There's no need to modify the isc valve. You can program the desired rpm in the chip.

You only need to do something with the neutral safety switch in the loom when you swap to manual with an auto ecu. Vss is the same.

I'll fix that typo in my last post too.

Did you get one of the chips shipped out last Sunday? I noticed on Instagram Jason say he had quite a few to do, maybe he made a mistake?

yes i seen he did lol.

i have no idea if one was mine

  2. Thanks gerg. I bought the resistors, 1 watt 6.8 k and 1.2 k.

Apparently I need to hook up the nutruel switch on the box for other issues,

I figured if it gets a tune it wont need them. i actually just got my J3 back, plugged it in and the fuel pump doesnt stop priming and the car will not start. Removed it and it starts.

  3. can someone please tell me what's required to put a little Windsor into my ED? it's a 4.0. I'm aware of the k frames being different but does it REALLY need swapping with a V8 frame? cheers guys.

  4. Have you gone back to the Head jobber.?? Could be a cracked valve guide, valve not seating correctly, stem seals missing, any number of things.

Maybe do a compression test.? Hard to diagnose over the Internet.

Yeh it is. It's a weird one.

i'm thinking PCV valve now as the hose is full of oil and possibly puddling in the lag manifold.

It has plenty of grunt, no noises and zero smoke even when giving it hell.

  5. So I started it after work let it idle for a few minutes then had to get the fuck out of there. Started again but no where near as bad. And this time it was blue. Oil. How? The head gas been reconditioned! New stem seals as well obviously so what the hell? I can't think of anything other that oil running on top of the pistons while the car sits for a few hours. What am I supposed to do! Everytime I get some so called qualified mechanic or rebuilder to touch my cars they either do no better that me or simply stuff it up. Spent a fortune on on the head, rebuild, cam chip etc and I get this shit. I can see why people say leave it stock! It's all money once you open it up

  6. Cheers for the replies guys. The log comment got me thinking...I degreased and washed the engine with the throttle body fully exposed to degreaser and water. And the smoke was white. Not blue... hoping it was water and degreaser sitting in the log

  7. Hi chaps, Well the ED ( 4.0 ) has had a head swap. Reconditioned to at that.

With the old oil it didnt smoke AT ALL. Saturday I did an oil change penrite PR 30 extra 10 ( 30-60 )

Took it for a drive no worrys. ( not that far ) Took it to work this morning and it seemed fine but was dark so maybe it smoked. Anyway, after work I started it to show a mate the stereo and after 3-4 mins it blew that much smoke it wasn't funny! Like fucking shitloads! Even missed! Kept blowing! booted it up the road and it cleared. still plenty of power and no smoke. Got it home, let it sit for a few hours started it for 10 mins and NOTHING. the oil was on ADD as I put a litre in the pajero. So the ED got 4 litres.

Funny to because the pajero didn't like it either! tick tick tick loud!

What the hell? I'm thinking another oil change...

It's like the valve stem seals are gone but they are new.

  8. Seen that BARK EB/ED...... burnout warrior only.

Supercharger is a nice idea, but turbo's are a much cheaper and more proven formula for the OHC sixes, if you wanted to boost the engine.

Forced induction is a commitment either way, if you want the drivetrain to stay reliable.

The 94AB heads, flow the best from factory.

and the very first EA cams, are the highest lift from factory.

If you can get XR6 spec valves put in a 94AB head, with an EA cam - that's the best bang for buck 'factory' combo that you'll get.

As that thread showed, the xxDT (tickford) heads, actually have less flow in factory spec, than a standard head.

Spend the money getting your heads flowed - before and after or standard vs tickford comparison.

Knowing those flow figures, will help you fit a cam with spec's to best suit your chosen cylinder head.

Then you could look at a J3 dyno tune.

    Thanks for that mate :)

The EF head is a 94AB

  9. I've got some info in the OHC cylinder head section I think.

I don't think I ever started a thread on my XG ute - which the head is for.

    In this thread - http://www.ozfalcon.com.au/index.php?/topic/2076-4l-head-flow-figures/

Bloody good read mate! Have you seen BARK FORD 6 on youtube? thats a 4.0 with a huge supercharger on it.

How would you rate the EB Tickford heads?

My ED is a 4.0 that has a EF head on it ATM and pacemakers 2 1/2" system ( no cat )

Plans are the EB tickford head thats just had work to go on with the crow cam and J3 to suit tuned to run 98.

I had the cam in the EF head with J3 and didn't see any real improvment! Cam timing?

Lots going on in my head.

  10. Not sure yet.

    I haven't fitted it. LOL!

It's a brand new aftermarket cylinder head casting too.

Oh nice that means you still have it :) LOL!

Do you have a build thread?

  11. I like the head.... reminds me of the one I built up - :)

(don't like that he's sandblasted it though. The Alloy will never stay clean now)

Nice mate! Mines not ported or polished. How did it go?

  12. i'm using the same cam, you can check my build thread if your interested to see my mods... the biggest thing with that cam is to dyno tune the j3

That ED of yours is bloody nice! What are the wheels?

  13. Just put it back together as I removed the crow cam and J3 chip.

It's now running the standard the ECU and the EB XR6 Cam.

Took it for a spin and it goes HARDER! WTF.

Obviously I need a adjustable cam gear to dial in the big crow.

( the head, cam and chip is put away until I get more goodys )
