I got the unimig 180 from Adelaide tools. No idea if it does stainless or alloy, should be in the specs. I've used it a fair bit on panel repairs and it works nicely even for me as an amateur. Pretty cheap for what it is I think. Using it with argoshield light and Cigweld wire. The wire it came with worked well, even gasless it works well. After my contact with BOC expires I'll just continue gasless, only using it for all the panel work on the ute but to be honest I think i could get along fine without. I noticed on a mighty car mods video they are using the same one in their workshop.

Love a happy ending.

Doesn't sound like it but make sure its not the oil pressure switch. They go suddenly. If you can deal with the mess I'd say it'll be fine to drive. My old XH pressure switch died about 25kms from a mates place. We had a loaded car trailer on the back. We still drove it back, then returned the trailer and I drove it home before fixing it. It used about 5L for the 10km drive home and tapping away loudly the whole way. Once I filled it and fixed it it wasn't the same but it still ran and drove fine. Just had lower oil pressure haha. If you plan to change the motor, smash some stop leak and thick oil in and drive it.

Yeah Crazy summed it up.

Was the steel wheel you weighed a 14 or 15?

I reckon they've just pushed in when I've done them. Try knocking them in with a flathead and a hammer. That's how they come out. The glass is pretty tough, you won't break it.

But if you can't an XD XE XF or XG one will work. Newer the better obviously.

I have two on my carport floor, one in a parts car and one in the ute. Ando do you know of any filters that fit the Weber aside from the redline and ramflo?
-
Anybody running one or have a pic of what it looks like? I want to run an air cleaner that isn't chrome like the standard redline etc ones, thought the Ramflo type may look good.
-
As long as it doesn't catch fire I'd like one, look the goods.
-
Thought about doing that, shame the selection is so limited. 3 or 4 different styles and that's it.

Can you really go that coarse on plastic and rubber? I've never gone below 320 on a bumper but its painfully slow. If I can get away with it I'll go lower, XD bumper has a few coats.

I have Ultima front shocks in my AU with lowered springs. Pretty firm. The pedders gear has always worked well for me, be it the comfort gas or the sports ryder. Even the comfort gas which are standard bore and stroke work well in the front of a low X series. Does seem to shorten the life though.

XH Ute "Idiot needs help" on transmission, distributer and vaccums

Nasty rust for a later model ute, but not too bad to fix as long as it hasnt gone down to the rail section under the tank.- 11 replies

XH Ute "Idiot needs help" on transmission, distributer and vaccums

Sounds like the timing could be retarded, I'd definitely check that. Theres a procedure to it with these, someone will fill you in on that. Level check sounds like a good idea, should be able to remove the plug and feel the fluid around the bottom of the hole. Does the speedo continue to work properly when the box plays up?- 11 replies

But can he just use the long motor and his sump/pickup/manifolds/ancillaries/sensors/loom etc?

I pulled one off a carby XE and it had a thick rubber spacer under the carby. Who makes that?
-
F is the tan, Fawn I think Ford called it.
-
Nah you're OK Chris. Thought someone may have one with the interior out.

Can anybody please help me with measurements regarding where to fit the shifter hump? I figured it would fall into place but seems to be fouling on the floor brace the later utes have for the later floorpan. Hump is a bolt in type from an XE.
-
Nothing like that. It's a very late XF ute.
-
AU? Is that PVC pipe?
-
Nah. I think that started part way through XE.
