Started sorting through the looms today, worked out what is what, and roughly where it belongs. Couple of wires appear to have been cut, and I've found what looks to be a 8 pin plug that's been smashed into 4 pins, so there's a little bit of work ahead... Front section Rear section Better front pic

Hi guys, I'm trying to sort the XG wiring looms to put in my XF ute, and I was hoping somebody here might have the diagrams. Otherwise I'll need to start tracking down an XG repair manual.
-
Thanks for that nos2. Well I'll do my best to keep ya informed gerg, I'll be pulling the crossflow out and dropping in the 4 litre in about a week, maybe 2. Just tryin to find someone that will mod plate it before I begin stripping everything out for the swap. Engine, box and diff are almost ready to go...

XG ignition barrel and door locks
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XTREME KARTS XF's topic in Auto Electrics
I know how bad they are, but don't really have a choice, the key I got with the XG ignition is stuffed, so doesn't work. Besides, a kill switch is already installed for that reason (guess it works, it's been broken into, never taken though) I found brand new XG ignition barrels (with 2 keys) on eBay for $44 shipped, but doesn't come with door locks And I don't really want to change all the door locks to match a new key if I don't have too. If smartlock is disabled with a J3 chip (ordering one this week), do you think it would work? -

I can find out tomorrow bud, mines in storage at the mo, but I'll be goin out to do some work tomorrow, so I can measure it up then if you don't get a response tonight. -
I made the mistake of buying a Borg Warner Single rail 5 speed (507) gearbox. Looks to be in decent condition, pulled it apart today to check the condition of its guts. All looks good. Can anyone tell me if this box will survive normal (and I do mean normal) driving behind a stock, carby 4.1l in an XF ute. Just till I can get a better single rail 4 speed or T5 little bit later down the track. Really just want to get rid of the column auto for now...

Borgy 5 speed (not T5)
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XFute-1JZsoarer's topic in Transmission and Differential
XF was a T5 like the rest, so that's still earlier than EA. But yes, no decent ones till then... -
Borgy 5 speed (not T5)
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XFute-1JZsoarer's topic in Transmission and Differential
Maybe, my point was that it was in the XF as well as the EA, except the XF uses the crossflow bellhousing I was just correcting gerg that falcons used 5 speeds since as early as 1984 Still a fair bit later than the jap cars... -
Cheers Gav Spot on info again mate, thank you for the help.

Borgy 5 speed (not T5)
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XFute-1JZsoarer's topic in Transmission and Differential
XE had a 5 speed, although a rather weak one at that (I actually have 1 for sale. Lol), and the XF came out with a T5 Which incidentally is the bellhousing I've been lookin for (for weeks now) with no such luck, so I'm just going to focus on the entire driveline swap instead I think. Don't want to put too much money into it, as I already have a full XG driveline. -
Looking quite a bit better after a good clean up. Should be good to go now, going to order the "J3" chip as soon as I know what type of tune I want in it. And the back of the board And the J3 chip
-
Ok, I worked out how it's installed after I pulled the ECU apart and saw the "J3" port where the plastic cover clips in to the casing. It all makes perfect sense to me now! Lol
-
After a bit of thought, I've decided that I'm going to order a J3 chip to get around the whole smartlock hassles. And the key I was given doesn't work in the barrel, so I might find another key and barrel from the wreckers. Just wondering if anyone can tell me how it's installed, and do I just leave the smartlock plugged in, or can it be removed from the dash completely? Thanks again in advanced. Jay

Thanks guys, I'll have a quick look.

Cracked open the manual XG ECU, as it is little corroded on the casing, doesn't look to bad inside... Doesn't appear to go all the way down to the board though, so it's not looking too bad now. Is it possible to change the casing with another similar ECU (EB 3.9L) because they look similar? (EB auto on the left XG manual on the right) And I found my EA-ED manual too, so that was a bonus!

Borgy 5 speed (not T5)
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XFute-1JZsoarer's topic in Transmission and Differential
Think I might just focus on the swap instead, I'll chuck the crossy up for sale instead of tryin to destroy a 180000km engine just for shits and giggles. Would have been fun though. Lol. -
How can I tell if it's the old floor or not, is there any telltale signs that could tell me without gutting the interior to see it? Not that it matters I think, it has a rubber floor in it instead of carpets. I'm a little amazed at how cheaply put together an XF ute interior is. Half of it looks like it was slapped in just to cover a hole or something... Lol Appreciate the help guys. Cheers. Jay.

Oh, and it's an 88 model, I dunno if it's got EST, might go have a quick look.
-
Cheers 78xcgxl, I got the laying out part sorted, just wanted to hide most of it where possible. Gav, your a deadset legend mate! That's exactly the sort of info I'm after bud, thank you very much! That module, where did you get it mate? I think I'd rather do that. Does that mean I could use the XF's ignition with it or would I still need to use the XG's one? It's a shame the XG dash is cracked (the XF's is good), I'm going to need to put a dash mat over it or something for now. I just want to get it all in and running, then I think I'll change the dash and cluster for a better one...

XF T5 bellhousing
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XFute-1JZsoarer's topic in Transmission and Differential
Ahhh ok, I got ya mate. Finding info about it is almost making me bold from ripping my hair out. Lol. I think I might give up on it and just focus on getting the swap sorted. Thanks for the help anyway mate, very appreciated! Cheers. Jay. -
Is there any other bellhousing that will bolt a T5 to a crossflow, or is the XF T5 bellhousing it? Don't want to have to fork out big $$$ on a Castlemaine one, and XF ones seem to be elusive... I'm located in SE QLD if anyone knows where I can find one...

Thanks Mr Polson, you been running it with that oil for long, no issues with it I'm guessing? It's a fine line between useful and useless info bud, I found it useful -
XF T5 bellhousing
XFute-1JZsoarer replied to XFute-1JZsoarer's topic in Transmission and Differential
Mr Polson, you think an XC falcon one will be alright, I can get one for $55 posted, but not sure if it will be ok to use? -
