Makes me want to rip my redback muffler out and jump on it...... lol. Just an idea.... how about for the track drop the exhaust at the two flanges and run straight side pipes one out each side.... can hot dog em if too loud, bet that will get up and bogey. Sounds so much better that street set up witj lukey. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    302w cam

I'd stick with the 600 holley. Its good all round, easy to tune and can jet up if ya want it richer. Vacuum secondarys for a road car. I love these carbies. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    xw seatbelts

Agree with above. I had a 69 dodge ambulance. No belts. Nothing like having an accident and clinging to the steering wheel like a spider monkey to stop yaself getting splatted on the stupidly thick windscreen. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Wilwood brake upgrade

Those T2 rotors are good. Run em on my xg ute. Rebuilt stock calipers and bendix pads. I dont like the pads too much so maybe try those QFMs. Bendix advance are what I run.. find the bite a bit lacking. Jack.

    Exhaust Backpressure

Yeah I agree with the guys on hi po motors. .. less restriction the better. Only cars I see that run no exhausts are full on drag cars. Jack

    Exhaust Backpressure

Ok nath. What ya do on bikes is remove the baffle and cut off 1/4 of the length on the baffle..... bolt it back up , take for a ride and see how you like it. Remember these guys that talk NO back pressure run hi performance motors with hi compression. If you remove all back pressure on a standard motorbike you will burn the exhaust valves out over time. I have done this mod a few times on standard bikes with good results. I used to find 1/2 to 3/4 of the baffle removed worked well but start small... can always take off more but cant put it back on. Jack.

    XG Overheating

I have never done that Banno. Never had a problem. Is why you put ya heaters on when ya fill up ya coolant and give it a few revs. Jack.

    Xh ute bad fuel economy

Got to be a little careful when going off guage position for actual temp. That is the sender and the actual reading of the temp for the computer is from the coolant temperature sensor. (The big one). Sometimes it could be wrong sender installed for guage. Mine runs in the normal box just above the lowest line of the box..... but has been tested in workshop and by me on code reader and ute checks out A OK. Also a tip..... NO thread seal tape on sender or CTS. Just use sealant. Can be a bit tricky to pin down but worth doing. Jack.

    Xh ute bad fuel economy

Daves hit it on the head then. Ya belts are slipping in ya tranny.. and thats not a caitlin jenner joke. How ya supposed to get good economy if the power cant get to the rear wheels? Get ya gearbox serviced and belts done if needed. Jack.

    Xh ute bad fuel economy

Worth a check. Sorry if Im wrong Dave. I always though xh was same as xg as was same obd system. If everything checks out may want to look for clutch slippage or brake/wheel bearing drag. I will say though... if you like driving with a heavy right foot the fuel economy of these motors goes downhill fast. Lol. I should get 1000km from my duel tanks...126L .... Never even been close. Jack.

My Xc has 'Tracker' above the 4.9 Badge?

Nice ute mate... yeah I gotta agree, looks like a dealer option.... but you never know. Contact Ford by email and supply id and rego papers in your name and they will give you all options it left factory with. Only way to be 100% sure. Outbacks only have sticker packs not badges and that was factory. Jack.

    Xh ute bad fuel economy

It will be that thermostat, now its fixed try do a new fuel economy test. If the ute is not at full operating temp when your doing your fault code test that will be your 'rich at idle'. Do you do a throttle goose before you test anything? Also run your code reader 3 times just to check codes re occur the same. My ute gets about 14L/100km real world economy. About 700km to 100L. Bridge out test pin and earth under dash on left of test plug and check your base timing is at 10 degrees..... just to be sure... Jack.

really bad takeoff in 1st gear.

Well running all that nice motor he should piss the street fire off and get the programmable, then can run a dizzy that doesnt rely on springs like some friggin 15th century clock. That info is still good, even without a programmable unit, just disregard the retard curve bit. Thats all from me.

really bad takeoff in 1st gear.

Should be able to set base timing to 30 degrees but will have to use a digital timing light to see it go out that far. I couldnt even get ash's crossflow started without a map loaded. But that was with est dizzy. Are you running a vac dizzy with points or was it xf with fuel inj and ecu originally? If it had ecu , you have to run the stock ecu with a link across test wires under bonnet to set base timing at 30 degrees properly at first. Then disconnect all that shit and hook up msd with map loaded up properly and will run. If was carby xf, disconnect vaccuum hose to dizzy and set timing to 30 degrees then take dizzy out and replace with est or tfi 3 wire dizzy. The msd needs a signal from the dizzy to work properly. Also check msd is set to 6 cylinder, rev limit it to 6000 for now and make sure input is set to Halls Effect. You may need to search ashs thread, im on phone sorry snd im old and dumb. Hahaha Jack.

    Carton motor critically injured

Good Onya Ando Sorry to hear about carton motor. RIP. Im the same, I dont want to ride in mates skid car, just the look on his face after will be enough. Top work mate.

really bad takeoff in 1st gear.

Cool mate. As long as he understands the MSD is a device for RETARDING not advancing. Set the base timing on motor at 30 degrees advanced. The msd curve is then actually more retard (20 degree retard) at 10 degree start and lessens it off on a curve up to your original engine setting of 30 degrees. Step up in 500rpm increments. Check out Ashxf 's xf crossy ute, that just recieved a msd 6al2 programmable jobby and running an EST dizzy. I installed and tuned that with ash's help, running 600 holley. You can also buy a solid centre wheel for EST dizzy now which replaces the tin flimsy wheel inside for more high rpm reliability. Hope that helps, if ya give that info to ya tuner, he should know what ya talking about. Jack.

really bad takeoff in 1st gear.

K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. Its still the timing mate, has been from the start. Est dizzy works too and will go fine, tfi be nice if you could find one. If ya over running with a head that looks that nice its timing. Listen to gerg he's on the money. ALWAYS go from the simple basic things and work ya way up. Will save you a lot of money. Jack.

Hey Colonel Mustard, Just finished an xf with msd and 600 holley. Works but as stated above 600 holley is too big. Can get it to run but will always be rich. Start with your timing. You need to get motor to sit at 30 degrees advance timing. Then the msd is actually a retard device, it retards a lot at low revs and less at high revs. Idle timing on graph starts at 10-12 degrees and goes up roughly 2 degrees every 500rpm. That will give you a basic curve. Do that before playing with carb. Personally I would go 350 holley if you cant get it to run right with a lumpy cam. Curve info supplied to me by ando76. If you have questions can ask Ashxf too, that's who I fitted MSD for. Takes more than just replacing jets to get 600 flowing less fuel. You will need to do a vac test so u ou can work out what power valve you need as well and which spring in vac secondary it needs to be. Jack.
