I'm pretty keen to get an aftermarket wheel into the XG.
Mines a floor shift, 94 model.
I googled and found a whole bunch of threads from different forums where everybody has had a shit time getting any boss kit to fit properly. SAAS make a specific XG one but apparently even that doesn't fit right. Some foul the indicator stalk and some don't go on far enough.
What I'm asking is has anybody found one to fit correctly, if so which one!? I'm sick of the boat wheel. Its not like its a rare car, somebody surely has figured it out.

Have a look and see if Aerpro make anything specific. I'm just using their XF one in my XG. Just took the ashtray out as you said.
Used some spare screw grommet things from an XE dash, clipped them in behind it and some black speaker screws into them through the mount holes. Looks almost factory.
I doubt you will find anything else.

EA-EL All the same I think.
AU have a better spray pattern, still fit straight in.
You won't gain any power from bigger injectors. If it runs ok just leave it, otherwise you can get them cleaned but I have no idea if its worth it.
I have some sets of EF/EL ones in the spare parts collection if you want some.

So the wheel sits at a different height in relation to the column, or the spline is different?
My XG just has the standard ED wheel.

The title sums it up.
If I get an aftermarket wheel with boss kit from an XD, will it fit my XG?
I know XE-G is interchangable, when I look at the Saas boss kit catalog they list about half a dozen variations however.
