Whats involved in converting a t5 to a mustang extension housing?
P100_Ute replied to RAWDEAL's topic in Transmission and Differential
You dont need remove handbrake just pull it towards you if u use standard falcon housing -
a good tig welder bloke could cut n shut the top/bottom hoses. Mines a Standard corty radiator with the hoses cut out and moved to suit the engine
-
Looks good Jason, just need to get radiator modified to suit the hoses need be swapped to the other side. passenger top with short hose straight into the thermostat.. and on drivers side needs to be bottom hose

You will need to either get the top shaft also with that rear housing or get your falcon one cut down and drilled to take a roll pin to hold the shifter ball mechanism. Then just unbolt the 4 bolts for the shifter. Knock the roll pin out with a punch.. be carefull when taking the shifter bit out because theyre is a spring and it could go anywhere. and to remember how it goes back togethor. unbolt the bolts to slide the back of the housing off.. then either swap the top plate over to mustang one. or cut and redril the falcon shaft to suit. then cut the floor to suit. -
You'll be at this point in no time at all shortly.

Fingers Crossed its a constant runner after this and no need to do any rebuilds. I do about 800km's a week in my Cortina. And this fastest/reliablest/daily driven Cortina award that i been carrying is getting bloody heavy. Come take it off my hands Chris. Mine let me down a bit today, heater core went and spilled coolant all over the road in Mandurah. whipped out screwdriver and plumbed the in/out hoses into each other.. and looped the heater onto itself. slipped into supercheep for coolant. and hey presto problem solvered. Dont even know why i plumbed the heater into the equasion.. i never used one in my life in a Cortina.

are AU and BA 5 speeds the same?
P100_Ute replied to PRO250's topic in Transmission and Differential
the S10 is way too short for my application. maybe for someone with a engine sitting back in the cab with recessed firewall. -

BA T5 with speedo hole blocked up -
Totally Different Mate. You'd need to drill out spotwelds and mounts and completly mount the TC whole dash frame in and then put the TC dash in.. Lot easier to Find a TD Tacho Dash. TD-TF can interchange with tweekin of wiring if needed. but TC is a whole nother kettle of fish.

i think this calls for a dohc porting thread and see what tricks you can do and ill happily roadtest this at track to see improvements.

The couch was very Comfy. least been around kids getting me prepped for when mine arrives in 2 months. Im glad im not related to any Noongars coz they all know each other. Kyles mother could talk leg off chair. had to drive off from Mount Barker else we would never got to Albany. And saw about 6 people at the TAB whilst getting Melb Cup winnings.. they just talk and talk hah. I could been stuck there for hours if i didnt have to be anywheee.

Heres the plug your looking at. I'll send you another e-mail with wiring diagrams that have this C20 plug. about 20 differnt things run through it. Some come from EEC-B, Injectors, VCT, HEGO, LGP to EEC-C, UTE Diff Locks, Inhibitor Switch etc etc.

Was good trip. back home now. 1000km round trip and 4 tanks of fuel. Corty loved the wide open road. made it to airport also at 12:00. So that worked well. those pushrods were working off the clock on the 450km cannonball run to make it. Snapped this yesterday on way down. *edit* Forgot to say, if the bloke over the road causes any trouble (which i highly doubt as he seams to be a good kid) tell him you'll send his mother around to pull his ears. I saw his Mother at Mount Barker when i drove through yesterday. Funny thing about small towns. Everyone is related or knows someone. The Cortina stands out like a sore thumb, Everyone was looking at it driving around town like its the first one they seen since the 80's.

As Sean said earlier. I am loaded up and ready to go, didnt wanna drag an Empty trailer home so just threw it in the boot. Only waiting on dryer to finish so i can pack my bag. Sorting out new music for the Stezza now as need some new funky beats and will buy ice for the esky from servo on the way. Hopefully i make it away from the TAB when i roll into Williams. Got a few Hot Tips today so will be laying some cash down on the race that stops the nation!!

If using A T5 out of a (XF - EL) just use a XF T5 speedo cog setup.. then the little thing should work straight off that. The BA T5 i picked up didnt have the hole drilled out to support a Speedo Cable, I just plugged my Corty Speedo Cable into T5 (after taking out the electronic speedo sensor thing that E series T5 boxes use) and speedo works no worries.. *edit* Heres a pic of the electronic speedo thing i removed to replace with Cable Speedo and a BA T5 showing the Speedo hole undrilled next to my T5 Extention Housing for my Cortina.

Are you going to be using a AU T5 Bellhousing to keep it cable clutch and bolt up to all the structual holes? the E-Series bellhousing Only mounts to the top 4 bolts. not the bottom 4 into the sump like the AU one does. Took me a while to find a AU Bellhousing. Bought one attached to a rooted gearbox for $150 then gave the gearbox to a Tranny repair place down the road in return for an input shaft that i can use for clutch aligning tool. Other hard to find at good price is ECU. got manual non turbo one $140 and manual turbo one for $190. $300 to get PATS disabled ( passive anti theft system)so i dont need anything special to run engine key wise etc
