Did someone say amatuer?

something in the 215 .050" with 10.1 comp and some gears would be nice and streetable i think, with a t5 out the back ofcourse.

slydog's cortina sounds impressive i hat to admit. Fair enough it's a light car and has a seriously short diff ratio, but the numbers are impressive non the less.
-
thats sounds a bit cheap... I suppose you'll find out sooner or later whether its worth its salt.

A good solid cleveland/windsor stroker in parts costs spot on $10,000 (including dizzy, carb flywheel). This is for an externally balanced cast crank job.
-
In a high comp engine spark amplifiers are a must but im not sure weather it would make such a big difference in a stock engine. Increasing the compression ratio would see the greatest gains.

save yourself the money and get a near new ef-el BOSCH coil from the wreckers. mounted on the strut tower away from any heat soak it works a treat.

your xb sounds good......i don't have any experience with strokers but most of the 600+ hp builds that I've read about seem to have stalled autos or very short gears for drivability. I'd be putting a supercharger on it instead of overcamming to make power, but thats just me thou

500hp is a sensible amount of HP for the street running a carb, any more and I'd recomment EFI unless your racing or treating it like shit. No one wants a plug fouling, bore wearing POS.

Economy is largely dictated by power to weight and gearing at the end of the day. My combo is borderline unfortunetly cam has 205/209 duration at .050" which is as far as you can go I think with a 2.77 and stock 3 speed auto. pistons are acl 28cc, the only modification was shaving the HF5 head by .080' (2.0mm)

Yeah it is a slug around town but not any slower then the stock crossy that I had in there, which is suprising cause it is 200kg heavier then stock. The 14221 crow cam is a highway cam and from 100-150kmh in top gear she flies (for a crossy that is). It stops making power around 3,800rpm. Wendy at crow cams told me that no one had ever had any success running the 14221 cam on LPG due to poor vacuum (109 degree lobe separation). Took me ages to get right but quite happy with it now, thank god crossflows can tolerate some detonation and lean running lol
