Sorry Hendrix, I'm a lazy lil shite..... should have looked, my bad. Thanks for the write up. Jack.

I still have the factory security tape deck in the ute. You can't operate it without the code. The only way to find the code is maybe strip off the outer casing on one and see if it is written somewhere inside the casing, is my only suggestion. The only other way is to find the where it stores the code recognition and re-code it, but I have no idea where to even start there besides the chip. Jack.

The Suspension cause and effect Thread
Outback Jack replied to SPArKy_Dave's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Cheers Sparky, great read , even if your just a road driver. Always thought my problems on ute were Camber and Toe In/out related...... Jack. -
Ok , cheers Polson, thought it was something like that, just wanted to check. Ta. Jack.

Just out of interest........Why do you guys use a spacer there? Arms on mine bolt straight to the tower, no spacers. Jack.

Nice wagoon, At least ya know where the problem is, like I said if you want to save some money and you have a bearing puller, whip those bearings out, down to a bearing shop, get em sized and replaced, easy. Sounds like someone has at some stage had too much tension on the belt, or just age mate 2-8 oclock would be roughly the angle of tension on the pulley, so it wears the bearing in that one spot. Jack.
-
I've had the same thing Wagoon, the bearings just do whatever they want once they get a bit of slop in them. LOL WD40 will show ya what the problem is, but isn't the best lube for bearings. Maybe when the metals expand it makes it less noticable. You may be able to get a bearing kit and just replace the bearings in the alternator, especially if the alternator is still working well. Happy Australia Day! Jack.

Damn Ando, them some pretty rusted bits. Hope ya have fun at the machining shop. I love all the equipment they have, keeps me amused for hours. Jack.
-
Heya Wagoon, spray some WD40 into the alternator (try not to get any on the belts/pulleys) , if the noise stops, it's ya alternator bearing. I've had it sometimes where it's noisy, and a spray of WD40 gets rid of the crap and it's OK, other times it just doesn't help. Belt on alternator sounds too loose as well, deflection should be about 15-20mm Jack.

Gun metal Grey +1, if looked good on a Mitsibishi Cordia, it will suit the squarish body of the falcon. And it won't show up as much shit. mettalic with a few nice coats of clear......mmmmmm.... Jack.

Exhaust shop do that in 30 minutes, or if ya changing shit, do it later. Half arsed jobs always come back and bite ya on the arse. Jack.

Is it possible to move the fuel pump bracket lower? Then you could just use a longer bit of fuel line from the hard line to it. If you can get the fuel pump foam surround you could even mount it lower than the bracket and cable tie it to the longer line, letting it sit lower. With the filter on the end you shouldn't suck up any crap. VDO make good pumps as well. Jack.

Wiring help for Burnout car -351C with C4 in XE Falcon.
Outback Jack replied to Outback Jack's topic in Auto Electrics
Cheers Anthony, Yeah we have push button start mate, and there is no relay on the starter set up which is one of the things I want to change as i think the auto neutral switch should be connected to one. -
Wiring help for Burnout car -351C with C4 in XE Falcon.
Outback Jack posted a topic in Auto Electrics
Hey guys, well as usual, I get called in to fix up another dodgy wiring job. This one is an XE 351 Burnout car I need to get running. I was just wondering if I list whats in the car and what is running on it , if someone may have a simple wiring set up for it. I can't even get the thing to turn the starter motor with the wiring in there now, it's a joke. Ok, heres what we have: XE Falcon- wiring basic for Burnout car. 351C motor- 2 wire alternator C4 gearbox with selector position switch. Battery re-located to boot. Problem is she won't start, I think it's the wiring. Have put a screwdriver across the starter motor and she wound over. It has a Gearbox selector/neutral switch and somehow that, or the way the starter is wired is wrong. Also the coil was getting super hot, so think we may need a ballast resistor in the line from the Ignition to the Coil. There is also no relay for the starter motor, which seems odd to me. Also, the "Kill switch" does not cut out Jack shit, but I can sort that. I have Fuel pump switch working, Thermo fan working. All I really need is correct wiring for the starter motor with C4 auto and gearbox switch and just the general motor wiring including alternator. The manuals are good, but made for a factory wired car, not a Burnout stripped out one. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jack. -

If you like strapping a microwave under ya bonnet, go for it. Plasma has to be ignited by radiation, plasma lamps are the same. It's going to be harsh on plugs and draw LOTS of power from your battery. Plug technology needs to catch up first, this ignition with standard plugs will cause problems on road cars. Jack.

Fuel cut off solenoid triggered with a micro switch under the carpet near the driver, works well, not too complicated. If they think its out of juice as stated above, they will leave it. Might start at first, but stall before they get anywhere.
