  1. Thanks, I actually have a ZL mechanism and have spent some time trying to figure out how to do it but haven't managed to come up with a way yet that I like. Your popper idea sounds good, guess i need to spend some time on google to find something that will do the job.
  2. I have a JZ fairlane and I want to make the number plate panel lockable in a similar style to the XF/ZL lockable number plate panels. So I don't have to use a lockable fuel cap. Years ago I had an XD that had an aftermarket cable release for the number plate lock but I haven't seen anything like it since. Does anyone know if there is something on the market or how to adapter a locking mechanism to the XD/ZJ rear number plate panels?

    Water temp sender

Thanks bigcav & crazy, I'll check the resistance this avo when it is at running temp. It reads at 1/2 way on the gauge at normal running temp which I think is high so it will be interesting to find out.

    Water temp sender

thanks mate, I bought a sender for a 6 cyl xd this afternoon. Put it in and it appears to read OK. Would be good to know what the resistance range for the gauge is.

    Water temp sender

Hoping that someone can help out with info, I have an EFI 5 litre engine from a 97 NL. I have an XD dash from unknown origin (I think it was a 6 cylinder but not sure), the instrument cluster is the type with a rev counter. Problem is my temp gauge is not moving at all. I haven't changed the temp sender yet so am pretty sure I will have the wrong one in the engine. The sender I currently have in the engine has the following markings on it. 033 VDO 120oC any ideas on decifering this? I'm assuming that the gauge is looking for a specific ohm reading to specify what temp to read, does anyone know what the resistance range is for the XD dash temp gauge? Is checking the output from the sender as simple as putting a multimeter on the sender post and getting a reading? Stu
