  1. cool, so the grill is a bolt on fit/ I'm not really a fan of the TE grill and I prefer the cleaner look of the TF's grill, makes the cars look cleaner in the front
  2. No worries mate I'll let you know will be in the next few weeks I'll round up the cash to get all that done, I'll shoot you a PM when I'm ready.
  3. PRO, do you need anything from my car to do the kit?, After chrissy sounds good as I'm just getting the car sorted for rego ATM. Doug, That was a sweet Cortina shame about what happened, I hope you get it all sorted, is that car a TE or TF? looks like it's got a TF grill.
  4. Are the hopper stopper kits any good, how do you upgrade the rear brakes?

    Aussie speed inlets

Aussiespeed manifolds are much better than redlines effort and the older Cain manifolds, much better fuel distribution due to the better shaped runners.

anyone know xe v8 air cleaner paint code?

I'm pretty sure that the cheapo Auto one Silver engine enamel is a spot on match for the XD XE rocker covers/ aircleaner.

ummm Silver??? actually I'd like to know this as well to redo the rocker covers and aircleaner on my XD.

Turbo 250 X-Flow. No Power and Clicking

you might wanna pull the cam out and have a look at the lobes, if you lifters look like that then not much hope for the cam.

    turbo clevo

you could always just reverse a pair of stock cast manifold and get someone to weld up a flange to suit what ever turbo you are going to use, it would be very easy to do a twin turbo setup like this plumbing would be fairly simply.

    351 clevo with 302 rods

^^^^ This If the crank hasn't has an offset grind and hence retains the stock 3.5 inch stroke there is now way in hell using 302 rods will make 383 cubes it is physically impossible to do with the stock crank stroke and stock bore. All that using the longer conrods does is slows the piston down during rotation and hence alters the power/torque characteristics when compared to the stock crank/ stock rod combo, the Piston still travels the same distance up and down. In the couple of 351's that I've built I've found the long rod combo's give better torque in the lower and mid range compared to the stock rod combos and are smoother revving, they don't seem to rev as hard as the short rod setups and tend to run out of puff 500 rpm lower, but that really does depend on the cam/carb specs as well. I think your old boss may have spent WAY too much time on the grass however, my current long rod 20 thou over 351 in my XD might be worth a total of 354-355 cubes maybe, If all you needed was 302 rods on a 351 crank to make 383 cubes, I think every bloke packin a 351 would have a 383 instead. Now pass it along now so the rest of us can have a toke

    351 clevo with 302 rods

O.o Using 302 rod doesn't make 383 cubes on a 351 crank, the rods might be 6 inches long but the crank still only has a 3.5 inch stroke and with the correct piston still only gives 351 cubes. The crank would need to be offset ground down to about 2 inches to increase the stroke from 3.5 inches to 3.8 inches to give 383 cubes. As my 5 year old says...get off the grass!

    t5 gear box

hmmm I wouldnt' put a 500hp engine with a T5 myself as I have destroyed a couple of those with an OHC sixes making around 300hp, maybe if you want to cut corners you could get away with a T5 for a little while, personally I'd pony up for a tremec or a T56. For mildish applications the T5 should be fine, as for the difference between the 6 and 8 version couldn't really tell you but the last two that I broke were from ED XR8's and the 4 litre trashed them after a few months of what could be considered abuse.

ACL still sell pistons a quick google search bought up their catalog which has been updated this year.

    351 clevo with 302 rods

I'm pretty sure the pistons in my 302 rodded 351 are ACL, the local engine build supplied them when I had the clevo rebuild a few years back. I've never had any issue with this setup, it seem to make more torque down low compare to similar setups with the 351 rods in them and seems to rev a bit better but other than that it's really just what your engine builder preference would be. I would have been happy with either.

    EGR Spacer

just remove the egr valve at the back of the adaptor plate and make up a blank plate to cover it, u need the adaptor to mount the carb to the manifold. pretty simple really.

Carbie jets for xflow and 350 holley

I ran 63's in the 350 holley I had on my old xc, gave reasonable economy out on the highway and gave a nice boost over the standard Stromberg.
  19. Been trawling the net quite a bit for any images of the following colour but I've had no luck Paint code : Q Year : 1979 I believe it is called nutmeg, it is a metallic brown that was available on XD falcon's and looks similar the Walnut glow found on earlier falcon's If any one has some pics or can point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Macman those pics are awesome thanks heaps, Nutmeg is a sweet looking colour.
  21. Sadly no I don't as the car was stripped and put into primer many many moons ago even tried rubbing back the primer in spots to see if it was under there, to no avail...I have a fair idea of what it the colour looks like but just want to confirm before forking out to get the car resprayed, I'm pretty sure it is a medium to dark metallic brown colour. I just want a few pics to confirm.

    351c gas setups.

you could always get a cobrajet style manifold and run 2 impco 425's on that with a cobrajet style air cleaner that would look pretty sweet if you could hide the converter well enough. It should make some decent power if you cam and set up the ignition right.

    351c gas setups.

Hmm Not sure about Tassie's rego requirements but in NSW an XF with a V8 is a reasonably easy thing to get passed as long as u meet the car original requirements, couple of blokes I know have just copied XE falcon emission specs and got by, but they were pre 86 XF's as well I would imagine a post 86 model would be a fair bit harder to get passed.

    Would like Opinions on Build

Decided to strip the car for parts, I managed to score a 79 XD S pak with a worked 351 in it, will be a much better car to do up.
