  1. G'day blokes. I'm up to refitting the seats in my ute. I want new nuts and bolts. Can anybody tell me suitable sizes? Lengths/threads etc. There are kits on ebay advertised as fitting XR-XC. I understand the floor pan is the same and the seats interchange, the kits look exactly the same as the XD-F items. Can I use those? Are the same fasteners interchangeable from XR-XF? Might be a dumb question but fuck me, I've never looked under an old girl (the car I mean). Otherwise can anybody tell me the suitable sizes so I can be lazy and go and buy them without crawling under my parts car in the dirt to remove them to measure? Thanks.

    wheel rusted on

I thought about that too, just try and pull it square so you don't jam it on a weird angle on the studs.

    XD-XF Bucket seat bolts

Hendrix you are a legend. Thats the info I needed, XC same as XE. I know the bolts are square etc, been stripping the old girls for years but never kept any seat bolts. They usually spin anyway as Dean said, vicegrips on the top do the trick. Been thinking of tacking them, depends if you can get in there.

    XD-XF Bucket seat bolts

It had the old type seats in it. It was a 3 seater originally so that may have been a factor. I'll lift the underlay and have a look. Can anyone help with the bolts?

    XD-XF Bucket seat bolts

It had all mismatched damaged crap in there. Hence asking here. It must have been one of the last with the old floor. A may 88 I think. Surely someone has replaced theres? Usually they are bent and rusted.

new windows? can they be bought?

Glass is often polished. Hence mentioning it. Obviously major damage can't be removed. I have two spare sets here, if you were closer I'd give you them if they were any better. Try these blokes too, maybe call them up? Seem to have some odd NOS bits. http://www.abouttimespares.com.au/

Tru Fit or Knox carpets, opinions?

I've heard the Knox ones are much better from a few sources. Some are a terrible fit. Theres an aftermarket one in my ute, swapping it for a clean factory one, thats how bad it is. Even the heel pad is crooked. So make sure its good!

    Oil Filters discussion

I have a box full of AFL1MCs. I was hoping to read good things, didn't know they were now made by Ryco too. I haven't had issues with either, just preferred the idea of the genuine filter especially at the price. That said, I may not bother in future as I no longer have a contact at Ford for good pricing so its retail for me from now on. Whats the go with the Ryco HE filters? Better flow or what? I'm only running stock engines so its not a big deal for me, just after the best quality and value.

Ute rear window removal and re-fitting

Ok I get you. I'll see about a new one. I'll fix the rust before I put it back in.
  17. G'day blokes. I want to remove the rear glass from my ute. I'd also like to remove the quarter windows. Is it a push out job like the sedan? How about the pop out quarter glass? How is it refitted? Just pressed in with the seal or glued in or what? I'm prepping it for paint and I also have a hole to weld up right next to the rubber, some wanker drilled to run wires through. I'm sure as hell not painting it with rubber in the way! It would be nice to get in behind the quarter glass too.

I forgot about that. Should be ok after painting though?

Ute rear window removal and re-fitting

What if I flood it all with silicon spray? I'll have a go getting it back in. I got it out in one piece anyway. Not as fucking easy as a sedan. Popping the seal in the corner is the trick, then getting your fingers behind and pulling it all out. It bends a lot. Good thing I took it out too, can fix the rust before it spreads.

Ute rear window removal and re-fitting

Sweet as. Thanks lads. I may leave the refitting to a pro.
  23. Yeah piece of piss. Just swap the looms into your car, fit the window regs, console and trims. Need to drill holes into the doors for the looms. The regs bolt up easy, just a bit fiddly and as Hendrix says the usual Ford Rivets to remove. Fit them up with rivets, nuts and bolts or even bolts and speed nuts. Be sure to add some pics of the conversion too.

    lower xg ute

Yeah 2 Ton would snap it in half. Some are 1 Ton, the normal spec utes are less. I'd go super low height.
