  1. The reason it wasn't running right will be because you have covered up the air bleeds with that top piece, I had to modify mine so that the carb would work properly. An earlier weber would have been better to use as it wouldn't have the tube in the top, I cut one side of the throttle shaft off mine (screw sat flush on the throttle plate) and used button head screws. I milled the top of mine, had Holley jets in it, bored and then sleeved the base plate to take 350 Holley throttle plates and I made a top for mine so that I could bolt a Holley air cleaner on. I will see if I can send you some pics of the one I did.

  2. If anyone is looking for an ICE Ignition system I've got one I plan on selling that has only done 3 race meetings in one of my old speedway cars, 7 amp module, pro coil, voltage booster, dizzy and wiring harness.

  3. Mate, if your on the road daily I don't recommend being too loud. My xf has 2.5 inch single free flow muffler out of extractors and 2.5 inch tail pipe. I got 3 e.p.a letters within 18 months a while back, without even driving like a revhead. Had to get it tested and it was 8 or so decibels louder than the acceptable level so I had to go back to standard 2 inch drinking straw pipe to be legal. I love the sound of loud pipes so I made up a 2 bolt flange to remove the loud pipe and fit up the standard. Just get it tested and bolt the good pipe back on once it complies :)

just make a plate out of tin with small holes in it and bolt that in-between the two bolt flanges.

  4. Yeah mate real happy.  They perform really well as cast but with a few minor touches on the high speed side of the port face they really take off.  To date that is all we have done to them.  I'm sure there is more in them but I'm reluctant to play too much.

To answer your question about how many are out there - Not as many as I or Mark would like. lol.  Most people are happy to pay someone $1500 for a cut and shut manifold that has not been tested but they seem to balk at considerably less than that for a manifold that has tried and proven results.  I don't understand it myself.  Guess its just human nature.

What manifold is the new one?

  5. Spot on. Low lift figures create the acceleration required to overcome the restriction in the manifold. More duration on the cam also helps, more time for air fuel to enter equals more power.

Boys ran their race car up on the dyno yesterday with the new manifold fitted. 25hp gain and they were still pulling fuel out of it. They ran out of jets at 12.1 AFR so there is still plenty in it. Another happy customer.

What manifold are they using now and what were they using?

  6. Tony I think you are spot on with your prediction.

Duckboy yeah wolfy only races locally mate, drop me a PM when your in Albany so I can come down and say hello. I Looked up the Albany speedway website and his name wasn't under the drivers list so I don't know what the go is there, maybe they haven't updated the website as he said he wasn't racing but has now changed his mind, He races a grey XF.

If you really want to get your name out there you need to get your stuff on a car that races at more tracks around WA or even races nationally, there is plenty of guys that travel all over Australia with production sedans and Modified sedans. Over here the production sedans have races in Portland down the bottom of Vic all the way up to Maryborough in Qld.

  7. While the subject of pistons has came up. I have a set of new 200 rod pistons and rings for a 250 sitting in the shed, does anyone know what they would be worth if I was going to sell them?

  8. Duckboy his name is Robert Wolf and is a local bloke here in Albany WA

    .

Ok I've never heard of him and I know or know of pretty much all the production sedan drivers, I take it he pretty much only does the local shows. I'll be over in WA again this season at Easter for the Modified Aus title in Albany, I was over there for the Production Aus title at Collie last season.

This is something alot of people should take on board, always wear your PPE.You might feel like a dork wearing it at home when no-ones around but we all need to be thinking safety first. After a while you get use to it and it's benefits...

I wear riggers gloves, safety glasses, ear muffs, long sleeves and long pants doing any welding cutting/grinding jobs.

Stop making me feel bad, I wear a T-shirt, shorts and thongs (trackies and mockies for winter) for pretty much everything but occasionally I use safety glasses and the welding helmet. :o

  9. The EF chopper wheel has been attempted before, stretching my memory but I believe it fouls on the crossy timing cover.

you are correct Clevo, I use a EF balancer on mine and I had to remove the chopper wheel as it hit the timing cover
