I noticed how incredibly shit the stock headers looked when I picked up my windsor. My budget is tight(bloody ZH) so I hope I can find some that fit reasonably cheap seeing the whole exhaust will cost a fair bit.

They looked particularly shit next to the extractors for my ZH.

I think your right the Unfamilia. There is heaps of 90s Fairlanes dirt cheap online. Currently im think EFI winsdor in the ZL. I know for your XD you will need V8 engine mounts from I think XA through XE from my reading that will bolt up to the Windsor. Not sure what tranny to run with though.

I'm doing the exact thing to the zl. Handy info reservoir is about 10 mins from here.

im still tossing up between this and a 4L. $400 is very cheap but then my Xflow needs some work.

for a trolley jack just throw a thick rag on it to avoid scratches. Just did the doors on my ZH with this method. Its all about spending some time i reckon.

VPW do a really good kit for abour $42 plus postage. Comes with everything (minus the fans) i got a kit that can control my EF thermos for my ZL 4L conversion. It also controls each fan seperatly. Super easy setup with instructions.

Like Crazy and Thom said change your stud pattern before you change a PCD. I have a friend who wanted to be able to use some JDM rims on an RX7 and some Datsuns. So he decided to redril to suit. Paid for it the rims never felt right to me and the balance was always crap. So in the end he changed his stud pattern. Now he can use all his rims on all his cars.

14's are a pain. If they fit better id run 15's on the Datsun. Took ages to find reasonably priced white walls for it.

all my cars love penrite. Couldnt reccomend a viscosity though myself.

i would give it a good service. Pay attention to the trans fluid colour to. See if that helps at all.

You could just tint the ones you have. Don't go clear they look awful. Well in my opinion anyway.  

Looks awesome. Defintly worth thinking about if you have a Karcher.

Wagon looks good to! Thoms right nice snowies look nice. But filthy ones make me think of shitty E series bombs.

I hope your C pilars are ok Bazza. I havent found one without some rust there. I had a go at removing the glue from my Marquis roof but it was a pain. Then i aborted the project anyway.

 

I wish these things had never had vinyl roofs. It is the death of so many.

hey Bazza. In my experince with the ZH vinyl roof there isnt really any paint worth protecting. If there is some rust there is bound to be either more than you expected or bog. I know you have experience with body work on these things so you should be ok.

 

I also reccomend being very carefull with your chrome trims when removing the vinyl roof.

My XF has been beaten up hills by a prius, a toyota starlet life, an empty maxi cememt truck burned me off at traffic light races lol.. its still going though one day i might hope to race a 3.3 litre XF and i might have half a chance lol.

if you could check the trans fluid level without getting under the car you'd probably find its low on fluid, if its anything like my mates AU fairlane he had.. from slipping a bit to walking was measured in weeks not months.

exactly ''if'' sadly Ford didnt include a dipstick. Well im saying the AU has a month or two left. It needs tyres, exhaust, trans service and probably brakes soon to. Also has a fair bit of rust and the gas system is buggered.

 

So i now have a ''free'' 4L coming and yet already here.

yep mine will hardly go on lpg now. Lucky i prefer petrol. But my wallet sure doesnt.

 

My AU's tranny is starting to slip. I kinda hope it gets worse so i have a reason to pinch its motor and flog it.

judging by how my ZL went this morning il be doing this as soon as the ZH is done.

 

I think il get it up and running then worry about an engineers point of view.

when it comes to LPG its harder to get a good mechanic. My mechanic wont touch it. Go to an LPG specialist and see how you go.
