    VCT head swap

Will a VCT head go onto a standard AU block? If not what are the differences? And how do you make the VCT work without a computer, is it as easy as an rpm switch? Been offered a trio of "lucky dips" ones a VCT and if it works it might be worthwhile

0503-014 XD single rail. I have no idea about this "shifter mod" looks standard to me

Dad knows the box, he was the one that moved the shifter, it's done a season of hard racing already. It came out of a low mileage rotten XD 4.1. As to whether its close or wide I don't know. I work for Fuso/Mercedes/Freightliner truck dealership so have plenty of experienced technician's to rebuild it if need be. Just don't want to rebuild it if it's made of porcelain.....

Cool, is it going to take some abuse? Apparently its had the shifter moved ahead to go in a racecar. I'll see when I get it this week (with any luck)

On a side note I've swapped my 3 speed for what I don't know, 4 or 5 speed. From the hazy description I got it sounds like a top loader 4.1 xd box. Is my 4.0l, or my aggressive driving style, going to destroy this first clutch dump?

Well that's weird. Has normal 24mm spline, same as one that slipped straight in. I'm sure this joker must employ morons. Sooooo basically an epic waste of time/found out there's actually a larger spline box....

I think I may have answered my own question. Jumped on exedy.com.au and researched the clutch. Apparently there are 2 different splines in XY-XA gearboxes, a 24mm (standard) and a 27.5mm Heavy Duty box, some. Mustangs and F100s used same box. Just waiting on confirmation from Dad the spline diameter, but I'm pretty sure from the brief time I had the plate in my "labelled" box the slop would've been about right. I'll confirm when I hear back.

Honestly don't know. Dad got it in a bulk speedway parts deal, sat in the shed for years waiting for a car to put it in. I "liberated" the pile of parts when I got this engine. Bellhousing I'm using is an auto bellhousing with an adapter plate on the back. Would be good to know if we need another clutch plate. One we have is very very average

I was thinking Valiant until Dad gave me these numbers tonight. The 72DA is same prefix as on the "labelled" gearbox, but rest of numbers are different. I was thinking maybe F-100? He was gobsmacked as well as he was in the wrecking industry and has 40 years plus building/racing dirt track cars.
  10. I’ve got a 3 speed here we thought was Falcon, but it has a larger input shaft than my “labelled” one. We’re going to put it behind a ahem 3.8 V6 in a race car. Dads curious as to what it is. Has 72DA-7093-AC 050-001-32426 on ID tag. I’ve tried google etc but have had no luck. Hopefully someone here knows how to decode it.
