  1. Hi, Can anyone provide me with the dimensions for the 5.8 badge that are stuck on the front guards behind the wheel as well as the Falcon Badge stuck on the boot? Im ghost painting some of the badges on to the Reaper, so looking to get the sizes as close as possible. Any help very much appreciated. Cheers Terry

Thanks for that mate, appreciate it.
  4. Hi Guys, Now I have the heater hoses sorted, I have to fix the last big problem I have with putting a ZL Fairlane Interior into an XE with a 351. Before the engine went in, it looked so easy to bolt the air con compressor to the lower left hand side of the 351. All looked great, fitted well. But when I dropped the 351 into the engine bay I found the compressor to be hitting part of the engine bay. I was wondering if there would be any problems I remove the section that the compressor is hitting? Or if anyone else has a better setup they would like to share? I don't want to use the original 351 compressor. Cheers

    Clevo 351 in XF Falcon/ZL Fairlane/FE LTD?

The Reaper has been a 6 year project so far, but finally finishing him off. Yeah I get to that stage all the time, Ive just learnt now to stop and come back when I feel like doing it, other wise Im doing it again.
  6. Hi guys, Has anyone had any experience with a 351 in any of the XF series cars, with the different firewall? I have fitted an ZL Fairlane Firewall into my XE, which has also had a 351 fitted, as the firewall protrudes further into the Engine bay, there is very little space between the rear of the 351 and the firewall, this causes the problem of the heater hoses bending at an extreme angle and/or coming in contact with the engine. Im trying to find a work around, maybe 90 degree elbows flush up against the firewall, and the hoses running out from there. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

    Clevo 351 in XF Falcon/ZL Fairlane/FE LTD?

Thanks mate, I appreciate your input, could have been a few months earlier though hehehehe, but the elogated holes turned out alright, and the engine fits in nicely, there is room for all hoses at the back and the gearbox fits and there is plenty of manoeuvre room with the tail shaft, so Im a happy man. Your idea does have merit, though. Next time......

    Clevo 351 in XF Falcon/ZL Fairlane/FE LTD?

Where on earth from my comment would you think I wasnt calm or though you were having a go at anyone???? I was just saying how I was told to do it, and its worked for me, along with many others by the sounds of it. Im not intending to put in a different Diff set up so its not going to be an issue, but if you were going to you would still have the same issue with your idea, and I would suggest it would be something you take into consideration.

    Clevo 351 in XF Falcon/ZL Fairlane/FE LTD?

The gearbox crossmember has enough play in its holes to move it forward as well, its only moving half an inch at the most, so not a big movement. There is plenty of length in the tail shaft spline for it to move forward. Why would you muck around welding more plates on when elongating the holes does exactly the same thing? There are other guys on here with far more experience on this than me, they could answer your questions better, but from what Ive seen with mine, its not an issue, as I said, the engine is only moving forward cm, not feet.

    Clevo 351 in XF Falcon/ZL Fairlane/FE LTD?

Thats funny, I wanted to use the adjustable steering column out of my ZL but for some reason it came out a lot further than the XE one, no matter how I played with it, it wouldnt fit. So I kept the original XE column, was disappointed.
  11. Hi guys, Ive made up a decent set of ESP headlights using 2 sets, but Ive found the mirror lenses in the lights have become tarnished and no longer have that mirror finish to give a good light. Does anyone know how to polish them, or how I can go about restoring them to new? Cheers

XE ESP Headlight lenses need polishing

Found out Zeusproducts no longer does small jobs like reflector repolish. Went and seen the guy who does my chroming and he was going to rechrome them. Problem solved.

    XE Headlight repairs

Hi all, Im rebuilding a set of XE ESP headlights from several damaged sets, and I have to replace one of the knobs that control the angle of the reflector, Having a look at the set up which is a knob on the back of the body, connected to a long threaded rod, which screws the reflector holder in and out, this is held in place with a washer and a rubber spacer, but there doesnt seem to be anyway of removing it without damaging it all. Has anyone ever changed one of these over, or have any idea how to do it? Thanks

Electric power steering pump for 351.

Not worried about the VSS, just happy with the power steering the way it is, well for the time being anyway.
  16. It was suggested to me today to maybe have a look at an electric power steering pump for the 351. Sounds like a great idea, but can't seem to find much info about it. Has anyone tried it or seen one and have some info? Cheers

Electric power steering pump for 351.

Thats definitely the way to go, where can you get it from?

Electric power steering pump for 351.

Well this little project is finished. Mounted the bracket, fitted the pump, 2 new hoses, high pressure one made by Pirtek. Very happy with the result, just need to see how the hoses are affected due to the proximity of the extractors.
  19. Hi, I would love to put a Gilmer Belt drive on my 351, but I want to run power steering and air con as well, I know you can get GIlmer drives with one belt slot for the power steering, can you get them with two belt slots? Or is there another way of doing it? Cheers

Gilmer set up with power steering and air con

Ok bit of an update. Astra P/S pump purchased and positioned, this gets rid of a belt driven accessory, as a result I have fitted a Gilmer belt, with one belt slot, this will be for the Air Con Compressor, which allows it to sit very close to where it does on a I6, therefore hoping that I can use the existing air con hoses with little modification.

Electric power steering pump for 351.

Well I have the Astra P/S Pump, now to get in and install it and wait for Rawdeals hoses to arrive.

Gilmer set up with power steering and air con

Pretty much given up the idea of the Gilmer belt drive. Im still searching for a replacement power steering pump and bracket, but it was suggested to me today to maybe look at an electrical power steering pump for the 351,Has anyone tried this?
