My LSD was whining in my old xd ghia 351 and I thought okay I'll get rebuilt soon! and when I did a trip from bairnsdale to Melbourne I was doing 170kms and all of sudden it really winned loud!! Then when I tried slowing down it started shaking and locking up at speeds over 100kms, so all I could do was speed back up to 170kms were it would smooth out till I got to a safer area to pull over. Anyways flat ground on side of road appeared. So started to slow down locked up at 80kms so put my foot back down the throttle to push it off the road. Locked up on the grass! Smoke everywhere dry grass started smouldering. Had stand there for hours making sure I didn't start a grass fire, out back way of bengworden with no passer byers, no reception, anyways eventually got a hitch then towed the car back later. Pulled the diff out bone dry inside and everything was twisted melted and mashed!!....So make sure not to push high speeds lol
Would've been scary mate lol!!

So would it be cheaper to fit an e series LSD what's involved in doing that ?
Cheers Joel!!

Ok I'll admit I do a few skids and drifts on the grass and on the road the LSD used to throw me side ways easy when Turing a corner now all it does is spin both wheels but than singles like a commo. When I'm on the wet grass the diff does alright doubles up but wines like a bitch is it on the out or pretty much rooted ? How much to rebuild if it's worth it ? Thanks guys

Hey mate is the issue fixed Mate I hade really similar issues mine was the idle control solenoid to test it pull the wire off the solenoid and your motor should stall. If it doesn't your ICS could e buggered I took mine out and chopped the pin off and blew it out so nothing goes in to the carbie and she ran beautifully after that.

This made me check mine I was ready for a big mess since the has rust anyway but it's as clean as a whistle
Cheers Joel!!

Mine must of been faulty cause as soon as I pulled it out and chopped the pin off all things started to work normal again as it's still running like a charm
Cheers Joel!!

It stops fine haha I don't quite get what your asking sorry
Cheers Joel!!

Ok I have pulled out the ICS (idle control solenoid) and held my thump up to the hole to seal it and it ran so much better so I found out the ICS was buggered so I chopped the little rod off put it back in the hole and she runs great better than ever

I have set the timing all to book spec. A little change but than it runs like crap again and yes I tighten the clamp back up
Cheers Joel!!
So you bridged the T terminal, checked and adjusted the timing, and then removed the jumper? If you don't remove the jumper it will revert to limp mode. If you don't bridge before adjusting, you can be up to 10 degrees out.
Ok thanks. So that's for they type that don't have vacuum advanced timing. Mine doesn't so I will try shorting out the T terminal thanks mate.
Cheers Joel!!

Why do you keep mentioning vac? Stop mucking around with the carby and set the timing according to the procedure in the book. If you don't get your base timing correct, the computer won't know how to compensate and no matter how many times you check the timing it will never be correct.I have set the timing all to book spec. A little change but than it runs like crap again and yes I tighten the clamp back up

Yer it's a 1992 all I can see it a electrical plug going to the dizzy. I was told it could be the idle control solanoid so I tested it. The guy said pull the connected off and the car should die again it did nothing at All
Cheers Joel!!

Ok so it ran good for about an hours stalled at the lights took abit to start.
-
There is no vacuum hose all I can see is a plug with wires no vacuum hoses dizzy parts were dirty as a hookers mouth. Cleaned them up and it runs abit better at this point in time
Cheers Joel!!

I seen that part I'm the book but wasn't sure I will try it this arvo thanks mate. My stupid mistake
Cheers Joel!!

Are you setting the timing correctly for an EST motor? There is a plug you have to short out otherwise this problem can occur. Is it the vacuum plug ? Is it on the dizzy ?
Couldn't find one
Cheers Joel!!

I found out it idles better when it's cold and idles worse when warm it wouldn't idle maccars this morning kept on stalling when I tried to put it into drive after starting it

Thanks mate I have adjusted the rpm and the air mix Screw seems to do next to nothing. It fuel leaking from the top and middle plates ill take a picture tomorrow. We set it at the book spec and when I have her some juice she just had a massive flat spot did nothing and didn't even down change. Thanks again

hey guys i need some help diagnosing a idling problem with my 1992 xf falcon ute (carb) when i set the timing it will never stay on the set mark or anything like that my father recons the timing chain or dizzy could be a tooth out. im thinking of replacing the dizzy leads spark plugs done the air filter. also gave it a coolant flush and engine flush alone with new filter and oil and coolant however doesn't run any better there seems so be abit of leaking around the top and middle plate on the carb might clean it with something and see if it comes back. I haven't searched for air leaks yet will do though. its really running rough at idle at about 600rpm if i yank on the steering wheel while foot on the brake it just about stalls itself its auto stock motor any help would be appreciated
Cheers. Joel!!

^ you're a moron. please take your stupidity else where. risking peoples lives through blatant negligence, good on you. though i am amazed you can double check flogged out ball joints to make sure it'll be sweet to drive.yeah i noticed the rivets straight away... same as my XC when i first got it. though surprisingly my upper balljoints were in decent condition when they came out, minimal slop, was really surprised at how tight they were actually, not quite as good as new ones but seriously surprised me.
Only reason I can't be bothered is because it's not being driven and it's being sorted out running wise. When I get the car in running order than I will replace the upper and lower ball joints. There not that fucked the rubber is just falling off still not that much play so they will be sweet as for a while.
Cheers Joel!!

My lower ball joints are fucked and I haven't replaced them yet I know how to do it done it many times I just cannot be bothered ATM lol it's not a daily driven car also so fuck all the other bad comments dude do it your self just double check everything you do

Is ethanol 98?

I'm having similar problems if I post a video of the rough duel you guys recon you could help out

You can always plug the old falcon dash in to see if it reads differently. You only need to remove the bottom trim that clips under the cluster and goes around the handbrake lever. This will allow you to pull out the two wiring plugs and you can just hold it in place as you start the car to see where the gauge reads. A lot quicker than pulling the whole piece out
