Is there fuel at the rail?
-
Thanks XM. Will try the 1.4.
-
I used a 1.8 I think last time. I'll use the 1.4 now then. Even with metallic acrylic? Looking at spraying metallic for the first time and I'm a bit worried. I guess as long as it doesn't run it should be OK.

What sort do you have Hendrix? Looks pretty basic. I have one of those Workquip ones Autobarn used to sell for around $100. Worked well for me. I found if the pressure was too low it blocked the tip or cap. Has the same annoying issue with the lid though and it doesnt even fit right. From memory Ants did some nice paintwork, hopefully he will chip in. Iwata, Devilbiss etc are meant to be great. The chinese ones like I have are generally copies of the more expensive ones.

I'm about to order a kit and air cleaner to setup the 350 on the xf. Just a standard motor, I'll be doing the usual extractors and exhaust. What jets, power valve and squirter? Tried googling but xfalcon is down and had most of the info. What size air cleaner will fit? 6 3/8 x 2 1/8 OK? I'll be sure to get a kit with reusable bowl gaskets. Any tips or advice for a complete carby noob? I've never had one apart.

For either a 9 or a 14?
-
After some eBay trolling it looks like a 9x2 drop base is a rare thing. I'll see what jets etc are in it first.
-
28 it is. 9x2 it is. Will find a drop base. Awesome help thanks.
-
Will a 9x2 fit?
-
7448. I'll find a bigger filter then, thanks.
-
Perfect, thanks.

I need a starting point. This is an old carby, I have no idea what's in there. Ill tune it after building and fitting the carb.

Any of those options will be great. I'd go the ute. I love throwing shit in the back when I move a car. Ramps/straps/jacks/wheels/tools. With decent (new or reset) leafs they barely notice. Crossflow still feels good to tow with even compared to the 4.0 or a 5.0 to me. The other thing is you can use it to move all sorts of shit.

ZL/XF power steering, too light.....any fix available?

Interesting. -
Must be the shocks, and the bushes contributing. In my ute I ran SL coils in the front with standard pedders comfort shocks. Rode really well and never bottomed out. I didn't trim the bump stops either. Softer shocks should sort it but you may lose some handling? I haven't heard much good about Monroe shocks for years.

Spray them with penetrant and leave for a while.
-
I like that one too, keen to see it in an XD.

I like the wood wheels. Not sure why.
-
I forgot about those plastic caps. You're right. They did some weird stuff then. EB1 Fairmont had climate but manual windows. Can't remember if EA was the same or not.
-
EB1 and 2 had those same mesh ones. EA Fairmont & Ghia had the turboblades same as EB and ED Fairmont.
-
Those were on all ED Ghias. They didn't change. NC wheels changed very late though, not long before NF.
-
ED had different wheels, just EB with those from factory. Series 1 and 2. Also came on NA Sportsman.
-
Surprised Sparky Dave didn't get in first haha.
