  1. Hi all, I have a c1 head that has had the three screw holes in the top filled with some kind of metal. Does anybody know if this is how some of these heads came from factory or did sombody do it for some reason. I have not seen it on any other heads59d715491e68f58771e2c16b3da848fd.jpg

  2. So this is my plan, going to get some angle bent up with the top lip bent over. Then make up a jig so I can stamp the lower lip in, then cut some key ways into the roof Flange and match new new pieces into that, I don’t think I explained it very well, I will probably start a build thread and put some pictures up soon

  3. Thanks guys, I think if I keep taking it back until it’s clean steal and treating it I should be able to make a sound repair, the only thing I think I might have trouble with is the little lip on the bottom that the mouldings clips to.

  4. Hi all. I am about to tackle the drip rails on my xc. It’s the last of the rust repairs( saved the best till last). I can’t find any repair sections available and the sheet metal guys i have talked to aren’t interested or don’t have the right gear. Does any body know were to get repair sections from or had any luck making them themselves761f8d7637ecbad98698414165fe2cf8.jpg

  5. I use and recommend Engine Engineering at Rocklea. I send my stuff 1800kilometres to them.  Why? Cause they are good. They treat x flows with respect, something other machine shops struggle to do.

Had another mate recommend engine engineering. He has been using them for 20 years and could not speak highly enough of them.

  6. Yup as above and give the ironhead to ando so he can flow test it for shits n giggles!!! Coz ironhead is missing from the flowbench section lol

Yeah it’s funny that there is no info readily available for the iron head. I’ve been looking to find the chamber size with no luck

  7. The part number on the pistons generally tell you if it’s oversize. Nothing wrong with over sizing as long as it’s not overboard

Talked to a mate and he told me if I can’t find a oversized stamp on the piston then I measured it wrong. He was right both ways as I cleaned up the top of the pistons and found a 030 stamp on the top.

  8. Just wasn’t 100% sure about the history of the car. Wanted to check it all out to be sure, plus it had been sitting for a while. And I want to bump up the compression a bit as well. I thought the best way would be to replace the massive dish pistons that were in it. It had a iron head that I’m replacing as with a alloy. And I’m painting the car so it was coming out anyway.

  9. Hi all. I am rebuilding a xc falcon. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and has only done about 5000 kms since. After tearing it down I could still see hone marks in the cylinders and all seals bearings etc still looked barely worn in.it had a aftermarket standard cam standard crank and rods and aprox 28 cc dish pistons.I would like to use the original block but I just took some measurements and the cylinders measure around 94.4. Does this mean it has already been bored out 40 thousands of an inch? And would I be better of starting with an new block. It will not be a super high power engine, plans are midrange cam, standard crank and rods, c1 alloy head with standard valves and bigger springs, efi with aftermarket ecu(probably mega squirt if I dont pick up anything else in the mean time) 6 3 1 extractors and 2.5 inch exhaust, msd 6 al ignition. I have most of the combo already just got to get cam, new pistons and ecu. Thanks guys

  10. Yeah sorry, must of had one too many when I wrote that.

It is going into a xc falcon 500. With had under dash a/c fitted but under dash unit was missing when I bought the car.

The guy I got the integrated a/c heater box from said it was from a xc but didn’t specify variant, it has may 77 stamp on it.

I’m not to worried about the electrical side more more if I need to get vacuum switches for the dash and if the ducting is different

  11. Hi all. I just bought a heater box with interfered ac and noticed a few vacuum operated levers. Has any body done this swap and knows if I have to get different switches or if I can fit the wire operated levers to the new box. I know I will have to relocate holes on fire wall and drill one extra mount but not sure how much more is involved.
