    Thom's 4.0l thread

Isn't AU same as XG? Both injectors are interchangeable. Ive run AU injectors in the XG. I have seen billet ones for xg utes. Cant remember where though.... Maybe Batten Performance Tuning or TI performance. .??? Will look again... See process west and plazmaman have kits. You may need to buy untapped polished rail and fit correct injector ports. Seen heaps of kits around. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

1999 XH Ute 125,000kms Blown Head Gasket

You can buy the head gasket and bolts from permaseal on ebay as a kit. I agree with valvey... multi layer steel head gasket. ... only way to fly. Permaseal would be the cheapest bolts I'd use. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

That is uncanny resemblance then.... even the roll on the front and the centre exiting exhaust... I never seen one other done like that.. was a mission. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

If that black escort has extractors off a capri cut at the collector and run thru all the way to centre of rear in 3" with a 2L and TP1 pinto cam... thats my old escort. Original colour on compliance should be same as yours panko. That thing rolls on 13" because I rolled and cut and shut those guards all round.Give away will be motor has been moved back about 2" from standard. That thing is a DEAD ringer. I killed the bottom end racing an lc torry and sold it......about 23 years ago.... lol Oh.... and 2L capri extractors dont fit in mk1 engine bay.... but they do when massaged with an oxy.... NC Fairlane won't start

Might just be battery, once smartlick goes under a certain voltage it wont unlock like most immobilizers. Think its about 7V. Cheap easy fix first? Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
  8. Mate have had this problem on Outback... If its not in master cylinder there will be a dummy proportioning valve in there which can be replaced with the real deal... solving your problem. I came across this prob because one tonner utes have single spinner and proportioning valves at rear. The other has it in the master cylinder, like mine. You'll still have brakes without it... just 50/50 split. Think its supposed to be more like 70/30 split. I like it in master cylinder because its not dependant on load. 383 total ignition timing

I'd probably start your initial 10-15 degrees. Total 32 degrees. Apparently going above 36 is not going to improve much. Needs a nice dyno run just to see what she likes. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Electrical Issue - 250 Crossflow

Mate before you chuck ya msd... take the top off and on there should be heatsinks in there. It will be the paste on those is crappy and cause unit to open circuit once warmed up..... thats why I asked about the dizzy module.... Its a common problem with heatsinked items. Worth a look or check the internal fuse is not semi broken. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Oil Pressure

Sure its not just wiring problem? If not Id change pumps or you got a leak/ block in oil pickup. Did you change the oil filter... if clogged get those symptoms. Worst is oil pump change. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Electrical Issue - 250 Crossflow

Sorry mate, was just checkin you hadnt plugged into the module and was overheating. Deans onto it. Standard coil should be fine, get ya out of trouble for now. Just if motor revs high and hard..... save for a nice coil. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Electrical Issue - 250 Crossflow

Module on side of dizzy, take it off put new heatsink paste on it... sounds like overheating module.... If not recheck msd module. Does the msd7 take a curve tune or just for basic spark? Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    crossflow porting results

Sorry gerg..... damn my fuzzy logic..... Oh and on Vizard.... he is THE master of the 2L OHC Ford motor..... but that doesnt make him master of ALL motors. I think its great people want to see what a crossys limit is.. and stay reliable. More the merrier... Competition only means you push yaself more. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    AU Falcon Miss

+1 with Dave on fuel. Plugs melting and too hot... not enough or shit fuel. Sounds like fuel filter, fpr or fuel pump. If was one injector would not melt all plugs. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    AU Falcon Miss

Can happen from running shit fuel in a 10/11:1 motor. AUs like decent fuel. Not like the XG at 8.5:1 ..... run on lamp oil.... lol Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Good onya Demmo!! Patience is needed with efi..... will shit you to tears . After you figure it out.... simples. You have now made an XG run good.... get a degree now. Hehe. Bash that Dram! Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Ok,ya 12 code... will be ISC solenoid, wiring to it or ecu faulty. Symptoms- rough idle or stalls due to lack of rpm. 22- map sensor out of range. If ya used ya xh one... dont think they are same... if not.... Map sensor fault Vacuum leaks Wiring Or ECU Symptoms- Detonation Poor performance High fuel consumption Surge Stumbles 52- its a power steering switch thing... XG dont have one..... lol. So most points to ECU..... Try using correct map... from xg. Also make sure there are no vacuum leaks on intake and pcv valve is working. If no go.. clean with carby cleaner or renew ISC solenoid. Carbon builds up. Still no go.... grab ya ecu code and grab one for $50 at a wreckers same. Still no go....trailer it down here and buy me beer princess..... lol. Only taking the piss mate... XG can be infuriating to get shit right... once it is.. Mmmmm. XG magic... Hang in there kitty! Jack. Edit... ya dizzy is right... you done it correct. To check proper timing... base timing There are two pins on the left of the diagnostics where you plug your code reader in. Top one is test , bottom one is earth. Alligator clip these two together and your in base timing mode when the ute is running and you can set timing to correct spot or check if out. Any other way.... your getting an advance-retard reading. Hope that helps. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Budget boost rebuild, pistons and rings

Depends what motor valvey, if you dont have a dizzy its the only 'physical' way to adjust timing without computer getting involved. I have been told that the sohc 4L is only good for 2 degrees on the dizzy anyway in stock form. Mines standard. Unknown how far is too far on a barra. Gotta be careful.. Only exception was the VCT AU. That can adjust its own valve to cam timing in higher rpm. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Demmo, Mate, do you have any heatsink paste around? The module on side of dizzy has heatsink paste between it and dizzy body.... sometimes if its farked the module can overheat.....causing firing problems. Its a simple fix if thats it. Scrape old stuff off and put new shit on and screw down tight. I've never had a problem but it would explain why it does it when warmed up. Do you have a spare map sensor? Definately look for a prob there. I think I got my dizzy on ebay mate... just look for genuine bosch dizzy for xg.... still out there... got one in mine... from memory 150-180. Wasn't too exxy. As said above.... cheap chinese ones spell death... lol Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Thats it mate.... think acceptable leakdown... but over hours.... is why it primes pumps before start, makes sure rail is at pressure. Mate if ya need any diagrams or stuff..... I got it all here.. can post them up for ya. Goodluck mate. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
