Yeah roger that. I didn't think it was a 400, looks just like a regular-deck 351 to me. The heads look to be standard 351 castings too. EDIT: Just ran the engine number, it is apparently a September '74 date of production destined for a Falcon 500 Van.

Thanks mate, and yeah interesting setup. The engine number is as follows, I get JG45PB - 41814K. Chassis number below for reference. Interesting find on the rear axle code, though, it apparently is listed for a 1975 1/2 F250 4x2 pickup. Maybe this whole thing is a conversion? Wow.

Evening all. Here's a few pics of the power steer setup and the diff codes. Looks like the standard dual-Dana setup in 4.10 ratio.

Also I'm leaning toward a tray like this to give it some visual bulk... but wider to cover the wheels.

I do like the idea of the blue - on white, I think I might do it. The floors are stuffed and need welding and repainting anyway. I'll most likely use truck bed liner to pain the floor and leave the rest of the cab white inside, then go blue out and white Sunraysia wheels (which I already have). Yes, I'm keeping as much of the stock dash as I can. I fired it up last night and it all works as far as I can tell so that's a huge plus. The aircon unit has had its day (no surprise) but all the components are there. I may see about pulling it down for a refurb and use a more modern impeller and motor for it. If its too far gone internally, I'll just use a knee-freezer type I have laying around from a previous build. More as it comes, I have the day off tomorrow so hopefully can get her up and running. My main concern earlier was finding a VIN to make 101% sure she's not stolen etc... and she's clean as a whistle so lets get to it. - boingk

Got the Chassis number, its AL2JRY 32443... so USA-made, Broadmeadows assembled F250... whats the rest? I can find plenty of data for US trucks but not a whole lot for ours. - boingk

There we go, try that gents.

Hi mate, awesome info. I've got the build code 757703 for my F-truck. Any ideas there? I am missing the VIN plate (floor rust) so am going to get it re-issued. - boingk

Just make a nice streetable 302. http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/28898-400-hp-302-small-block/

I'll be on the Clevo bandwagon again, my XF is off to the scrappers and the engine has a new home in a bloke's speedboat. Here's to lockdown projects!

Here's my closed chamber 351C with the Elgin E-907-P: The heads are definitely worth a quick go-over, even just to take of casting flash and smooth harsh transitions. This will give a nice bump throughout the range. For the cost of a $30 carbide bit from the local hardware store and a bit of elbow grease its well worth it. I wouldn't pay someone to do it as you're better off putting money towards aftermarket heads IMO.

Yeah mate it was all pretty standard stuff. I didn't open the block up at all as it ran well and kept good oil pressure - I just replaced the camshaft, timing set, lifters and intake. Standard pushrods, new hydraulic HT900 lifters from Elgin. I'd recommend new springs and retainers for your valves, but honestly mine was fine with the stock stuff. Mind you it wasn't being used hard, just the occasioanl hard run when getting onto the open road. It's still on the road, too, so can't have been too much trouble for the new owner.

HI mate, I made a 351 with 302C heads, 4bbl intake and a Holley 600 I put a kit through. Went like bejesus, I used an Elgin E-907-P camshaft and it was lovely - good and torquey still down low with a nice rorty idle, then went pretty hard through the midrange when you put your foot down. Compression was about 10.7 to 1 but 95 octane was fine with total timing about 30 degrees and an idle timing of 15.
-
Wait, which intake are you using, the Weiand job or the stocker?

Jam an ebay 3582 on it and you'll be laughing. Seriously, those 7-year-olds in China have really upped their turbo fab game. $500 for a turbo, inercooler, pipes and joiners!? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GT3582-Turbo-For-Ford-Falcon-BA-BF-XR6-FPV-F6-64mm-Pipe-Kits-Intercooler-76/273182478273?hash=item3f9af1cfc1:g:gaEAAOSwT6Va41xP

Down the line I'll probably do it you know... mind you I'd go to an aftermarket block from Dart, or something like that.
-
Nice one, thats actually pretty reasonably priced!

With 58cc / .060 deck / 20cc dish you're looking at 9.35:1 ratio, or 9.45:1 at .030 overbore. You really need to get measurements, but either way I'd be using the 58cc closed chamber head or you might drop into the 7's for compression.

Here ya go, take your pick: Set up for methanol: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Holley-Blow-Through-Carburetor/233464078097?hash=item365b8b1f11:g:OV8AAOSwQOxdWydk AED 750DP: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AED-750HO-BT-Blow-Thru-Holley-Double-Pumper-Carb-Turbo-Supercharger-Through-750/332009777021?epid=593798997&hash=item4d4d53277d:g:1FYAAOSw44BYCmo1

Looking good mate!

Exhaust crossover into a single HX35 turbo where the battery would normally go, relocate it to behind the cab. Single entry onto a hat, boost reference fuel pressure... you're laughing!
-
If you don't get 600 horse I'd be mighty disappointed.

Tuuuuuuuuuuuurboooooooooooooooooo....

That's a schmick looking cleaner my good man. I should probably try and get stuck into the one that came off my old 302C.
