  1. Hi

Have question, what would cause a bit of brake fluid to come out the container on a new master cyl between the container and metal part on master cyl at the o rings or the lid in the ba.

Opened lid on container and it hasn’t lost any and level hasn’t done down.

Had a whole new master cylinder fitted a few weeks ago and everything checked out good.

It doesn’t do it all time, just some.

Is there any chance that it might just be spillage and just a bit full.

    Fluid is at max

    brakes still work ok

    Thanks

i saw this pop up on My youtube, and he looks like he does most of the work with only one arm even.

My rule, if it's not broken, don't fix it
keep it stock (why would you fit a FG engine? just fit another BA engine or buy an FG car when the BA is stuffed?)

engine is ok apart from oil leak, had a question as seen it done, whats answers to rest

  3. hi everyone

not sure if this section or forum is ok to ask the below questions

got a ba ghia as many of you know thats got 300,000km and is a great car however needs the following

all rear bushes including diff bushes (not really causing much trouble at moment just a annoying occasional clunk), diff cradle will need to come out

new rear shockers and springs when bushes get done

front bushes and do ball joints when bushes get done (already have bushes ready to go in just need ball joints)

    new front shockers and springs

brake pads and maybe new disks

aircon gas and probably o rings when getting it regassed

engine oil leak fixed (leaks a little at sump and probably timing cover), just put a bottle of stop leak in every couple months or every oil change

most of it is standard items coming up at that time and wondered what you lot would fix first as cant afford everything all at once plus engine oil leak isnt bad enough to pull the engine out yet.

because of having a demanding job and whatever else how would you save time getting the diff cradle taken out and back in and is there anything that can be done and bought in preperation to minimise time (will get local garage to do it)

bought spare rear control arms to press out and in new bushes and wondered wether it might be worth getting a spare cradle as well, may or may not need new axle shafts as well and hubs.

plan to get shockers and springs and put the front shockers and springs together so garage only has to change as a whole item, same with front control arms (do bushes but get them to do ball joints on spares).

for the aircon dont know what the cost will be to get it fixed and would have to eventually.

for the engine did hear that a ba sump and pickup and dipstick tube will bolt to a fg1 engine and the fg1 engine will then fit a ba/bf but wondered wether a fg2 will be able to have the ba pickup/sump/dipstick tube bolted to the engine.

current engine is ok apart from the oil leak.

apparently there are front brake upgrade kits that you can buy that allows the upgrade to bigger disks but keep original calipers, just wondering if that kit allows you to keep the ghia rims

also got coils and spark plugs to go in as theyre due to be done plus will get rocker cover done while theyre getting done as the coil covers got to come off anyway to get rocker cover off so may as well get it all done.

will the 300,000km old throttle body be ok being put back on as apparently that also has to come off as well or should you find a new one or atleast a lower km one.

will a fg rocker cover fit the b series barra engine and will the b series manifold inlet manifold clear the fg rocker cover (obviously will need the fg coils and the plugs that go along with them), if using the fg cover will the ba vac lines fit and work if you keep the b series manifold or if using fg one could ba lines be made to fit.

will fg heater bypass pipes clear the b series inlet manifold and go on b series thermostat housing, the b series heater pipes also have a 10mm hose connection that joins the 2 together like the older models but wondered if the lines will clear the b series manifold apart from missing the smaller hose as the fg pipes only have the bigger connection that connects the hoses to the firewall.

if they fit and clear the manifold apart from missing the small hose join then can just cut the big hoses and fit t fitting on each to make up for the missing small bypass hose and join back together like you would have with the ba pipes.

also plan to stock up on parts to fix the common faults that could pop up with this and with the heater pipes need to be open to whatever pipes are in the best condition as plan to get new ones.

if anyone has got answers itd be much appreciated.

    thanks

  4. hi everyone.

was wondering to get a deep exhaust note sound similar to the 80s fe ltd or similar to the sound of the boss 5.4 wether just replacing the exhaust with a sports 2.5 inch one is enough or if cams need upgrading too.

looking to get that deep exhaust sound similar to the boss 5.4 or 80s fe ltd not that pop pop bark sound and not too loud just a nice deep sound that you can just hear when taking off and travelling.

what brand sports exhaust would give that sound?

what type of cams if cam upgrade is needed will be needed (is mild performance ones with no valve spring upgrade and preferably no ecu upgrade ok)?

what brand and type of extractors and cat converter will be needed

the oldmans fg sounds similar to a el/au and had similar engine note to the fe ltd and his fg is a barra as well and think its just got standard stuff especially manifold and cat converter.

  5. Hi

Just found out all rear bushes in the ba need doing at some point they’re just starting to wear.

have seen on youtube some people in usa spraying transmission stop leak on the bushes to rejuvenate them and wondering wether that might work for now.

They do have to be done at some point but thinking if it’ll give a year it might be worth spraying as many as you can get to

how long would you give it before they need doing if they only started as need time to save and collect bits

    Thanks

  6. how would you get that deep engine and exhaust sound like most e series and that ltd and the oldmans barra fg sounding close.

would the xr6 turbo exhaust with dual pipes going through single mufflers give that sound and will the xr6 turbo exhaust fit the na xr6/standard na barra, ifso how would you connect it to the standard non turbo cat converter and manifold

Only one I’ve heard that doesn’t sound like a wet fart is a standard turbo exhaust, fitted to a NA car, with the two pipes at the front merged into one to bolt up to the back of the cat.

my son has a xforce on his XR6 that’s going in the bin as soon as my hoist is free.🤮

Will the standard turbo exhaust fit the standard ba and what’s is diameter of pipes

best way to sound awesome like a VT V8 is sell the ford and buy one.

best sounding BA 6s i've heard have been stock, because they sound awful with a loud exhaust, I'm another fan of keeping a ghia completely original.  you don't want it looking or sounding like a P plater car.. unless you are looking to make bogan friends or police attention.. save your money for more important things

the sohc 4.0 from EA to AU sound better especially with a different cam.

a lot of e series and au sound great with a 2.5 even with the back muffler as well.

how would you get your ba to sound like the fe ltd did taking off about 35 seconds into the video in the link (drove the oldmans fg and the engine in that is pretty much same as a ba both being barra and his fg sounded close to the ltd in the video)

  9. hi everyone

most of you lot know that have got a ba ghia 6 cyl and love it, however was wondering if there is a way to get it to sound closer to a v8 if not exact.

when the exhaust thats on it is worn out or when moneys there am planning to get a sports exhaust for it which may help a bit (hopefully will have the money before it wears out).

also thinking of extractors and a new cat converter given the age of car and the cat converter on it

what else would be needed to make it sound closer to a v8.

what type of sports exhaust and what type of cat converter and what type of extractors would give that but be roadworthy and are there any bolt on kits.

    what are good brands.

seen the father with his vt holden v8 and its made me think about it

    thanks

  10. hi everyone

was wondering if the front seats from a ba/bf fairlane will plug straight into the existing wiring harness, will the fairlane front passenger seat plug into the ba ghia harness under existing seat.

with the passenger seat being manual is there plugs under the existing seat in the ba ghia for the motors and switch trim just sitting there or is there only a airbag plug and pre tensioner plug and you have to run the wires for the motors.

is there wires already in the plugs under the manual seat for the electric seat harness and motors with the extra pins not being used or do you have to add them.

with the drivers seat being part electric will the full electric seat plug into the existing floor harness.

will the existing memory module be able to be transfered over and will it plug into the full electric seat plugs and the existing body harness.

will you need a new memory module and ifso will the one that comes with the electric seat work with the existing pedal and mirrors and will it plug into old floor harness.

how have yous gone about upgrading the electric seat to full electric from a fairlane for drivers side and replacing the manual passenger seat with a electric one from a fairlane.

will the rear seat from a fairlane fit the fairmont ghia in the ba. not sure if bolsters are same as sedan but think the fairlanes being lwb might be wider.

does the bf fairmont ghia have a electric passenger seat or is it same as ba where it only has a drivers side part electric.

also will fg front seats fit the ba runners and rails and what about back seat.

front drivers seat has a tear and the top of the rear seat in top section is a bit hard and looking to tidy things up and just throwing ideas as am keeping car long term.

if anyone can please help with answers that would be great.

    thanks

  11. If you got a pipe delete adaptor and used rubber hose all way like in the xf are the custom welded adaptors readily available

will the fg pipes fit the ba barra as engines look same apart from sump and rocker covers

is the coolant tank delete kit with a overflow bottle a problem or is it best to stick to std setup and keep tank

if the custom kit leaked on a trip are replacement available like the standard parts

In a b series where coolant tank has minimum a cold max and a max where should level be hot and cold.

after a month or so the level cold seems to sit just below cold max when cold but over minimum and just over cold max when at temp.

haven’t let it get lower than what’s said but topped it up but can’t see any leaks but did a couple weeks ago smell a little something in cabin but when stopping the tank was still about normal and never got totally empty

  12. hi

With the steel heater pipes will fg ones fit the ba engine both being barra under the ba cast manifold.

It seems only difference is it just has the 3/4 inch hose that goes through heater core and looses the 3/8 hose that bypasses heater core but you could use a t piece.

The fg does have that smaller separate pipe that is attached to the thermostat housing pipe that goes back to left of engine and seems removable as it looks to have brackets that attach to the bracket on other one.

theres some pictures of a ba engine as well to give a idea

stocking up parts for the ba and want to be open to the option of using fg pipes.

also seen fittings that delete the metal heater pipes and wondered if theres other places you can get them and if theyre readily available from sprint repco or auto one if one leaks while on holidays or wether youll be stuck at destination while waiting for that custom part to come in.

also is the coolant tank delete kit a problem on the ba-fg and if not and you go to get one are they also readily available from the normal car shops if that too leaks while on holidays or will you be stuck while waiting for replacement to arrive, seen those kits and noticed people are fitting them, guessing you would need a overflow bottle.

also with the lower intake snorkel where could you get a ba/bf one from, theyre no longer made new, would option of a small bit of pvc pipe and a slip on fitting attached to bottom of airbox work after cutting hole.

    thanks

  13. hi,

looking to buy a newly released aerpro facia for the ba to upgrade the system and headunit and wondered, will the kenwood DMX8520DABS or kenwood DDX9020DABS or kenwood DMX9720XDS headunits fit in the ba/bf/territory using this new aerpro trim https://aerpro.com/.../ford/ford-falcon-2002-2008-ba-bf... without mods, what has to be done if anything to get either those headunits to fit as theyre the standard double din depth

looking to upgrade at some point to this new trim and want a headunit with following features and like those model kenwood units

    1. dab with dab memory as some just have the dab without the memory to program

    2. wireless carplay

    3. dual usb

    4. dual bluetooth

also does the alpine ilx702d and ilx-f309 have dual bluetooth for phone connection

as yous might see the alpine ilx-f309 is same as the sony floating screen stereo and like the alpine floating one

the listed kenwood models are still the full double din chassis even though 2 of the listed models arent cd/dvd

buying a remote cd/dvd player wont be a problem just want one thatll fit in the ba with the new trim with the listed features

also if you end up getting one that is only wired carplay can you get the usb wireless box that has usb pass through, would prefer one with every single listed feature listed

wanting to hear from anyone thats got answers

    thanks

  14. hi

was just wondering with these kits recently released for the ba/bf that allows you to put your own touch screen stereo in where the factory screen was, do you have to have shallow depth stereos because it the kit says its reccomended.

have searched on aerpro in the ba/bf for a few stereos that have got in mind that are full depth and aerpro didnt say that they wouldnt fit

if unplugging the bcm to get the icc out and moving the same bcm to the new trim along with same locking module will there be a security problem  with car not starting or will it start with nothing to be reprogrammed after plugging bcm back in when installing new stereo, will anything need to be programmed again if using the same bcm

does anyone know about the kit

  15. Hi

a while ago have asked about the squeak and creak in the ba ghia front suspension

it only happens at very low speed while braking and was wondering what it likely will be that’s causing it.

ball joints seem ok and sway bar like seem tight but might get them done anyway oneday as they look original or it’s been a while since last done.

can’t seem to move sway bar but thinking of getting the d bushes done too.

    have had quick look

sway bar links and d bushes seem very common in the ba bf

have attached video so you’s can try work out

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/xygtfwp246cxek7/IMG_1565.mp4?dl=0

Doesn’t seem to do it when turning right

    thanks
