  1. Yes it’s going well .. wonder what kens thinking? Think we went to school together? Or that yellow 302 Mazda from the older brother  rings a bell from the 90s at saint patty’s blktwn? Great,  but show us some insight on how these times were achieved with the Bonnet up,

    either way.. single 4brl??

  2. Still playing with other aspects of the car before installing.

in this video theres Some intresting aspects, it’s a Blo Thru Turbo 6cyl..video shows some set up  including the return line dumping into the filler hose.

What ignition inputs does it need. Cylinder position and a home like most - and what type of signal (magnetic - magnetic, hall - magnetic or Hall - hall). Cylinder poisition is easy enough using Hall.  home could be a little difficult.

Clarko and I have just finished the crossflow specific crank trigger kits. Uses msd magnets and sensors.

I’m trying to figure all that atm..

    which dissy to run.

(Side note: yes I’m aware of a std Barra that recently run 350hp with just a carb and cams here in QLD ..but im no drag racer, it’s intresting to see what may be out there for the future.)

Back on topic:                                 for ignition control , it’s  going to have to come latter.

here’s the video of the Holley tech rep showing Phasing and dwell.. atm I’m scratching my head TBH as to what Distributor to run.. EST , TFI.

I’m checking on Holley Sniper forums and seeing what USA Ford guys are doing, I will probably contact Holley directly and put it to them.

In years to come people  can look at this...hindsight makes a expert.

I think he means the filler tube, which I can't see a problem with. The breather should come off a tree of lines that screw into the top of the tank via a small manifold, off to the charcoal canister.

Exactly, the big filler hose gets a simple plumb into it ,and the return squirts in there.

(nothing to do with the tank venting /charcoal system)

the complex part for me atm is working out what air cleaner system to run, and how I’d like this motor to look, I like the idea of a blow thru style carb hat connected to a k&N pod or cold air box, but a nice air filter looks good too...and to be making sure I’ve got the right dizzy and Holley connector with plugs and leads to run programable ingnition.. it’s recomended to just do the 4 wire hook up first.. so a lot of guys don’t run the ignition side of Sniper EFi I noticed..( if not controlling timing, that’s a simple 4 wire hook up)

and whats up with everybody bagging REDLINE??! This is a good little Aussie company success story.. who has supported the crossflow motor and others, and I’m happy to have there products on my old car..changing to any manifold is not going to net much on a street motor, the efi should atomise better than a  40yo old carb.

You running a return line/reg or a dead-end system? I don't really like the latter because the pump is always cycling on/off. I reckon it would burn out pretty quickly doing that.

It’s a Return line system.. same as normal EFI..the return line runs back to the tank. It runs a reg inside the Carb so no reg required to run it NA.

there is many instal vids on YouTube, as I do each part will link a video on that subject.

It’s a return line system.. the feed runs into the fuel tank, above the tank. ( where you pump fuel when you fill up there is a large hose between the tank and your rear licence plate.. the return hose plumbs into that)

  7. Thanks Ando, very goodinfo.

I probably will run it a little fat ( no “Hollywood runs” here) I remember talking to ultra flow 15years back ,  It was made for even flow, I think he wanted about $650 back then.

I’m interested to try different  manifolds down the road..

ATM I have yet to figure out the best way to intergrate the sniper ignition timing control..EST /TFI...Probably the XF distributor and I think , I  need to order a specific connector with all that. It’s a latter addition.

  8. So last piece of the puzzle before installing,  I decided to do my own fuel system. I believe the fuel pump Holley normally supplied with Sniper are Walbro pumps..

Looking at what others have done, and for a good budget pump , I ordered the Walbro GSL392 ( 255)  and in-line mounting kit.

  9. I’ve spoken with them as I’ve had a few of there manifolds through in both 2brl and 4brl versions..but that’s the thing, as a starting point there’s a lot of 250 out there with the  Redline manifold.

I think I will hold off on another manifold ATM, because I may use this Holley Sniper EFi to simplify fitting  in a much newer motor, and that may require a Aussie Speed manifold.

Very interested in this, as I was ready to pull the trigger and buy the 4 barrel version to eventually boost it.

I would do it if you can before they put Tax on everything

Nice kit.  Whats your engine specs so far..?

It’s just your basic 250 crossflow Xe 4sp manual with 126klms on the clock..

The engine has a redline tourqer manifold and extractors I’m led to believe it has a mild cam in it too. Engine is in good condition.

other than the Sniper Efi, I have a set of AU thermo fans for it and yes the Sniper EFI controls  fans to, so no need to buy a fan controller ki..it may also be able to control a EWP..

This car purpose is to be a classic daily driver atm but there should be some scope for future development.

  12. After looking at some options I decided to go with the Holley Sniper EFI kit..

for those unfamiliar with these this is the new Holley Carb replacement system. There’s a bunch of Videos on YouTube about the sniper EFi, but a quick run down:

yes they can be boosted, they self learn, they can control ignition too, they are a touch screen like your IPhone.. for deeper tuning they plug into your laptop and once there can be tuned even more.

I spoke to Holley directly and the 2brl kit was the suggested option. It’s good for it’s 350hp and flows 500cfm.. ( they can go more boosted) , They also informed me that they havnt sent the 2barrel version to Australia yet.. so this is the 1st one!

In this thread I will try to go through my process of installing it.. some say it’s a 2 hour job to install and drive.. I never work that quick.

  13. Motivator NHM 550 extractors off my XE..

this my new build , it’s as old as the hills and hasn’t seen the streets for 20years..(126k the clock I think is genuine, there’s no rust in the car, but it’s body has been bumped around a bit)

Anyway, I pulled these old Motivator extractors off, they  look mandrel bent, no kinks..even turns, not bad I guess..better than the genie press bent stuff I’ve seen..

    6 -3-2 design I think.. merged into a 2 1/2” pipe.

I pulled them off to go to my ceremic coater with some other stuff on this years build, and  I noticed there’s a dual pattern bolting flange.

Question is whats the  other motor they fit?

I’m guessing it’s the Iron head, but only other thing I can think off is the XG 4.0.

Are the port spacing the same on the 250 crossflow and 4.0 OHC exhausts, Bottom bolts the same but the top has 2 different bolt flanges..? The iron head was different wasn’t it?  Iron head or OHC 4.0??

xg is all I can think if it’s not that heavy old  iron head?

Ran the part number and nothing on google..

I think Motivator Extractors was Lukey or Walker.. I can’t even find any info on that..one person said there pacemaker..

stummped atm , they look ok, but just curious before I send this lot off for some shinny coating.

  14. Further Update: grew up in the States and  have family there so  im all sorted now..got a good deal!

2 barrel sniper master kit is sorted and on way.. I will do a thread on OZfalcon to show it’s fit up.

I could have gone the 4 barrel version, but for what I’m doing there’s no point.. the flow is around 500cfm from a 2 barrel Sniper  and I suspect it may atomise better on a mild 4.0 or 4.1.

im keeping the Redline Tourqer manifold for the moment to compare against others at a latter date.

  15. Well  as a update:

im about try order this , but keep running into import charges that are adding a few 100 to the cost..

Looking at all options from Holley and FiTech, yet still getting slugged with import charges.. checking out govt websites I shouldn’t have to pay a import  charge on under 1k total including postage ..

So hunting hard to try find the best deal.. of course I’d rather Holley but those import charges add another 300+ I’d rather not deal with.. at the end of the day it’s not that cheap, especially thanks to the import charges..hmmmm.. I will keep hunting ,but any tips on buying?

  16. A bit further back it was mentioned about the tool ( it’s a square block) to wind in the calliper, this is available from super cheap for a $20 or so.. I set caliper up with a gclamp or vice from memory to hold it , and the tool did the job winding it in, I put a extension bar into the square with a ratchet... there a universal thing designed to fit many Calipers.

just wanted to add some input..

I think the most common complaint is people having rpm noise or similar with leads and things being to close to the ecu, but a well planned layout should sort that.

    I’ll be watching. emoji106.png🤟

Yes I’ve read that too.. this is new stuff so we are all on the ground floor..

this isn’t the McGee injection we tried ( my older brother tried that stuff) on in the 80s, as Steve Morris stated “ this IS Holleys  carb replacement!”

Sorry NZXD, I had edited it in now to that above post, I’m going the basic 2 barrel system.. it’s all I need for a basic street car..

most of you guys are little more hardcore,  so I guess a 4 barrel would be better suited to you. But there’s some real big systems coming by the looks of it from Holley... Dyno tuners for carbs are going to be scratching soon.

As for my humble project will let you guys know how it goes.
