Question, If this engine had a carb and ran on petrol ie 98 then was converted to meth how much % more fuel would be needed?? 50, 60, 80, 110?? What rail pressure are you looking at running?

    converting a barra to carb

LOL always something Tony, this engine should run a high 8 sec pass and when it does it will be yeah but you can't beat Ken!! love it. totally different racing programs. No one will beat Ken, NO ONE!! period..... not even a hammer-wielding god engine from FNQld!!!

    converting a barra to carb

LOL Hollywood, those afr's look spot on. 5000 13 .885la 5500 13.25 .90la 6000 13 .885la 6500 12.5 .85la 7000 13.5 .92la I run mine in the same range, even up to .94 every time I roll into the water box and I'm on petrol I'd run more on alcohol. My Crossflow wouldn't go that high but then again you need 10 degrees more timing in a Crossflow then a Barra .88 under load is to rich for these engines mph loss is a result. Barra to the front. Crossflow to the dump!!!!

    CROSSY CAPERS

    I've got 2 bellhousings here!!
  8. Continuing on from my thread on the other forum. I Have recently sold off my crossflow and have decided to try a different route. I'm going to try and get some reasonable times out of my car now being powered by a DOHC FG falcon motor. The plan is to 1st get it in the car then get is running (not that hard when you say it like that) I'll be using my throttle body setup of my old motor and try and use my custom pipes as well. Also looking at my options at the moment as the ecu to control the cams. the rest of the car will be the same as before with the xflow, well thats the plan any way's!!! 1st picture to start off while I'm waiting for the bellhousing, engine came fully complete i have striped it down ready for install.

I guess it would depend on what main fuel tank you are going to use, if the std cortina tank is staying then use the surge tank for sure. If a fuel cell is to be used the way look at it, like my setup is it is basically a 20ltr surge tank. 2 044's will be plenty. Also us you would now the more electrical load you have on the alternator the more hp it will take to drive it, an extra pump in the boot may not seem like much but every Little bit helps, 1 044 will pull upto 15amps!!. I had an alternator drama and had to use a poor quality back up and went from 13.7v average to just over 12.2v and cost a 0.05sec and 1.5mph!!!

O44's don't suck they need to be gravity feed, I did learn that the hard way. I run mine off the bottom of a 20ltr cell in the boot. Only ever run 10ltrs have ha 0 dramas.

Been a while since i have put an update up here, I finished off the last season well then sort of missed the mark in the finial shootout, still learning the car. I have now just been fine tuning the little things and trying different things as well. We did a couple of test n tunes in dec & jan trying a new gearbox pickup setup and changed the cam sensors from magnetic pickup to hall effect of coarse i had to make some mounts for them and they are different intake to exhaust side. I also deiced to get rid of the original door trims and make up some alloy sheet versions to replace them because race car and all. That was all done before the start of the new season. I ran a 1/8th mile radial race recently and had wanted to try E85 again in this engine. So to do that I changed out the injectors then its all in the keyboard tell the ecu what injectors you have, what the molar mass of the fuel is and a couple of other fuel settings and the ecu will re-tune the petrol map to suit E85. The car performed about the same which was expected but man E85 burns nice, all the tops of the pistons were cleaned and all the plugs were nice and clean. I deiced to leave it for now though and head back to 98 and run my regular season on it though. We have been fine tuning the cam timing particularly the exhaust cam. When changing the sensors to hall we now have a better signal and have found some gains there. I can't wait for some cooler weather as so far it's about a 10th of a second faster then this time last year!! Also willowbank have changed the et cutoff for the series I run from 11.50 to 10.50 so no dramas trying to slow the car down in winter. check out the facebook page as well https://www.facebook.com/Jason-Stoodley-Racing-1558367151083789/?notif_t=page_user_activity

Surge tanks and lift pumps are just dead weight in a drag car mate shouldn't need it, just run the efi pump directly off the fuel tank. I have a 36-2 chopper wheel and magnetic sensor to suit ATI that was on my old motor if your interested.

Standard valve springs for cam break in

mate that has happened to me as well get rid of the nolathne bush and replace with a superpro version they are way better. Mine did the same when it was a street car and I replaced them with superpro and they stand the caning I give it on the drag strip no worries.

Standard valve springs for cam break in

I used to run 74/71 336pump cam 28 squirters and 3.5 pv front and rear. Good enough for 11.9 @112ish. man I wish you guys would stop talking in AFR and start talking in Lambda!!!....LOL

    CROSSFLOW extractors

cleveland is to narrow and 460bb is to wide for a crossflow but at the time comp cams made removable tie bar lifters that had enough movement to fit the crossflow most other roller lifters are riveted and don't fit in a crosflow without cutting and welding the tie bar back together. Push rods are basically do all the setup in the valve train then measure and order push rods, trend make them in 100's of different lengths.
  19. fuck it I'm changing to the the fastest NA ford six without pushrods and as many cams as can be fitted!!
  20. Lol the fastest lives in my garage in Qld!!!!
