Drive a modern turbo engine for evidence of what Slydog is talking about. Instant torque and a perfectly flat torque curve (plateau/table?) from about 1500 rpm (under stall speed) to 4 or 5 thousand rpm. Perfect drivability with great fuel economy, win win.

I agree with this

I have 3 Escorts here with towbars, someone must have towed with them.... won't be me though

looks Sofa king good on those RS wheels
-
I suggest you look for an English style diff as they are much stronger, especially if there is a possibility of a 1600 or 2000 going in there. They are usually easier to find than the tin hat style as they are usually broken. Also, what tyre size did you end up going with on those great looking RS wheels?

So that is something to add to the budget for the engine build
-
So, further on that. With a 10.0 to 1 comp engine, 230 deg at .050 '530 lift cam, 650 cfm 4 barrel style engine that will probably only be revved to 6000 rpm, would a standard 4.1 manual EST put out a reasonable curve?
-
Ok, I haven't checked the operation of the EST. The revs will be kept sensible However, that is the info I am after if the EST isn't well. That way it will be easy to change back once I get the built engine in. BTW Ando, I never throw anything away

Very impressed

There are 1 tonne load rated wheels from the utes if you are after something H/duty

The same happens with Hemi 6 and oil pump drives
