  1. Brakes pedal dragging and can be really touchy and way too hard after

xy 351c astra pump conversion.booster passes basic test and loosened

master cylinder nuts to check rod adjustment and vacuum reading is terribleĀ

at 14 at idle and only reaching 20 at 3000 rpm.

So Iā€™m guessing my power steering pump stealing my vacuum has anyone comeĀ

across this before and any checks ideas too whatā€™s causing this

  2. Hi,I have a screwed water pump bottom thread on a 351 Cleveland xy and timing cover plate looks dodgy

anyway have a few questions best way to deal with this.Q1 itā€™s it possible to drop sump withoutĀ

lifting engine out I have standard sump and have 45/50mm clearance to x member will the sump baffle clear if sway bar removed pulling sump forward and down.

Q2 when sump removed is the timing cover plate straight forward to fitĀ around the crank

    keyway area.

Q3 Or do I fix dodgy water pump thread to next size up on timing plateĀ

  3. Thx for reply gerg yeah it looks pitted in some areas are the sandwich plate straightĀ

forward to fit its looks like two bolts on timing indicator and another bolt opposite side with two dowels. Is it Ā just just three bolts and a gasket or is there something I have overlooked.CheersĀ

  4. Gave my 351c a new water pump for incoming summer and used a zivor cast and its getsĀ

tiny small weeps coming out of bottom.first fitment I usedĀ aviatIon gasket sealant with gasketĀ

and couldnā€™t stop small weeps under driving temp no matter how much I did up bolts.

second time I used water pump gasket maker with gasket and same result .

Should I try different brand water pump maybe alloy type and maybe replace sandwich plate

  5. Looking to convert xy 351c to powersteer so I can the throw its arse out a lot easierĀ

wondering has anyone tried the astra electronic p/s pump set up on a xy and was if up toĀ

standard and is it legal to run that setupĀ

option two. how and where do I get correct parts to convert it the normal powersteer way

does not seem straight forward and anyone nowĀ some specialist in Brisbane to do thisĀ

    conversion.any info please.Ā

  6. I Currently have punch weld with windlace ( I think thatā€™s what it called ) anyway the pitch weld is short in some places up to door scuff plates.Ā
my questions are there any places still supplying these rubbersĀ and were they fitted on xw-xy Fairmonts,gs and gtā€™sĀ

trying to work out to have carpet run up b pillar currently carpet is roughly run

up the pillar up to vinyl seam Ā weld on pillar,I have bought those plastic hookĀ

brackets that sit under door scuff plates but if I run carpets under those I will

have a gap between carpet and the vinyl which is seam blastedĀ to b pillar. Iā€™m thinking only way is to have trimmer run a extension of vinyl or have pillar completely re done in vinyl.Ā

  8. Dam it I jumped the gun it still vibrates on highway cruising at 2600rpm

and above, also feel a lighter vibration in park in same rpm range and above

talking to gearbox builder and he believes the Clevo most likely balanced to previousĀ

    toploader.

were are considered adding some weight to flex plate and observing it gets

better or worse without pulling c4 out yetšŸ¤ž

  9. Recent gearbox swap from toploader to a c4 with 3k stalkier in a xy

Once hitting around 85kph and over I get a surging vibration ,duringĀ

swap I had new tail shaft balanced with new uniā€™s ect.

iā€™m having Tail shaft Ā re checked tomorrow but i thinking itā€™s going

to be something more deep then tailshaft anyone had anything similarĀ

    with this transmission swap.

  10. I have xy 351c/ toploader/9ā€ with 3.20 diff gears have shifting gears issues ,all gear

changes are clunky and 2nd to 3rd is a lot worst I have replaced shifter with a new one

from ford muscle parts ( $795 they saw me coming šŸ¤‘) anyway even with new shifter

the gear changes suck have played with linkages and adjusted to no prevail and hopingĀ

someone out there can answer the following .

Q1. How do I determine the toploader needs rebuild or synchros are the problem rather then shifter.

Q2. Was told toploader was close ratio is there a way to confirm this as 1st gear is very short even with 3.20 diff gears and would like too do a bigger skid before changing gears šŸ¤¬

Q3.how much to rebuild a toploader and is it possible to chance 1st 2nd gear ratios during rebuild or do I need a normal toploader to achieve thisĀ
