I think they both look good in either colour but why 20's?
They a big wheel. 18's is as big as id go but of cause its not my wheel or choice.
Toss a coin heads for gold, tails for silver.
I dont think you will go wrong.
I know 20's on x series aren't everyone's cup of tea, but i do like the look. I had the 19's on there before and i little bigger would be better imo,
Saying that i do like smaller wheels e.g. snowies, convos, weld star pros in 15's, and i like the look with 18's too. I'm gonna keep an eye out over the next few years for some second hand 18" Avant Garde m220's which are a mesh rim, a one peice copy of HRE 501 3 piece wheels which are like 1500 a wheel, i really like the idea of but not sure enough to fork out a couple of grand for a brand new set.
I'm starting to see them on beemers a bit which i think are the same stud pattern, offset would be wrong im sure, but with some adapters and at the right price second hand id like to try and find a set to ad to the collection.
Theses ones
And i really want to track myself down a set of 17" terri chasers like XES has just thrown on his XE, but silver with chrome dress rings and a thin redwalled tyre, a modern take on the old s pac style.
Yes i have issues... but i don't think im the only one

Sorry dude just realised your not running gold vertinis, dunno where I got that from...

Gold vertinis do look good on yours.

I have mate but I prefer the minor profile difference of the Simmons and the stepped lip.
-
I like contrast, so gold or that gun metal grey colour, not silver though.
The one piece don't come in the gunmetal colour unfortunately only the three piece, which are also three times the price! Nearly.

20x8.5 front and 20x9.5 rear +6 offset, correct for pre au Falcons.

So I've decided I'm buying a nice new set of nice new Simmons FR 1 piece wheels, deciding on wheels has been completely doing my head in to be honest but at least I've settled on the design.
But i cant for the life of me choose between Gold or Silver.
I've always like gold Simmons fr's, and I think they give the car a cool sorta retro look.
On the other hand the silver gives a nice clean fresh look and a bit more classy I guess
but can't decide whether they look too plain or the gold is too look at me
Maybe you lot can help sway my decision...

Mate I've got 8.5's all round , looking at mine they fit easy on the back and I would say 9.5's would fit but offset would have to be spot on. I don't think 245/ 30's would fit on the front of my car, it might just rub in a few places. But the front is lower than you can go without drop stubs so unsure if they would fit with standard stub axles and SSL's.
Ahh no worries, thanks mate. Thought i remembered reading you were running 9.5s on the back, must have just imagined that one, i tend to do that...

The tyre is very slightly stretched but not much at all. No tread hangs out the edge of the quarter panel, it just fits under.
Mate, just trying to order wheels at the moment , just got off the blower with the wheel shop and with 20x8.5s front and 20x9.5s rear he is recommending 235 35s fornt and 255s rear.
Just wondering if you thing you would fit a 245 on the front without rubbing as i said i had 19s with 245 35 no probs so thinking a 245 30 20 should fit.
And pretty sure you've got 9.5 on the rear yes? what tyre are you are you running on those, i wanna try get a 275 30 in there.
-
20x 8.5's definately do fit on the front. Mine has them all round and tyre is almost under the guard with no rubbing and no mods to get them to fit. Although only running a 235 tyre on front. Unsure about the 10 on the rear though.
sorry just read this and realised you'd already said you weren't sure.
-
4.5 inch backspace, no rubbing anywhere on full lock. I have 2 inch drop stubs and super low springs. Wheels also fit with standard stub axles and SSL's. Tyres are 235/30R20's from memory.
What rim offset / tyre Size you running on the rear?
-
Hmmm...
I know 20x8.5 with a 245 30 I think will fit on the front with +6 offset, not sure what that means as far as back space goes, cause that's what the new Simmons fr1 20" are for pre au which I think I will be going for since it sounds like these won't fit. And 9.5 on the rear with a 275 tyre.
I was running 19x8 on the front previously with a 245 30 I think with ultra low kings and had no issues with clearance of anything, that is a 19 though.

Shame... they are a bloody nice looking wheel, and the right price at $1362 landed. 14 week wait though.
-
Thanks mate, that's a definite NO then.
-
Considering these Ridler 645's for the xf, they come in 20x8.5 and 20x10, 0 offset which is 5.5inch back space according to Anthony from VPW.
Does anyone know if they will fit?

I used the chrome wheel arch mould as many others have. It was about $23 dollars to do the whole car.
Being that the product comes from Global trim it would be a good quality product.
If i was going a concours resto i would likely use it.
Sounds like the stuff i used on the xf

I have an Autotecnica woodgrain wheel in me BnS basher
Mark, i have that wheel in my Hyundai excel, its very comfy and does the job perfect.
My wood grain wheel is close to the one you also have. I had to scan a pic into my pc
as i dont have the car anymore but still kept the wheel and it was taken near 20 year ago.
Lol, i had the exact same wood grain one in my xf till i replaced it with the exact same one you have in the xh.

Did it also come with the ring that goes around the horn buton, that looked proper ricer, chucked that straight out.
The plainer the better.
-
They're a nice simple wheel hey.
-
Cmon I thought you where about to offer me 15k for it.
Yeah I spose if it's going to someone you know is gonna give it the same love you do then it makes it a bit easier if the time comes.

Ha, thanks mate but I doubt I ever will, I get too attached. Really entertaining the idea of find a coupe project, would be a long term one of course, at the moment, and I half sold the idea to the mrs by saying I could maybe sell the xf for half decent coin to help fund the coupe. But really I know I'd just keep both and struggle.
