    302 Cleveland Build

As a crusier my 302C has been alright, apart from 4.11's killing economy. as a drag car has been a fail. I started the build as I wanted to make around similar power to AU 2or3 XR8, Did a basic reco, hot tanked, honed, all new bearing, moly rings, recoed heads with upgraded valve springs, retainers, locks, hardened pushrods, Crow cam & lifters, cam is a 21603 214/214 @0.050'' .510"/.510" 110lsa makes power till 5500 rpm, edelbrock performer, 650 holley, extractors 2.5" twin exhaust. made 240rwhp last time it was tuned see my build thread link XE V8 drag ute for info & videos of it running

Yes, Sean Clevo120Y sold his flow bench was brought by Scott Cook manifolds/SCM in Ballarat, I've got one of Seans last heads in the shed it's going on my XF utes engine. CHI also have a CNC program, just uploaded there figures in Crossflow porting results

    CLEVELAND ENGINE TALK

Also saw on Roadkill Garage with the Clevo Commando build, (408C 650hp solid roller) about new lifters (solid roller tho) so you don't have to bush lifter bores, I'll look up who made them later. I'd love to build a 440 Clevo, Arrow block 4.125" bore, Scat 4.100" crank, Scott Cook SCM alloy heads, SCM air supremacy intake, BIG high lift solid roller cam, But for now I'll plan a 351 hyd roller or 393/408 AFD. after I rebuild my mates mystery 351c

    What head is this ?

Used to be a C1 C2 or D head, thats had the chamber machined to a open chamber. Seen a few on the forums/facebook, was done to fit later heads to earlier xflows so it wouldn't raise compression too high, XD/XE engine with a C2/D head would be close to 11:1 otherwise.

you can also buy direct from Haltech, or hop on there website for a list of dealers, have thought of elite 2500T in my plans for a turbo barra in falcon/cortina, since I plan to run a Trans braked TH400, or elite 750 for a EFi ITB xflow

    Crossflow alloy head casting numbers

most likely its the standard XE head, XD/XE heads don't have any ID between port 1&2, like the later heads, So open chamber 57ish CC this is what the C2 mark is like

    92 CROSSFLOW REBUILD

I run a dynotec(from precision) stage 2 214/214 @0.050" .495/.495" 111LSA in my daily XF ute, new cam ,lifters & timing chain, ported weber, pacemakers 2.5" exhaust. still has stock valve train, does really want performance valve springs but has done 40,000km as is & towed about 30 cars, regularly gets 11.06-11.2lt/100km highway (col auto 2.92 diff). valve float is 3800ish

    Perfect rim offset 15x8

my shortened diff was a ebay fluke. I can remember SIC351 (orange XD sedan) had 5.75" on 10" rims (4.75" on 8"). I have 255/60r15's on it now, has heaps of room. I did also fit the 295's to my XE sedan & was only 3-5mm from the lower control arm. Pics of clearance in these threads on xfalcon also some before shortened diff with 275's http://www.xfalcon.com/forums/index.php?/topic/40368-xf-rim-backspace/ http://www.xfalcon.com/forums/index.php?/topic/29629-how-do-i-safely-roll-the-gaurds-on-my-xf-to-fit-12slotters-on-it/page-2 I've been thinking of doing the same with some Spak rims except maybe 9" wide, for 275's

    Perfect rim offset 15x8

My dragway indys on my black ute are 4.25" backspace & where to close to outer rear gaurd before i fitted the XY width BW diff with a 275, My 14x8's where 4.5" backspace and fitted a 295 under my ute. (If pics don't work look in photobucket bug thread for a fix for your browser) Dragway's 4.25" 14x8 4.5"

    crossflow porting results

By no means am I having a go at anyone, or against others work, & happy for you to keep any detailed pictures to your self if wanted. I made sure when posting pictures of my CNC ported xflow head to not give away any detailed pics of the ports, just a pic of chamber (which I did myself) showing CNC grooved bowls. as specially since they have there own R&D in that port design & its not my own work to show. & wouldn't even have a clue at its CSA... I don't see posting numerical figures of a port as anything major, as specailly when you freely post flow numbers. but there's no worries here.. I like reading & compering on engines to others, against the build figures & to what they end up producing at the end of the day, to further my knowledge. I'm even very interested to see what power my xflow makes in its current form giving the my cylinder head flows up to 250.8cfm @ .650" & flows 236cfm at peak cam lift as where normally a head flow for a similar engine Ive seen to be around 200-215cfm. Have a good week, catch ya's another day.

    crossflow porting results

I don't see the problem of posting about the CSA size, its only one factor of many in the port design, sure you could post its a say 1.9", If I go out to the shed & could port my head to a 1.9" CSA, but doesn't mean I'm going to get anywhere near the same radius on my short turn, bowl & valve guide shape, & the list goes on... At the port entry you could have not taken as much of the base of the port & worked more on raising the port roof, by no means am I going to make the same port as what you have made,

    2V Head Refresh

Yeah Ben Gatt was at the opening race at Swan Hill Dragway last November with The Wild Bunch. Heads looking nice, might have a go at one of my sets. also reminds me I need to finish off porting the xflow head I started,

    6cyl c4 casefill

I've got a same date coded C6DP, Z servo, 24/24 spline, I was told it came from a mustang 200ci 6, has from what I have figured out to be a small pattern 6cly alloy bellhousing, Has FoMoCo in oval instead of FORD, Will have to check date rings thanks Greg.

    tyre size?

the factory ER70 14. E=200mm,Radail, 70% proflie. funny enough even with the ER70's on my beige XE the speedo still isn't correct LOL. My beige XE runs Silverstone 215/65R14's, Ride & grip is good. Even in heavy rain down Geelong, held the road nicely.

Pick me a cammy for my crossy

    230/236 553/556 cam looks alright, if looking at Crow I'd lean towards 14672 280 231 550" 108LSA, instead of 14650 292 230 522" 113LSA just looking at NZ cam grinders, Auckland cams has a master No. 167 HYD 290/290 230/230 553/553 110LSA & 582 HYD 293/293 234/234 555/555" 108LSA Kelford cams have SX165-D 270 225 541" 110lsa & SX165-E 280/280 230/230 560/560" 109?LSA(both part numbers is for a 253/308 cam but will be able to grind for a crossflow)

    Crossflow do's and dont's.

84DA block should have a 92mm single piece rear main seal, 83 2piece rear main, rest should be same. 3 or 4 bolt balancer is for P/S pulley (xc-xe 3 xf4) Looks to be factory water pump after market would be GMB with pressed plate impalar rather then cast impalar. Timing chains stretch is common, If using a melling oil pump use base plate from stock pump. What's the plans for the build

Any good carbys out there for my 302 Clevo

I'd look at a Quick Fuel Slayer 600 VSF over the holley, has sight glass in fuel bowl, changeable air bleeds, rear jets, down leg boosters & VSF model has side feed fuel bowl (better fuel supply) Holley has fixed air bleeds & no rear jets Is $494.64 at VPW & will need something like a PFEFS2196S fuel rail. http://vpw.com.au/Category/Index/484196

my mild 302C with 650DP, 2800 stalled C4, 4.11LSD, 27" tyre, 100km/h at 3350rpm uses 23lt/100km, Has only been tuned for Drag Racing, have done 17.8lt/100km but not sure how. Bros 302C ZH with 350 holley used 15.3lt/100km going to the AFD last year with a stuffed slipping C4, 3.00 9", 245/60r14's
