Just recently got my car finished with RRS , I must say after all the people that bag RRS , I love it . handles and steers awesome 

Thread tape is only for use on your home plumbing . It has no place on a carburetor     If you have a leak at a flare fitting it is dodgy. Assuming it is a chrome fuel rail?? Some don't seal  

Front port is pressure out to cooler , rear port on the trans is the return . Which it goes to on the cooler I don't believe really matters 

Yes have done to an XD . Then welded in a box section that allowed a fuel cell to sit down below floor level with carpet over it . 

I bought one of their 4" cowl bonnets . little work needed before paint . Quality was excellent  

Just try it, shouldn't make any difference , there's a few different type yokes

What's a c5? Is it a C4 with lockup converter?

Basically , yes if you were in the U.S that's how they came . I've never seen a L/up on any aussie ones .

They are just an 80's C4 , come in both case and pan fill. There are a few other internal differences, on the outside the front band adjuster is a finer thread than the rear and the cooler threads are 1/4 NPS rather than 1/8 NPS

Some had a funky valve body as well and a slightly deeper pan to accommodate it 

Could well be a C5 , have a look at the casting code on the case if it starts with E2

Being disc you'll need to watch the calipers on the springs . When the ends are rewelded back on rotate them upwards so the caliper then sits above the leaf

Is that 2'' each side or overall?

Yes . As sly says 2 " each side .  I have done an XW with 10" welds and 5.5 back space . at that the tyres were as close as you'd want to the springs . So with a 3.5" back space you'd need 2" off each side of the diff housing to end up with the wheels in the same spot . Any more i Think they'd be hitting the leafs ? 

3.5 backspace will give the deepest dish . Need to shorten diff to suit around 2" 

Should drop in 3 times . As long as some oil is in converter for initial lube , it soon fills itself once running 

If you're unsure converter is right in , run a straight edge across and measure depth to mount pads then measure flexpate to block plate 

1310 = 82mm across , 1330= 92mm . 1350= 92mm but the 1350 has bigger diameter pins and caps than 1330 

Looks pretty right . Just put a meter on the neutral start wires and check continuity in N + P and then for reverse .

Just be careful , I think the EFI heads and intake are unique . Bottom end is the same 

If i don't know the spec i usually go .020" hot  is fairly safe for most . Alloy head and cast block usually change around .003 -.004" from cold to hot 

It sounds silly but don't over tighten the belt !

Only just is just enough

Also , don't re use the belt once it's been chucked. It stretches the nylon in them .

Yes the XC - XF arms fit up fine . What you do need to do though is to trim the excess thread off the ends outside of the nuts

I use the Castle Auto Electrics starters . No matter what starter still need to check pinion to ring gear clearance

You can get inserts for a bigger hole . Look up Threadsert or keensert

Will likely be 1/2 UNF . You can get an O/S 1 tap and plug , from memory is .030" largers thread

A bit more info . I followed up with Motspecs with that part number listed here for the cover alone . No good  .

The guy there was pretty clued up on the whole subject. Apparently motospecs used to sell a few hundred a year of the roller covers . Newcom wanted them to commit to 5000 before they did another run . Motospecs declined and hence now they are no more .

I spoke with another local guy at Ultimate power steering . He had one last one of the Newcom covers still new in the box . From that he does his own roller conversion on the original covers . Price for the complete cover though was @ 200 bucks for the cover alone .  All their reco steering boxes come with the roller cover for anyone needing a complete steering box.

One thing not mentioned or shown here is the steel ring that sits between the bearing and the sector shaft . Does anyone still have the dimensions of that ring . I'll likely look into converting a few of the old covers I have left over .
