Check out Thom's 4litre thread it's got all the information you'll need mate, you've got a good combo there and I'm pretty sure that an ea cam was voted best for this setup but do check out Thom's thread

Pretty sure mighty car mods did a video on this aswell(if that's not the video your remembering),should have some good ideas in that for you -
I always thought it meant size in mm, i.e. 35mm intake 40mm outlet

Looks good mate, let us know how it works out

No problem mate I'll keep an eye out for one

Yeah mate as said there'll be a shut-off at the tank but just keep in mind that line to the converter will have gas in it under pressure, you might want to cover the fitting with a rag when undoing it so you don't get sprayed in the face

Hey mate have you got a picture of the one your after or is the one in the pic already posted the one your looking for?
-
You could just grab yourself an e-series pump and fix it to the Xd sender, it's a tight fit to get it through the hole in the tank but it works. I had an ed sender laying around and took the pump off it with the filter then cut the outlet pipe off of the Xd sender(in tank side) and used suitable hose to connect the two then used metal zipties to fix the pump firm to the sender. Ended up giving it to me mate and he hasn't had any trouble with it that I've heard. If I remember when I knock off tonight I'll post up a picture of it.

Some great vids there Dave, thanks for sharing them

I probably purchased my first set around 05-06 so maybe they changed after? I bought my last set about a year or two ago and they were just as good as the first ones so perhaps they had some bad batches or something. In regards to hydraulic shocks for x-series does anyone have a brand and/or part number, I've been looking for some but haven't had much luck

I wouldn't be writing off the ultimas yet, I've put them in most of my cars with no problems yet. I went from standard shocks and springs in my ed Fairmont ghia to King springs lows and ultima short strokes and it was hands down the best handling car I've ever driven. They also weren't Chinese when I bought mine, the paperwork with them said they were Canadian from memory?

Always liked the old banana backs, looks like a cool project there mate

Always liked the look of the Moffat red/gold Xb coupes and Xd Fairmonts, probably least favourite looks wise would be Xm or base model au -
There's a whole write-up for the conversion on xfalcon Pete, not sure if anyone has transferred it over here yet
-
Chisel the ends until theres a groove then use an impact driver with an appropriate flat blade bit, I've got a set of those locknuts off a parts car before using this method
-
Cheers for that ando, it was doing my head in trying to get it out, I'll give it a go on the weekend

How did you remove the old seal from the timing cover? I've been trying to get one out for ages now

This is a bit late but don't they sell carby barra engines in the states as generators? think it might have been SparkyDave who posted a link in another thread

Hey guys thought I'd start this thread to get some input on machining a cleveland as I'm about to put mine in to be machined. Just searching for some basics to ask the machinist about and even some special tips and tricks others have found that work well with clevelands. I've got a list of things ready for him but would like a more comprehensive list and understanding aswell so anything you've found that works or doesn't would be great guys cheers.

Yeah mate I've following your thread and others here and have also followed robs build since xfalcon, I've been soaking up as much information as I can. Always found there to be alot of knowledgeable and helpful people both on here and xfalcon so if I run into trouble with anything I know where to ask for advice.
-
Nah your right mate, going to be taking my time on this one anyway as I don't have the ability to focus on one build at a time, cheers for the help

Was going hydraulic 2 barrel, my old man has a TFI sitting in his shed that I've been eyeing off to

Aiming for a tough streeter that can lay some tread but still be taken on a cruise or to get groceries, I know I'm going to have to make some compromises but hopefully as few as possible

Cheers for the replys guys, nah I checked for the markings before posting and the only thing I could find was hf4. I'm getting it machined soon hopefully so I'll get the shop to sort it for me. On a related note where do you guys source your valvetrain components from?
