i was aiming for the later EL motor anyway. Should make things less painfull. I figure the late el has the dizzy.

is it true that you can do E series lower XF upper mounts rather than XG anyway?

I think the XG mounts still work on the AU.

Apparently that cannot be done. but I am not sure.

according to a good source the AU motor can fit with sump mods. If you down space the sway bar.
If so im going au motor. Ive been driving my AU all day and its just such a rocket compared to the ZL.

Thom currently I am been a bit tight and gas research is expensive probably do that next year.
XEEclipse yes you can put the XE dizzy on the 4L with only a few small mods. Aussie speed sell a dizzy to. haven't got the motor yet but freshened would be the aim.
Damo96 I am trying to avoid the computer's and I think with the Aussie speed manifold and a dew other mods the 4L will go quite nicely.

The aussie speed manifold looked so simple to use honestly. I figured with the ease of just bolting the holley base on than an impco setup would be simple.
I dont know what 4L manifold would involve.
If it was simple it could save me $400 odd dollars.

Hey Guys and Gals.
As some of you may know my Xflow is just about ready for a rebuild. But im am seriously considering doing a 4L conversion.
I am wanting to run an EL (XR6 if possible) motor with the aussie speed carby manifold. I am aware this would not meet emissions though. Which is why i want to run straight Gas. I am running LPG anyway.
Ive been reading up over the last few months and i think im about ready to tackle this.
Any input is great to.

I have a LPG 351. Runs very nicely and doesn't feel like it has lost a great deal of power. With fuel prices the way they are it makes sense with such a thirsty engine.

yeah the ZL needs another gear and if i run the 4L i feel like a 3 speed will be way to limited.

i would imagine you could manualise it. I think i read that. But then why have the auto. I wanna be lazy!

i really would prefer a 4 speed trans. How hard would it be to get the eb trans computer to get the AU box going? Maybe i could just dump that on a auto elec.

so thats what i would require a C4 with an AU bell housing. Cool. This all seems very doable.
Any thoughts on the carb fed AU motor?

I have decided to run an AU 4L in my ZL. I want to do it with an aussie speed manifold and carb set up to avoid using a computer.
Problem is what to do about the Transmission. The AU box requires a computer to control it. Is it possible to run it without it? Is there another Trans that is as good without a computer.
Also any feed back on the carb AU motor setup would be nice.
