Not yet matt_lamb_160. It will get pulled down and most likely rebuilt after I get the barra in and running. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

    Turbo xf falcon.

I'm in need of some information on my 4.1 EFI turbo xf falcon. Bought it from a guy in Melbourne who bought off the guy that built it. To cut a long story short, the chick that owned it leaned out a piston. Compression test shows cylinder 3 is down to 30psi while the rest are sitting at 130psi. I have inspected the suspect cylinder with an inspection camera and the piston seems to be alright but has some minor scoring of the bore. The honing marks a still clearly visible in all the bores and motor has only done 17000km since it was built. I suspect that the valves in cylinder 3 are fucked and the head needs to be rebuilt. My question is - should I pull the motor down and put new rings and bearings in it and get it rehoned to remove the scoring in cylinder 3 as well or just get the head rebuilt and put it back together? I know nothing about forced induction so please be gentle with me. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

Success. Have got a bf turbo barra motor with all the bolt ons as well as all the bits like loom, ecu etr to make it run. Motor should be delivered to my place by the end of next week. Now let the fun begin. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

Been a while since I posted so I thought an update was in order. Had a guy who builds turbo motors come and have a look at the bitch and he was straight up with me about what was required. He estimate of what it would cost to rebuild the motor, set up a decent engine management system and all the other crap necessary to make a reliable street car has forced me to look at other options. My thoughts now are leaning towards a turbo barra transplant, most likely from an fg falcon. The search has now begun for an fg turbo motor with all the bolt ons, computer and loom. Almost ready to bolt the rear brakes back together. Gave them a coat of paint after I put a kit through them. Looking a lot better Next on the agenda will be having a look at the spaghetti called wiring under the dash. Front seats will be out as will half the dash. Not looking forward to doing it. Have started to do a few things on the old girl - finally. Rear brakes were locked on so removed the rear calipers ready for a refurbed set to go on so I can move the bitch around. Checked out the exhaust system while under there and looks like a new 3" system will be required as the existing one is full of holes. This could take a while longer than I expected.

    Picked up the intercooler yesterday.

Any advice on where to get the piping from? After the motor is sorted, would it be easier to mock up the plumbing in pvc pipe before buying the pipework?

Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

Would a 600 x 300 x 76 intercooler be adequate?

Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

I don't believe half the rubbish I've been told about this car. It is satans bastard child and shall be treated as such when I get around to pulling it down. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

It was indeed MSPSI. The car has only done 17000km since it was built. Rego lapsed in Feb 2008. You're right about the lights though. I have all the plastic pieces needed to repair the dash. Will start pulling it apart when I finish cleaning out my shed which should happen in the next few weeks. If it gets too messy, I will look around for a new loom as suggested XF0747. Reading up on intercoolers on a few forums. A couple of xf's were running 600x400x75 with 3" inlet and outlets. Anyone got an opinion or some guidance on what size I should be looking at? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

Not too worried about rebuilding the car. Just know fuck all about forced induction. I have already decided to pull the engine down and put new rings through it as well as new bearings. The head will also get a rebuild. After that, I am in the dark. Silly questions will follow. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

As I said wagoon, I know nothing about forced induction. I have no preconceived ideas about the subject and am open to all advice. While the cost of implementing this advice may make this a slow rebuild, I want to do it properly once and once only. At the moment, I am trying to put together a plan of attack and put dollar figure against said plan. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

It will be a weekend driver wagoon along with my white xf sedan. It isn't registered atm and I'm cleaning out the shed so I can put it in there and work on it. Once I can figure out what they're for I can start removing them all and replace all the dash plastics that are now fucked. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

Thanks for the advice wagoon. It does in fact have twin thermos on engine side and a single in front of the radiator. There is a lot of wiring in the plastic tubing near brake booster and on passenger side near gauge pod. They also installed air horns and a claxon in lieu of the standard horn. A huge wank factor from my perspective but sorting through the wiring will take some time. Will post some pics of all the shit warning lights they installed inside the car. Would be lit up like a christmas tree. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
