Are you sure, you have opened one of these up yourself? I have some more photos from Chaise 'ILIED' , of his LSD center, it looks like the one above -

So i won this off of ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-5-4-V8-SOHC-220kw-BA-BF-dead-petrol-engine-suit-reco-or-rebuild-cheap-/381268813135?&autorefresh=true not even sure where to start with it . Ill prolly leave it in my shipping container untill the aussie dollar gets a bit stronger Has anyone here toyed around with one of these or any 5.4 into an earlier car?
-
Dont do that . you wont like what you find 99% of the time haha
-
Have it as low as possible in the engine bay , ideally lower than the overflow tank for the radiator, that way it will always be bled . if you have it above , sometimes your converter can get an air pocket and then freeze
-
So lost the bidding for another 5.4 motor, got fkd with the first one i bought, as there were no cam gears lol ill be saving up 1000-2000ish to buy a good running lowish km boss 260 motor.. and go from there new cam gear kit from ford racing ~1000$ so i am not going to bother with this SOHC 5.4..

Did any x falcon wagons/utes (leaf springs) come out with watts linkages installed?
RAWDEAL replied to RAWDEAL's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
I was thinking of maybe making a set of watts links that are a solid bar and have a thread so i can wind them in and out to get them right .. they pretty much have to go vertical.. and i want them to mount to the chassis rail.. this might make for an easy work around , rather than welding stuff onto the car, figuring out its in the wrong spot ect -

gotta have that 320kw when your hauling a fully loaded tradie trailer and 20 bags of cement on the tray ?? maybe ? lol -

i should clarify going to be converting an eb xr6 diff to leaf and then also have a turbo ute diff lined up unsure on if they xr6 turbo diffs have watts linkages ect.. i havnt gone to look at it yet -
Does it go hard ?

RAWDEAL replied to RAWDEAL's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Im going the other way and just putting leaf pads onto a coil sprung 3.45 LSD diff , so ill already have the watts link on the diff I have a 3.45 xr6 turbo ute diff lined up. ill be using that -
Lets just say i have bought a 20ft container to store engine stuff in lol
-
Yeah dunno about the crossflow comparison LOL . nearly everyone on this forum must sleep with a 250 crossflow on the other side of the bed at night Although that is true they are a long stroked motor. but i dont think it couldnt mean they could do 7000+ reliably with a good bottom end ect. 408 clevos do it It will be a while off , gotta wait for that damn us dollar to drop before i even think about ordering parts lol .

What did these rev out to in factory form? a good balance and aftermarket rods and pistons should see them revving fairly high? the OHC-type rocker and valve train setup should be good for a few revs? they are basically jesel-style shaft mount rockers from the factory
-
yeah ill have to get the measuring tape out to see what the go is with the dimensions (always easier to tell in real life , rather than a set of drawings) Howcome people keep telling me these have better low end torque than a DOHC? shouldnt it be the other way around ? Got the engine today and took the rocker covers off no fucking cam gears or phasers ?! ?!
-
thats pretty good man! what do they push out in standard form? i will get it tuned and ill have to make extractors for it to fit into the engine bay anyways i have not priced cams yet.. needs to be rebuilt so ill measure piston to valve clearances when i do and go from there
-
Ahh yeah i saw that . more interested in the motor side of things .. i want to get it spinning a little quicker than factory
-
the BBM would be better i suppose someone else is going to say it eventually.. why not run the whole EL motor?
-
Does anyone know of any good places to get some 17" interceptors offset changed and widened in Melb? Somewhere that powdercoats as well would be handy
-
Or if you wanted to run LPG , without any duel fuel setup. Actually i am not sure how the taxis work come to think of it ? i am pretty sure they are not vapor injection in the early ba models?
-
Well the speedway guys have to use carbs i think?? the thread is how to get a carb working
-
Couldnt you just run the standard ECU with it flash tuned so that there are no injectors. and then run the aussiespeed manifold/carby for fuel?
