Nothing wrong with caps, ask any truck owner. I've used plenty of recaps over the last 35 years and NEVER had a problem. Only use them on the back and you can't go wrong.
-
They are both drive plate to crank bolts. Not converter to drive plate. The 440 Source ones are really short. Converter bolts are smaller, maybe 3/8 unf?
-
Total length is the same. ie same tailshaft, but the shifter is in a different position.
-
Yeah your spot on I don't even know why I wrote that.

200 is a waste It's only benefit IMO is the ease of mounting on a crossy. You would be far better off with a B2, same design but less restrictive without the right-angle air path. 300a's have a cable operated lid that you can open up to run on petrol to decrease the restriction but they won't run on gas with it open. I never open mine, it fucks with the mixtures too much.

Yeah, you're up against shit in the balancer and rusted threads, and oil and mud and crap everywhere. Good luck with it.

My record. I'm sure someone would have shaved a minute off that time somewhere along the line. 1986, so 28 years. Between 2 of us we were doing between 10 and 15 cars a day flat out for about 2 months when Power Steering became std equipment and Ford dealers couldn't sell manual steer floor stock.
-
Only column manual Steve. All other options are ok with p/s
-
My record is 27 minutes. (Using all new parts on a brand new car.)

Ohms are simply a measurement of resistance. Their fuction? Got me fuct.

Spot on Chris. -
fitting Tibbie ignition lock from XG into XF (and XD/XE)
Gaz replied to xfish's topic in Auto Electrics
Sorry but it doesn't fit perfectly. The whole assembly will fit an XF perfectly but Daves question was will the Tibbe barrel fit the XF assembly. -

Doesn't fit Dave. How much do you want to pay for a good second hand one with barrel and key? -
Au is totally different to E-series. Sensors are all the same.

Aussie C5 transmission performance upgrade
Gaz replied to BigCav's topic in Transmission and Differential
Never understood why Ford changed the model name when it was just a different converter. There probably is some piss-ant internal difference but that's a question for Gregaust. -
Sorry Tony, but you're not doing it right. The "too short" is in the column. Lever the column flange downwards, away from the firewall towards the box. Manual flex couplings are totally different to power steer couplings ie not interchangeable. They clamp the wormshaft on a straight spline, rather than what you are used to seeing on a power box which is a tapered spline.
-
Yes. Only difference is the bosses on flexible coupling may be shorter on the early box.

Rattle can satin. It only has to be non-gloss black where you can see it from the drivers seat. Which is fuckin ridiculous because you can actually have it highly polished if it's not painted.

Barry Chitts in Caulfield signed my XE Monty wags 3rd row seat off for me but that was 25 years ago. I expect he'd be dead. Even though it was factory fitted, it didn't meet regs and I had to do a simple mod, under his instruction, for him to ok it. Late Commodore seats are bolt in, stacks on ebay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-GENUINE-HOLDEN-COMMODORE-VT-VX-VY-VZ-AWD-WAGON-3RD-ROW-DICKY-SEAT-17-27-/251491779178?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a8e14026a&_uhb=1 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HOLDEN-COMMODORE-WAGON-CHILD-DICKIE-SEAT-COMPLETE-THIRD-ROW-SEAT-/171356418195?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27e5a37093&_uhb=1

Show me a Ford workshop manual (not Gregory's or Ellery's or any other book of lies) that states they have different ratios and I'll let you punch me in the face. -

Gaz replied to PRO250's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Lock to lock has nothing to do with ratio. Any number of factors can affect lock. I thought a lot of things too, but having rebuilt aproximately 2000 or more of these boxes by hand, and then probably another 1500 using the original machinery from the Kirby Bishop factory, and in the early years also fitting at least 500 of them in cars, I can state categorically that there is absolutely no difference in ratio whatsoever. But I will also say that your vast experience of changing 1 steering box far outweighs my small amount of knowledge and I humbly defer to your ownership of this non-existant argument. -

Perfect. But why don't you just re-modify it to take the XY box? It's only half a hole.
