I recently fitted a new SRP driver's side front seat belt to my AUII Falcon. Works well but the lower nut on the SRP is held in with a thin sheet clip arrived already broken in the packaging. I TIG welded the nut in place and was good to go. (The original nut was pressed or welded) It pays to inspect even new parts before fitting them! -

Engine has about 8000km since install and has no issues or leaks.

Hybrid EL engines with AU parts are covered in this topic on autofix. https://autofix.com.au/blog/el-falcon-hybrid-engine-camshaft-timing cheers Bill.

Yes the forum is awesome as I have had some great tips from members to make the job easier and to buy the right parts. Thanks for the kind words gents. Cheers Bill.

Thanks deankdx, I am also in the process of making this rear main seal install tool. The drawing is from the AUII factory manual. cheers Bill

Hello all, I have not posted much recently as my spare time has been taken up getting the ute engine up to scratch with valuable info from members here. Pictures are worth a thousand words... cheers Bill

No worries, which section would be the best? cheers Bill

Hello Dave, I have one on AU1 BEM door lock update, BA Power Steering Shudder TSB 98R/04, BA & BF Power Steering Gears Clunks, Creaks Knocks, Etc. TSB 04R/06. And one by the AAAE on AU Vs BA alternators. That's it. I just save these when I find them in case they become useful. Let me know if I can help cheers Bill

Something I found out the hard way a few years ago and am posting this so Ford can sell a few more of those O rings and the ferrule ;-)
-
Thanks Valvebouncer, I did get the Permaseal set thanks. As the AU only came out with the MLS head gasket I think the Ford manual would have the correct torque settings? cheers Bill
-
Thanks SPArKy_Dave, no shortcuts on this baby! cheers Bill
-
Finally got back on to this, the head is off and everything is looking pretty good. With the MLS head gasket, it is genuine Ford 10 years old and has been stored well. Is it ok to use given the years sitting on the shelf? cheers Bill
-
Thanks for your input Thom. Yes, the timing cover was leaking along with the tensioner and the oil pan. The O rings throughout are brittle and I will be replacing all these with viton. I do plan on keeping the ute for many more years so this overhaul apart from being enjoyable will keep it in good condition and hopefully the leaks to a minimum. Any experiences on the longevity of the MLS head gaskets? cheers Bill

Thanks Valvebouncer! I learned something new today. cheers Bill
