1. Success. Have got a bf turbo barra motor with all the bolt ons as well as all the bits like loom, ecu etr to make it run. Motor should be delivered to my place by the end of next week.
    Now let the fun begin.

  2. Been a while since I posted so I thought an update was in order. Had a guy who builds turbo motors come and have a look at the bitch and he was straight up with me about what was required.
He estimate of what it would cost to rebuild the motor, set up a decent engine management system and all the other crap necessary to make a reliable street car has forced me to look at other options.

My thoughts now are leaning towards a turbo barra transplant, most likely from an fg falcon.

The search has now begun for an fg turbo motor with all the bolt ons, computer and loom.

  3. Almost ready to bolt the rear brakes back together. Gave them a coat of paint after I put a kit through them. Looking a lot better

Next on the agenda will be having a look at the spaghetti called wiring under the dash. Front seats will be out as will half the dash. Not looking forward to doing it.

  4. Have started to do a few things on the old girl - finally. Rear brakes were locked on so removed the rear calipers ready for a refurbed set to go on so I can move the bitch around. Checked out the exhaust system while under there and looks like a new 3" system will be required as the existing one is full of holes.

This could take a while longer than I expected.

  5. Picked up the intercooler yesterday.

439dabd9231b8eeb7cf6f0987d62a910.jpg

Any advice on where to get the piping from? After the motor is sorted, would it be easier to mock up the plumbing in pvc pipe before buying the pipework?

Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

6. It was indeed MSPSI. The car has only done 17000km since it was built. Rego lapsed in Feb 2008.

You're right about the lights though. I have all the plastic pieces needed to repair the dash. Will start pulling it apart when I finish cleaning out my shed which should happen in the next few weeks. If it gets too messy, I will look around for a new loom as suggested XF0747.

  7. Reading up on intercoolers on a few forums. A couple of xf's were running 600x400x75 with 3" inlet and outlets. Anyone got an opinion or some guidance on what size I should be looking at?

  8. Not too worried about rebuilding the car. Just know fuck all about forced induction.

I have already decided to pull the engine down and put new rings through it as well as new bearings. The head will also get a rebuild.

After that, I am in the dark. Silly questions will follow.

  9. As I said wagoon, I know nothing about forced induction. I have no preconceived ideas about the subject and am open to all advice. While the cost of implementing this advice may make this a slow rebuild, I want to do it properly once and once only.

At the moment, I am trying to put together a plan of attack and put dollar figure against said plan.

  10. It will be a weekend driver wagoon along with my white xf sedan. It isn't registered atm and I'm cleaning out the shed so I can put it in there and work on it. Once I can figure out what they're for I can start removing them all and replace all the dash plastics that are now fucked.

  11. Thanks for the advice wagoon. It does in fact have twin thermos on engine side and a single in front of the radiator. There is a lot of wiring in the plastic tubing near brake booster and on passenger side near gauge pod. They also installed air horns and a claxon in lieu of the standard horn. A huge wank factor from my perspective but sorting through the wiring will take some time.

Will post some pics of all the shit warning lights they installed inside the car. Would be lit up like a christmas tree.
