XC History of Black v Chrome Trim ?

Thanks I'm fine for now , Sorting out all the bits that I need to keep and what to clear out

XC History of Black v Chrome Trim ?

Well , there seems to be more questions opened up Which models had Black , Side 4.9/5.8 Badges ? Should a GXL have Black Bonnet scoops ? Did all GXL's have a Vinyl roof ? Not trying to back to original, just trying to understand what it should have and collect the bits, as its an Original interior Matching numbers 32 Car. Currently she is De-badged, Painted roof, Chrome overriders everything else above the door handles is black even the scoops + wipers.
  3. Does anybody know where I can find out which XC GXL's should have the Black Windscreen /Rear window trim or Chrome trim ? Should a Black Windscreen trim car have Black Overriders + Black Door handles ? Chrome with Chrome ? When were the Black " Ford" Bonnet + Boot letters used ? Or was all this optional on new cars? My car is a 08/78 GXL and has a mixture, I suspect it should all be Black. Any help appreciated. PB

    XC Fuel Sensor R/R

Managed to get another sensor unit and found the float half full of fuel. Opened up a hole and drained it , soldered it up and its good as new. Removed mine from the tank and found it had the same problem , small crack in the float. The 2 units had the cracks in the same place in the copper float. Must be a common weak point. Anyway its all good now.

Cleveland + Edelbrock Carby hard to start when hot ??

Ahhh not so simple , Thanks for the insights !! Petrol sniffing is OK for your health , isn't it ?
  6. This sounds too simple , !! Heat insulation plate ? Starts on the first rev when dead cold, but cranks as if its flooded when hot or even 5 Hours after running ?? Foot on Floor will get it started, but loads of fuel. Engine is new rebuild and new 4Barrel Edelbrock carby, Runs fine otherwise. Is there another solution ??

Looking to do the same on my XC GXL, I have all the original integrated AC parts and keen to know how well your AC rebuild goes. Are you staying with the original compressor for authenticity ? XC GXL Mystery question, Where is the switch for the Rear window demister ?

    XC Fuel Sensor R/R

Many Thanks guys, I didn't want to take it out until I had some 1st hand knowledge. Figured the "new " ones would be dodgy

    XC Fuel Sensor R/R

My 1978 XC GXL Fuel Gauge is OOO It looks like a resistive earth float system, Sensor is reading Open cct to Earth, Gauge moves when Earth applied to lead. Faulty Sensor ! Trouble is, Replacement parts ( Rare spares etc) are available for XA and XB but not XC, So whats the difference ? As the XC has the float unit half way up the side of the fuel tank, Whats the best way to get these units out and sealed back in ? Anybody had to do this ?
