Cheers Sly, I reckon someone had told me that a while ago. I liked it because it's had a lot of work done to improve flow, looks like the valves are standard size but all valves, springs, seats and collets look new. It's only done 2000km before the cam gear and dizzy gear got chewed up. I thought maybe a high volume oil pump and poor run in procedure might have done it.

Guilty as charged your honour

I've repaired the thread with a helicoil already but as I tapped one of the threads I noticed the new thread on one of the rocker mounts was very ugly asif I hadn't used enough cutting compound on the tap. It looked like every third thread had been chewed up as I put the tap into the hole. It seems to be holding together almost 1000km since the repair but I've been paranoid of going on any long trips in case it lets go.

It's looking like I won't need to buy a Barina just yet, the new cam and 8cc dished pistons have made it a lot more responsive and it's obviously breathing a lot better coz it has got a louder exhaust note. I don't want to go lower compression so maybe the head isn't going to be much good to me. I liked it because it's been recoed for gas and I thought if it's had flow improved inside the head then it may improve torque.

I'm still not too keen on this head with the repaired rocker arm thread bolt so bought a hf-6 head off eBay that has been refurbished for gas. Not really good pics but can anyone give me opinions on the looks of the chamber.

Why would it worry the boys in blue? I was always told if you went smaller in engine capacity then it was an ok modification. Eg going from 4.1lt to a 4.0lt motor. I thought that was the law in Victoria anyway.

I got given a 220 mixer from Mark "extreme karts xf" so I'm not out of pocket any money but a 300 would be more difficult to mount.

Hi all, I'm after some opinions of who makes a good gas cam to suit my crossflow that I'm going to put in my ute. I just want more bottom end torque for towing and daily driving. I've been told the Crow 14613 is a good cam. Was also told to look for a Wade but they no longer operate. I'm getting a spec sheet sent to me about a Clive gas cam to check it out also. Anyone got any wisdom to share? Its currently dual fuel with a weber carb but am considering going straight gas with an impco mixer onto an efi throttle body. I appreciate any input

So I've got my new engine running and am really happy with it but I'm going to go to straight gas with an impco mixer on an efi manifold. Is a model L impco convertor best suited to a 220 mixer or would a b2 convertor be best? Would appreciate any input

Well I've got the fresh engine in and let's say it's not going to be left behind by and Prius shit boxes now. I've only roughly tuned it coz I only have a cheap timing light so can't tell how far advanced my timing is but it seems really happy where I've got it. Just have to get some kms on the clock and get a good tune before I give it too much of a workout.

Love it mate! Great engine package you've got there for sure

<br />I wish I could put aero chambers and twin 2.5 inch system on my car and get an idle as sweet as that

Ha ha ok mate, I'll take that I guess. I did feel like throwing my balls out the window as he started to pull away though.

I knew at that very moment and thought to myself "I really am failing at life"
-
I've thought about it Dave but I'll leave it as it is now, it has to be an improvement. Worst experience today in my ute as a Prius pulled away from me going up a hill
-
Shit Dave, I've already had the cam installed and all seals replaced so I'm pretty much stuck with it now
-
Beautiful mate, that's what I'm after. I reckon I've only ever revved it to 4000 once so I should be pretty right

Decided to go with a Clive Cam, 207 &207 @50. 110degree love separation and can't remember what he said lift was. I spoke to Clive and that's the one he recommended for more torque and safe to run on standard valve train.
-
Ha ha I see, Dave's been keen to see a turbo hang off the side of it so I was only guessing where he was going there.
-
Reason being Dave??? Forced induction?? I've put 5cc pistons in so that's probably out of the question now and the machine shop said the block had been taken down at some stage too
-
Cheers for the input lads, I've priced a kit and they are $55 to put recoils in it so I might carefully have a crack at that.
-
I've never put a tap into alloy before, just put a bit of cutting compound on it and go steady cutting the tap in the same as going into steel?
-
I've got a spare set and after seeing yours, I might have to get stuck into tidying them up

Love the polished efi bunch of bananas. Is that a big job to get it smooth enough to polish Mr Polson?

So I've been having some trouble with the electronic control box for the cruise. I've been trying to do a self test on the cruise system but cannot get the led on the controller to flash at all. You are supposed to be able to turn the ignition on and push buttons to test all of the sensors and throttle actuator. All I can do is turn the stalk on and off, where the stalk light works but that's as far as it goes. Have checked all connections but still no joy. Has anyone had a dodgy control box before?
