We have one of 3 Xc gxl’s that were painted with y117.  Love to track down the others.  Where did you see this one?

Bear, yeah me still lurking about, i pop in from time to time.

I was living in Mudgee NSW at the time and the car belonged to a friend.

That would have been 17 years ago??

I dont know what my mate Mark did with the Falcon, i dont think he owned it very long.

I have not spoken to him either for prolly 10 years??

  2. I have an old EL falcoon  with a dead fuel pump so every time i want to move it (just so i can mow the grass around it) i spray that cheap as

export degreaser  straight down the throttle body whilst i sit in the engine bay and my wife drives it.

Whilst doing this the engine revs up like it would normally so am able to select gear and move it.

    Anyway....

I was thinking,,,, if you did this to and found you could rev the car up that would almost determin that the fuel pressure reg

    is not working???

Im sure there is a simpler method of testing the fuel pressure reg but im just thinking out loud here.

  3. I never put on Goldie, looks ok and is good for an extra 10 kilowatts at the back wheels with out it  ;)

I think Nana still has her's but its all hard and cracked.

Once you remove the glue residue and give that part a bit of paint you'll be like "Hey, that looks good"

Wonder what Clark rubber have you could whack in there??

  4.  Sika Flex will do the job you want. My brother, my dad and i all use it on various applications and always been successfull.

I was told by the smash repairer who made the bonnet on my Project Goldie that Sika flex shrinks back apon drying out

and can cause warping of panels. The bonnet on Goldie was bonded together with some sort of glue but it wasn't Sika flex

for this very reason. I have no foggie do what the adhesive was called so more home work needed before gluing together.

I cant go back and ask em as the smash repair has changed hands but im sure if somebody rocked up to a 'prestige smash place'

(somebody who repairs european cars, BMW, MERC etc, they glue a lot of these together now) they may give you the product name??

I was told its expensive stuff to.

Explore the sika flex range by all means, hey they might just have the product for the job, just want to relay what i was told is all.

Im all for this idea. :)

  5. I was in my local Repco today and saw a big red light bar on special for $99 for a 12" which seemed very reasonable. Anyone seen if they are any good or not?

The Big Red's are a great brand and made very strong Ando, now's the time to get one at that price if you keen.

    Safe buying.  :)

  6. Thanks for the input lads. Hey Steve, do you have a business that sells lights? I'd prefer to buy from a private business than an overseas owned mob.

No, I just so happen to work at Repco, been there for 6 years.

Im not plugging Repco and that why i say "shop around" because you have to in todays world.

There are bargains out there  ;)

  7. Yes, some of the ebay light bars are very good for the price, the 2 i have seen work looked very good and infact the Rep from Great white said

"that one there is very impressive" but it let water in which the owner new about but just hadn't sealed it up yet.

The great white brand is a serious light, even this smaller one from them will impress...

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GREAT-WHITES-WHITE-GWB5091-9-LED-12V-DRIVING-LIGHT-LIGHTS-BAR-STD-MOUNT-6000-/290820663183?hash=item43b643278f:g:vRoAAMXQKLdR1hEK

and is around the same price, perhaps a tad cheaper then what we could do.

The Big Red brand is also very good.

I understand you being tight on price, most people baulk at price on items but some just go, yeah they'll do.

Any 4x4 owners around where you live?? Ask them 'what they suggest"

See one in a car park with the owner, ask them "hey, what light bar is that? blah blah blah

Just the smaller lights like the Narva 180's or those nite stalkers because of their small bodies and the way they mount up

are hard to get a good light from. If you plan on sticking with those type's of lights, go with the round type and not the square.

Round will give better spread and spot over the square one's.

  8. I don't mind the look of these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300421871212

These are just like your Narva 180's so you wont like them either.

The issue is the adjustment on them. They have 1 mounting bolt and will either go up and down

or right and left. You get them spot on where you want them, do them up tight then after a drive they need doing again..

What LED light bar did you have?

We have had 2 evening light displays at my work both with Great White and Big Red

and we had at least 8 4x4's in with a mixed bunch of owners all with different light bars and spotties.

Some were even el cheapo jobbies off evil bay. One guy with a light bar off ebay, his light bar impressed us quite a bit

with how far it lit up and how well it lit up but,,,, it did leak water into it but that could be fixed with a tube of all clear.

Another guy had 2 "Great white, no expense spared" round spotties (we asked him to come and demmo them aswell)

and they were the ducks guts light!!! But at over $1000+ for 2 lights, not cheap.

Big Red, also do a mean light bar or spottie. A staff member i work with has 2 big red brand spotties on his Patrol and

he wanks over them every day, bloody loves them that much!!!

HID's are good but have lag from warming up but once on, really really bright to.

Go back to LED light bars or a LED spot light Because LED future is now.

LED light bar once you fix it on and adjust, will hardly move and give you optimum light for night time driving.

Im no expert with light bars and spotties, just going off what i have seen and heard from happy customers who come to

my work and our 2 light displays and seen results.

Repco has an up coming sale on light bars from Hypo and big red.

They also sell the Great white brand light.

Shop around still because there are savings out there and i hope other's can 'shed light' on this topic :)

  9. Ok,,, One for you BA Falcon peeps.

I have a BA Fairmont and the rear diff bush is ka put, buggered, rat shit

and i have 2 quotes of 1k plus to supply and fit a new diff bush.

I know the rear 'cradle' has to come out so my question is,,,,

Can i replace this bush at home say over a weekend with basic spanners??

I dont need a press or ta fistacated tools to remove and replace do i?

    Nolathane?

    Super pro?

    Any other brand better?

Cars, what a pain in the tush!!

  10. XF EFI wagon has that setup. Carby and EFI wagons use the same tank from what I can tell.

EFI has a low pressure one in tank and the external is mounted on the wagon area floor just above/behind the diff. Easier to have a low pressure/high pressure system than to try and redesign the wagon tank for the EFI internal pump I think.

Yeah i checked out today what external pump the XF EFI wagon use's and it looks like the Bosch 044 but of cause its not.

How quiet is that bad boy?

Im thinking if i replaced my 044 with the FPE240 from Fuelmiser, its the listed EFI pump for XF wagon and if its quiet and does the job

then "whoo hoo" ill be a happy camper.

Ive never had a efi wagon so cant say what they sounded like with the pump.

I like BG's maybe get the tank cut and shut, thats not a bad idea. Ill have to see what plastic tank fixing/repair/welding people

are out there and speak with them.

Crazy, I have heard of the walbro 255 so i might also check that out.

Yeah, its the noise thing mate im to old to be listening to that continuous Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

that emits from the 044. When im in the car id rather be listening to the Brandenburg concerto no 3 by Sebastian Bach whilst wearing my slippers

    than a 044.

351XD, id love a pic, just over the next day or so see how you go.
