  1. so, ive been fucking around with my xf and changed the carby, still a stock 34adm, but. i noticed that the throttle return spring at full collapse, is still only 3/4 or so throttle......... yanked that prick out, put a return spring from the inlet mani bolt to the carby and bam, it actually moves now. try it and see if it also works for you!!!

  2. my old xg pano gave up the ghost, stupid auto stays in third nop matter what i change or fix. the solenoids are fucked and it has 309,000 on the clock anyway.. so ive found a xh with GOOD running gear, fully gasketed 4.0ltr with 200,000 kays, and a nice feeling and sounding t5, lsd etc. so xh's are ugly and xg panelvans are awesome. so, plan is to swap it all over, i think the 4ltr in the xh is an xg one anyway.. old styl inlet manifold and rocker cover. probably rebuilt engine.. either way. will the crossmember fit? is it the same as xf and xg? or will i need to find another? and what are any other things to look out for?

     


  3. hey guys, the datsun had protection strips on it, they have all fallen off and left the double sided tape and residue where they once resided. how do i get it off without damaging the paint and scratching it? i cant get the protection strip stuff anymore either so i cant put them back on. it looks beter without them anyway. thanks!


  4. just a question, why cut the fuck out of the firewall, and intrude so much on the cabin, im guessing its for central weight and such but if i were to put a 51' in say a datsun, id mount it as far forward as possible with the radiator in place etc, modify the sump to ft around power steering because obviously itll be a pig to steer, uprate the suspension and brakes. then it would look like a stocker. guess im thinking of driving it alot, not just doing burnouts and drags. haha


  5. hey lads, just got a question, i have a column auto setup from my xd fairmont, im putting it in my xf fairmont. at the moment it is a floor shift auto. with an adjustable column. and power steering. will my column fit? and work right? the xd fairmont also had power steering. 


    also, the xf came with three stock looking auto gearboxes. is there a way to test the gearboxes? cause i want a reasonable one to put in obviously (has no gearbox in it at the moment) and then put my column shift in. and cruise like the old school kinda person i am haha. let me know!

  6. 4 speed toploader will almost never break, a single rail is about as strong but the shifters are annoying they are period correct though. then theres t5's bassically a e series 5 speed manual box but they were in xf's i find they are rather weak in my honest opinion..


  7. well the best part is he rim is a rust fu*ked s pack steelie so i couldnt car less if i warped it, the ends of the axels have bassically mushroomed underneath the little hub covers so thats why they are stuck, ive done some filing and stuff just need to get the sledgy onto it now and see if i can do anything to it haha


  8. Don't.  Soak it in wd, loosen nuts and shake the car side to side with a couple of mates.  should come loose, failing that oxy.

     

    tried this, oiled it up, put it on the ground with backed off wheels nuts so i could see thread just and shook the whole car. did not move, im just gonna get the wheel red hot around the axel i wont heat it obviously and then lever it off hopefully or even do the scissor jack thing haha


  9. Yeah I had an old steelie jambed on a front hub one time on an XF, I jacked it up and from the back of the wheel whist sitting on my bum, kicked the shite out of it

    then turned it 180 and kicked it some more, it aventually come off. Kick and turn kick and turn, seemed to work on the front.

     

    yea did this, tried filing down the rust, got a screwdriver and tried to lever it off (big ass screwdriver) nothing moved at all so im gonna get the oxy on it haha


  10. dude, that is not what i wanted to hear, hahahahaha fuck man, i guess if they dont come off i can just drop the diff out and throw a 9"in haha they are solid though. im gonna have to figure something out. but for now i cant drive it cause the engine is rooted, im actually comtemplating putting a disk brake rear end i have straight in it haha


  11. No paint chart or colour match will ever match that faded, rusted, half sunburnt off paint that is on there now so your pretty much going to have to just invent your own colour to blend in or accept whatever comes out of the gun mate.

  12. yea i wont change the colour or do anything to the paint because i want her to look nice and abused, grandaddy cap thing and slam it with some fluffy dice and the mexican blanket. this is what iv always wanted to do to a ute. so ill do that haha, also i thought about making a tonneau cover out of mexican blankets. then slammed it would look badass. there is a build thread on this car now.
