    Intercooler question

I do somewhat agree crazy, being pressurized I think the effect would be somewhat minimal, completely different if the engine had to pull air through it.

    Intercooler question

The first flows 600cfm the second 381cfm. The first one is more realistic in the power it will support. On specs I would go the first one but quality will always be a factor.

Idle adjustment how to minimise difference under load

Yeah just rebuild a 350 and go with that in my opinion.

Idle adjustment how to minimise difference under load

Just put a Holley on it mate, easy to tune and rebuild. Download a tuning tips book from Holley and off you go. The webber is a good carb but once they get worn out they are useless plus all the extra emissions crap and idle solinoids etc etc they just have more parts to play up.

Definitely have another go mate, WA's fastest Cortina will be yours:)

    BUBBLES! In fuel filter.

Yeah might be a tear in the diaphragm, also check the fuel lines for any cracks etc etc as they can suck air, I have had this problem before.

    Water in sump

Just remember to dump the coolant before removing that head bolt, as Sly said reseal that bolt and see how you go.

Yes the 6530 programs a spark curve

Yeah mate I would love to come over in the future and catch up with everyone over there. Bring the datto over and have some fun. 100% going to race it Sly with the crossy, clevo for skids. I have the tube for the cage sitting in the workshop and the steel for the new rear chassis section for the tubs and diff. I am seriously considering going meth like yourself.

Don't get used to it Sly, my crossy powered datto is gonna clean u up one day hahahaha just fucking with ya

No aftermarket dizzy as far as I'm aware, the TFI gives a good solid signal for almost all applications.

Adrian, using a MAP sensor is not needed on a N/A engine, you can and set it up as replacement for vac advance which is just economy based, who needs economy on a worked crossy lol. MAP is a must for boosted applications with the MSD 6530 unit. Trial and error is the way to go unless you can get it sorted on a dyno. Jeremy, the programmable MSD is pn 6530 and is the best way to go in my opinion, the TFI dizzy is a Bosch unit only found on efi XF falcons. Hope that helps

I also agree that the MSD is worth the investment, especially the programmable 6530 you will end up saving money when you don't have to get a dizzy regraphed everytime you slightly mod your engine as you can just change the curve on a laptop and upload it into the car, plus all the other features of the unit.

    Crossflow Powered Anglia Build

I'm interested in more info on the stock looking manifold Mark, is it a speedway orientated thing? If so that's much less work then cutting them in half to port them and then sticking them back together again lol. Hey Sly, I have some pics somewhere I will dig them out, as for pics of engines I never really takes pics, it's always an after thought, plus there's nothing really exciting about a stock looking crossflow with a Holley on it hahaha. I won't mess up Marks thread anymore than I already have so I will post up pics of past projects in my Datsun build thread so you can have a look. As for secrets I don't really have any and I'm more than happy to share what I find. I have just paid for my flow bench setup from the states and hope to have that up and running in the next 4 weeks then I will be posting lots of info and pics. I have a speedway engine that I'm developing at the moment for a local racer down here and I will post up some specs for that too and pics of the pipes I modified as well as the rest of the build, just have to remember to take pics lol. Mark I do hope I haven't caused offence to you as I have said I do think your product is excellent.

    Crossflow Powered Anglia Build

Hey Ando, I would like to see the flow data for sure. Like you said it is a supply and demand thing, the engines that i have built for others aren't ball tearing monsters lol the upper end of the horsepower world won't skimp on an aussiespeed manifold, I would buy and use them on every engine if I could, even the mildest of motors would benefit. I end up cleaning up the runners and reshaping the secondhand intakes instead and they do work reasonably well after that, in some way it is my own fault because I never charge people for that time spent, I just want to get the best out of what I have to work with, the engines I build are generally just for people I know or friends of friends so I don't want to make out I'm some high performance engine building workshop, tho I plan for that to change hahaha. If I start charging the money for the time they may realise it's worth getting the aussiespeed manifolds or they may just pull out of the build altogether who knows. If the prices were lower the demand would rise which would drop manufacturing costs etc etc I don't know if it would work out that way but I thought I would just put it out there.

    Crossflow Powered Anglia Build

I 100% agree Rob, that's why companies like procomp are successful, people nearly always go the cheaper option. The thing with xflows is for the same cost of a new manifold is they can get a redline and carb secondhand and a new cam and lifters for the same money. When I've built engines for others I always try and get them to buy an aussiespeed manifold but they always come back with "I can get this, this and this for the same money". People don't realise the importance of a good intake manifold for an inline 6. Your dealing with a majority of budget restricted demographic when it comes to xflow owners in my opinion.

    Crossflow Powered Anglia Build

That's fair enough Mark, I personally don't see the Australian manufacturing sector surviving unfortuanetly. On a positive note I do recommend your manifolds whenever we talk about combos it just comes down to cost 90% of the time. I would like to see some pics of the project, maybe you could start a project thread on this forum? I am also setting up a 120y coupe to run both a Cleveland and crossflow for development and plan to run your manifold. Thanks

    Crossflow Powered Anglia Build

I'm using an IPhone so maybe an issue with seeing it on that. I totally understand the reasoning for the higher prices, unfortuanetly consumers are price driven, people will always say they want to buy Australian but at the end of the day price and budget will always dictate where the money goes. Your manifolds are very nice and all but nearly every person I have built an engine for or talked to would rather go for a modified secondhand redline or Cain, that's the usual budget of crossflow owners lol. Not knocking your product just the price, is there any room for a price decrease across your product range?

Were's the car?? All I see is a price list for the stuff you sell which is very expensive by the way.

    Intake ports black?

Also the valve seat setup can minimize reversion too
  24. Clevo120Y

    Intake ports black?

Back to the original question, Sly is correct the ports are bad for reversion during the overlap period because of the imbalance between the intake and exhaust flow. The crossy needs both a better intake and exhaust to correct the issue. Can't wait to see your custom work Sly.

    XC xflow swap

This dizzy thing sparked my interest today so I busted out the verniers and a selection of dizzies. What I found is that the XC dizzy has a fatter shaft by just under a mm, at just over 13mm. The est dizzy is 12.5mm. The problem lies in the block itself, the guide hole to the oil pump is only 12.5mm in the 84da and the 86da blocks so the XC points dizzy won't fit and you can't swap shafts as it will have too much play in the dizzy housing. So you either need to get the est system to work or find a tfi dizzy and MSD. I will start a thread later on with all the things I have looked at today including putting together a TFI dizzy guts into an est dizzy for a build I will start for myself later on.
