Need a little help i dont know any engine builders that work with the eb-au 4ltr motors and i've just got an eb with an el motor going in and also picked up a head and cam combo to throw on. Does anyone know of someone who can assemble and run in the cam on the brisbane south side i may travel to the gold coast or north side if they've got really good reviews, also wondering how much something like this is gonna cost me?
-
Yeah hopefully it's just that, will get it changed when I do the head and cam. Been so many other noises and little things I've been able to fix it'll be good once it's all done and if it's as simple as a balancer
-
I've recently put a supposedly el motor from wreckers into an eb falcon, Now i've heard that ef and el cranks are balanced differently how do i double check which block i have, its running and everything seems to be fine except i've got a slight vibration from around 1000-1500rpm and looking up that problem tells me to replace the balancer but i used a fairly new one as it came of a rebuilt eb motor with serp belt setup before the aux shaft seized which should be the same as el...
-
Yeah cheers, I'm guessing the upgraded parts are au... Hopefully I don't have dramas with timing a eb head and cam on it with the "revised camshaft to crankshaft timing"
-
yeh i think i've cracked it, looks to be a el-au hybrid motor not sure on the specifics of whats changed... nah still same block, there's a synchronizer or something like that in place of the dizzy from what i can gather
-
Head is 96DA and the block looks to be VR2A took me a while to find the block as it was behind the gearbox support arm thing
-
If they gave me an ef motor then wouldn't using an El balancer throw it out due to the different crank balancing or do they use same?

AU Engine in XC falcon cuts in and out when reved past 2500 rpm

Are you running a cat? if so check to make sure it isn't blocked or collapsed -
I was looking earlier at the crowcam website and the 549 for the au seems the same except total lift and rpm range, I'm still learning cams but would there be a noticeable difference in them?
-
That would be illegal lol the engine is almost in have one more thing to get, then to wait for my head to show up, if I get bored waiting I might drive the 4hrs and get it lol
-
Yeah a may do that now that I know that their partly together already, with the help of a mate. Any ideas for power she'll make with that cam, bigger valves, ported and decked 10thou? The guy reckons it was designed for 250-300
-
Ah ok ill call again Monday and ask for him. The valves and springs are already installed I found out this arvo, just the cam, the gear and rockers need to go on. Got a mate who can do it but doesn't wanna mess with the adjustable vernier lol
-
Yeah its not over the top, I may try a bigger one down the track
-
This is the cam and it came with a vernier gear so I need to change it over as well, seems easy enough to do otherwise
-
Gave engine engineering a call and was told they don't do assembly just machine work, they recommended mechanics 2 u for what I need just waiting for a call back with a quote from them
-
Ah didn't know that sly, but I've heard the hardest part is actually dialling the cam in which I don't have the tools or knowledge to do, I'll keep it to the professionals for now. Awesome thanks guys I'll contact him tomorrow.

Your probably right specially with the alloy to break it up, it's something to think about when it's ready for paint Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Needs some contrast and I think all black would be over doing it Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

I was going to but I may not now cause of the black fittings, probably look at matching the body colour when I get it resprayed Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Here's a mock up shot, not as good looking as yours lol at least not yet Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Ah cheers I'll track one down Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Not when everything is anodised black lol Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Ah that's a relief thought it may have been welded on or something to make it difficult lol no rush figure it should be fine to just go with any of the gm ones but trying to stay away from chrome which they all seem to be Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Cheers bud, was it much work changing the rear stud? Most likely would have to do it as well Sent from my D5503 using Tapatalk

Sorry for the hijack got the same problem love your engine bay hendrix been watching your build thread for a while, but i'm curious will any gm saginaw pump fit those brackets as i have the same setup but my current pump doesn't have the stud for the rear mount? notice there's a few slightly different ones and wanna make sure i get the right one
