    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

Sounds like a first world problem.
  4. Lads I need to replace my front rotors on my daily.I have a shocking vibration on medium to heavy braking. I know brakes are overrated their only good for one thing. I have been using Highway brake and clutch in Campbellfield (Melb.) for bits and pieces over the years. Rotors are $32.00 each and new pads $35.00 a set ,not sure of the brand probably a generic budget type. Should I lash out on some decent bendix ones ? Are Bendix just a well advertised brand ? Or is there any other suggestion's ?

    New rotors and pads

Thanks for the advise lads. I just picked up the rotors and pads . The rotors are R.D.A The pads are Q.F.M ceramic premium. There wasn't anyone that could get close to the price $ 107 all up , for a cash sale wood duck like me ! Fitting is $50 ,while I get my 10,000 km free tyre rotation done. One brake place wanted $350 to machine 2 x rotors and fit 1 x set of new pads. $157 supply and fit ... No brainer.

    Driving light recommendations please

I used to have them in my ZB back in the day . After running them for a while they would suck the juice out of the battery. I would have to remember to turn them off 10 mins before i stopped driving to give the battery a bit of catch up. Otherwise sometimes they would send the battery flat and fairlane no start. More penetration into the night than honeymooner.

Torque Convertor BW 35 vs BW 40

Turns out the XE tranny was a BW 40 as well. Brought it home all seems fine. Mechanics even said they wouldn't have changed the torque converter even if was in the ute. Funny the auto guy was adamant it would make a difference.
  11. I got a 88 xf auto ute given to me. It had a dodgy BW 40 trans in it . I have a doner Xe maybe BW35 or Bw 40 (cant remember) that I got the tranny and torque convertor out of. I sent the ute to get the trans swapped but forgot to send the torque convertor. So the torque convertor that was mated with the Xe Bw 35 didn't go in. So now I have the Xe tranny BW 35 in the Xf. without the factory mated torque convertor. I did get the speedo drive plastic cog to changed over . Form the xe one to xf style I think the xf one was green. So it has a XE BW 35 tranny with a XF BW40 torque convertor. Is this going to cause any dramas ?

    birdshit paint

Back in the day we used to use a paint called birdshit to freshen up ute tubs. I have a project that need lots of welding in the tub and want cover up a million sins. Its just a work hack but need to present it for a roadworthy. Is this stuff still around or is there something else that's taken its place ?

sierra tan bench seat in panelvan?

The trim codes with numbers behind them are the only indicator it is a factory S Pack. And underneath sway bars are upsized to 24 mm on 6 cyl and 28 mm on v8.

sierra tan bench seat in panelvan?

That upper back seat panel is from a S pack. I have that trim in mine. Sierra tan plain vinyl rear door cards are super rare. Most S packs are beige or blue Sierra tan S pack was one of the least liked/ordered from new.

    Nyogel

I picked up the car on Friday. As expected "no codes logged" Visual inspection by the technician found a loose main earth Where the body and chassis is located. While I was waiting at the service desk I overheard one of the service advisors on the phone. Hello Mr customer "you have no brake lights in your Captiva " We have had the technician rectify the issue 2 new globes supplied and installed. Cost $55 W.T.F.

    Nyogel

Lads I am having an intermittent stalling issue (twice in two weeks) with my daily. Flame proof suit now being fitted. Its a v6 2008 ve berlina. Its at the stealer ship now ,getting diagnosed. The is no warning light on the dash and I doubt any codes have been left in the E.C.U. The service advisor suggested I have a look at the looms under the inlet cover. He said to go thru and unplug and blow out the connectors then coat them with with Nyogel. Ive never heard of it, it just sounds like silicone. I looked on google but cant find a stockist in Melbourne. Is there an equivalent product at repco or S.C.A ? Cheers Russ

    Tyre Recommendation

Ando Not sure where you live. I just had my Turanzas replaced with Toyo's at Resevoir Tyrepower. Set of 4 tyres and 4 wheel alignment $630.00. I had my eyes set on the Turanzas given the life span.Best tyres ive had in 30 years of driving. They had 3 for 4 offer going the month before (March) but offered the toyo's to me on the 17th April. For the same deal. I cant praise them enough. Honest knowledge, transparent, no bullshit. One of the owners is a petrol head. The front end alignment is spot on.

    Tyre Recommendation

30k per year and happy with 50 k life. So in less than 2 years a new set will be required. So it sounds like you are defiantly looking for gripping tyre yeah ?

    Tyre Recommendation

What size ? At $1600.00 per set I would imagine 80,000 kms easy. Do you cant grip /performance or distance /comfort ? I have just ended a 90,000 km lifespan on Bridgestone turanza's. They are $250 ea in 17 inch.
  21. Last night we fitted up some king springs to the rear of the Xe. There is a bracket at brake line junction that joins to the diff breather. Its a l shaped pressed metal one with one side that has the diff contour on it. What is it supposed to do ? As i couldn't get the breather hose nipple into the diff with this in the way ?
