Yeah I've done it before. Use a rivet to push in the pin on the barrel and it slides straight out, then just slide the new one in. Hopefully I can find a column at the wreckers with a key in it! Thanks for mentioning the power steering thing, I'd forgotten that. Bit simpler if I get one from a PS car. I was kind of hoping I could just remove all the extra stuff from the column. Oh well.

Yeah done one Hoped not to do another!

Jesus. I sold a set on ebay for $10 and I've given away a few sets too. Ebays just hopeless now, everyone thinks xd-f parts are worth nos gt xy xa xw rpo wank prices.
-
Havent heard of it. I just picked through all the cars at the wreckers to make a few good sets.

Fixed it. Alt warning globe died, wasnt charging, no choke! Plugged another line and its ok again.

Which vac lines and circuits are the bare minimum for the weber? Mine seems to have had all sorts of bits removed and blocked off. I'd like to get rid of everything it doesn't need to idle and run well. Not concerned with the emissions stuff or even economy, just want to get it running well as a starting point. Apologies if I'm asking stupid questions. I've very limited experience with a carburettor.

Im not removing the line to the booster, i was just testing. Kinda need that one. I suspect a leak there somewhere. More after info on which ones the weber needs and which can be eliminated. So much extra shit on them. Ran fine a few days ago. No bbq gas here either.

I should add its started idling very high, dies under moderate load and the choke has stopped working. Feels like a huge vac leak, haven't touched anything since it was running well the other day. If I remove the hose from the booster to the manifold the idle drops a bit. Thought it should speed up with more air.... Just fitted a working weber and manifold, all new fuel lines. Was working well a few days ago, when I bought it it refused to run on petrol at all. Torn whether to rebuild the weber, fit a holley, holley and redline etc or just go straight to Cleveland. No rush as I'm doing the body first but just want it running well.

Lol. Thats the one the Fairlane had, which I knew as I have a ZK! LTD had the sports one with the warning lights blacked out. I'll just do that and I'll be sweet.

I have a spare bumper here I was going to through away. I'll take the brackets off and send them to you if you pay postage. I reckon any self serve wrecker would have some xes though.
-
Good info, I was hoping there would be a way to cheat. I was going to fit this S Pack one to my ZK then realised I'd end up with two sets of warning lights. LTD must have had a different one again. Bugger!

I'm interested in this too. I have a v8 one and need a 6 cylinder one. Mine may have been done though, it was in a 6 and has a sticker from adelaide speedo service or something like that. I guess I'll just try it. Any gauge place should be able to do it I reckon.

HELP With Check Engine Light On A 5L Conversion
SLO247 replied to CRU571XR8's topic in Auto Electrics
The E Series never had check engine lights, its all done through the diagnostic port. -
It usually means the balancer is stuffed. If it just started now then it must be the gilmer pulley. Good idea not to run it until fixed, it wont be good for it.

I've pulled a few roof linings out now, this one is different though. Early XE, just a GL. It has no jesus handles but just has the hooks to hang things. How do I remove the hooks? Can't see any screws. Need the roof lining out so I can weld the roof skin without setting it on fire.
-
Something like that but steel or alloy would be ideal I reckon.

Those controllers seem the most common solution. I just don't like the probe in the hose, eveybody reckons they leak no matter what. Bit untidy too. The EF and EL fans were wired differently, can't remember how. It relates to them being able to work at different speeds. I'd just ignore the extra stuff and go full speed, they will go for a bit then turn off. Normally one is triggered by the AC too, but I'm guessing the ute doesn't have that. Just run a wire off the compressor switch wire to the relay trigger for one fan.

Called speed nuts too. Should be able to get them from any fasteners place, even try those champion fastener packs you get in parts shops. Ebay and rare spares should have them too, probably way overpriced though.
