pin positions can vary, and there are relays that have an extra pin output (87a) for supplying power when not triggered. These are called changeover relays and are used on fog lights, etc when you need the low beam dipped, so it's one or the other.
If you learn a bit more about electrics, you can wire up your thermofans to run in series or parallel, giving two speeds. This is how they did it on the EF setup.
they often have a schematic on the side too
Borgy 5 speed (not T5)

4.1 crossflow is a pretty torquey motor similar to a 5 liter V8 .
It will last if ya don't give it a hard time 1st and 5th are the gears that are most likely to go so keep that in mind
try it and let us know how its going in say a years time
