hey, what's wrong with that? that's point of DIY isn't it? save money!
-
well it should be in the loom if you have used it from a car that had power mirrors. you'll have to trace all wires and see which ones aren't being used and that will leave you with what should be the mirrors. they aren't hard to work out anyway, you can use a 5core trailer wire and run that from right to left of your car to control the left mirror, as power windows, you just basically have to get power to the master switch and it'll do the rest.
-
it should all relate back to you wiring loom in your doors. I remember you doing the power windows, the power mirrors should be intertwined in that loom and the basis for the power will be at the middle console, if you are using a xd-e console switch

you'll have to add them

Easy to do as above. Better to move whole doors across, esp if they have electric mirrors and door locks. then easy has getting looms to middle console (in xe) and then getting power to the console for ignition. I did it myself in my XF ute with fairlane doors with a fairlane console. its just getting the looms to through the door to the console, that is the only if you call it, the hardest part. Xf's are a little different obviously because the control panel is on the door (hence why I went for the xe/zk set-up) but its all basic. EF onwards is the annoying ones because they run off the ECU next to the steering wheel. But shiot easy job to do in xe. -

Ok, I know a fair whack about x series cars a book load on e series but the smartlock (f*ckuplock) always gets me. Some of you might know I have a DC LTD that has been converted to ED XR6 motor and 5 speed box. It was done dodgey and wires were everywhere and you had to riggle wires to get smartlock to kick out and allow the car to start. so I ripped the whole dodgey loom out and smartlock box and installed a new loom and box. Re-tuned the box and got it to start a few times then it started playing up again with the smartlock light showing smartlock was the problem. I changed the box again and same thing. Even with the two wire bypass, still to no avail. So I red in another thread about a bypass module and found one on evilBay but will it work in the DC with the set up it has?? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Smartlock-Module-Bypass-Override-Code-generator-/181168121103?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a2e76250f

well I think that's where I saw it. I wouldn't think it would be that hard really, and maybe should come with a gasp of an idea instruction manual. but that is basically my question, can it be done on the DC?
-
yeah I tried the two wires and tried the reprograming a new module in it but end up with the same problem after 2 or 3 starts. so thinking of doing away with it altogether if theres away, hence the reason I saw the bypass module
-
oh ok, yeah I think I checked all fuses but ill re-do again but still seems it was something to do with Smartlock set up
-
and if they don't? I honestly cant remember, its been like 2-3months since I last worked on it
-
that'll be great. It was a great car when it started, flew along really well, only drove it a few times and wanted to rego it and drive it full time but then it started playing up more and now wont start at all so annoying! cant remember now, its in storage now which is more annoying. I was going to spend a fortune at an auto elect to get it running but run out of time so it was put away but now I find this module!!

Yeah that's my point, its the same everywhere. the whole system is flawed. you could pass a roady in jan, then in march your tires are bald-ish and then you have to go back anyway (if you get a defect obviously). But they need to take the powers away from cops and start an actual sector for on road vechile inspectors. cops don't know there ar*e from their face when it comes to cars and need to stop wasting everyones time Jay Weatherall dude -

Nice. Agree with both. Its funny, if you were to ask 80% of the people in SA, they couldn't even tell who the Premier is! -

yeah I agree, we are all just sheep following. its the blind leading the blind. doesn't matter who you vote in, they are all the same. you can buy and brand of sock you like, it eventually becomes full of holes, stinks and just causes you more pain -

sorry to say, if you think the eastern states have better roadies, far from that. the corruption is much worse in the eastern states with their roadies as it just goes to a 'approved' mechanic and they choose if your car goes on the road or not. they can take basically any fee they want, and cash under the table. ive had cars fail over there for having a f*cking seatbelt twisted. not at the mount, just twisted, took 15secs to untwist it. had another one fail for the trailer plug being bolted in upside down (the tab was on top, instead of the bottom). The government takes coffers from the 'approved' mechanics and arse rapes them with fees which in turn they pass their attitude on. I know im prob gonna get abuse from this but that's my experience with them. SA is the only state in Australia now that doesn't require these stupid checks, and im enjoying the time before all the do-gooders get their way and we have them introduced. I still cant get over how much that stupid logo cost
